  • Bro imma keep it real, this RTX 2060 is so good
Capacity: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD
I can max out (so far) Dying Light, L4D2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Fallout 4... Bro fr I'm not gonna be like "Oh blah blah blah battery life this, I don't like that" na, this is legitimately a solid machine that will keep up with what's thrown at it. The RTX 2060 is surely something you want to be a part of. I've been living on low graphics since 2013, settling for the 15-25 FPS and people usually talk trash about Alienware brand for whatever reasons. Also, people are rambling about heat comfort and build quality; na, they're are assiduously looking for "cons" so their "review" looks more credible like lol wtf ? The only problem I have with this laptop is that I can't stop downloading all the Steam games I was never able to max out or EVEN play. I'm coming from a Macbook Pro 2016 and the performance difference is night and day. Make sure you go to the Alienware Command Center thing/app and turn on "Performance Mode", while plugged into a power source if you want the (90%) of what the laptop can do. Thanks for reading, peace out and have fun ... show more

  • Glad I ponied up for it.
Capacity: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD
I've had this laptop for two months now and I can honestly say that it's worth the money. There are, however, a few things to note that will need to be addressed if you want to use it for very much serious work. Firstly, this laptop comes with an M.2 harddrive, which is very good, but it's only 512mb. An additional harddrive is almost necessary and, although it does come with a second slot, I opted for an external 4TB SSD. That basically solves storage issues for a good while. Secondly, This only comes with a single 8GB RAM card but does have a second slot. I haven't added another card yet but I have seen instances where it would improve performance. This laptop is currently my workhorse and downtime toy. I've seen very few hiccups using it for music production, recording, live sound and gaming. Once you address the underwhelming storage issue you can work pretty well with it but a RAM upgrade should be in your future as well. Games these days not only have 80+GB download files but pull considerable amounts of RAM, as do DAWs. Overall, this is a fantastic little beast for the money and with just a few minor upgrades it can do everything short of engineering 3D models. I'm certainly glad that I bought this for my work and play! ... show more

  • Runs well, no complaints
Capacity: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD
This computer is a great bargain for any gamer, ive used it to play shadow of tomb raider, american truck simulator, disco elysium and ive had no issues. Im not a pc tech so i cant break down the specifics for you but if your looking for a gaming laptop at a reasonable price then this is it. Yes the fan is a bit loud at times but its not at ps4 levels of loud, and i personally have had no issues with the touchpad getting hot. I love it. ... show more

  • Buyer beware: 100C temps while playing any games, 80C+ for web browsing
Capacity: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD
I've been running this for a few months now and it's still hanging onto life, I'll give it that. Game performance is great - Dota2, Vermintide, Star Wars Squadrons, etc all run well with high settings. The monitor refresh rate is great too, I've used slower refresh rate monitor screens and I don't have any of the blurring or ghosting you get with them. That's good! Now on to temperature and longevity. I've been building desktops for 20 years and no gaming PC I've ever built has exceeded 60-65C temps on the CPU in the middle of the summer upstairs in a bedroom. That's where you want to keep your chip temps so they last. This laptop regularly runs at 95C+ while playing any game and CoreTemp regularly logs 100C temps every session. As I type this review the 6 core temps are 84, 82, 84, 77, 82, and 74 - that's just running Chrome and the Amazon website. Using the Alienware software to turn down the performance and keep the fans running at max with a 3 fan USB cooling pad under it elevated on a monitor stand does nothing to cool this thing down. The area above the keyboard where the power switch sits gets - no joke - too hot to touch. CPUs are not designed to withstand that kind of heat. I wish I had returned this laptop as I know it's going to fail on me from overheating but at this point I'm just going to run it till it dies. I game mostly on my desktop and bought this to game in another room away from the family but it's just not going to last and the keyboard gets too hot to use. A real waste of money and my last Dell product. ... show more

  • No reason to buy it with better alternatives. Fans never turn off, even when just browsing.
Capacity: 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD
Pros: Great for only gaming, good framerates, with a slight underclock it had good temps like every laptop with an i7 8750H ->The NMVE SSD is really quick and snappy ->The screen quality is good, great IPS screen. ->Quick Wlan ->The keyboard is fine, I've used better ones but this one is fine Con: Not for regular work outside, I will elaborate in the points below ->Fan never turns off (even in light use, browsing etc) -I underclocked the laptop to 1ghz with throttle stop. Raised laptop 1 inch off the table for good air flow. I turned the fans to the lowest possible in the Alienware control center software (I uninstalled, with removing registry info and reinstalled it 3x, as well because I had lighting issues with Alienware keyboard lighting) and still didn't work. I updated all of the drivers and bios and nothing changed. I eventually got the temp went down to 38C in the CPU and GPU. One fan turned off because the laptop was cool enough but the 2nd fan kept going. The 2nd fan stayed on and never turned off. Never. It's always on. It is a constant swooshing sound that's very clearly audible in a quiet room. So if you're doing anything other than gaming in a quiet room and you don't want to here a constant swoosh while just browsing or checking your email this is not the right laptop for you. This is the things that made me return the laptop. I am sure a bios update and a software update might fix it. But this thing has been out since mid-2018. I honestly don't expect it will change. ->Battery life is bad if you get the smaller battery (which I had) -But I thought the advantage, was that instead there was space for a 2.5" HDD, and I already owned a 2.5' SSD. But it turns out it's near impossible to get it working. See below. ->Does NOT come with a 2.5" HDD caddy or wire and no extra screw for extra M.2 and no heatshield -Want to upgrade your laptop with a 2.5" HDD? = There is nothing to keep it stable and screwed into the chassis -Want to just tape the 2.5" HDD with really strong tape into the laptop and forget about the screws? = There is no wire to connect it to the motherboard and its a proprietary wire. -Want to upgrade with an M.2 instead? = There is no screw or heatshield to hold in place or keep it cool -Want to buy the separate pieces (HDD caddy, HDD cable to motherboard, screws, heatshield)? = DELL DOES NOT sell them, they say they can only give me the part numbers, I've even read on forums people not getting the part numbers from the Dell customer service. -Want to buy the parts online from ebay or any other online store with the part numbers? = No One Sell Them... near impossible to find, I couldn't find them anywhere. -> I did not like the mouse pad, it was small and felt like plastic and honestly a bad build for a high priced premium laptop. Also, when pushing down lightly on the mouse pad with the finger, you would get a creaking noise. This was light pressure, not enough pressure to get full click put a bit stronger than a tap. I am not the only that had this problem, it seems to be a design flaw. You could live with it if you're not a perfectionist but it's not nice. ->The bezel around the laptop is unnecessarily big. Especially for the price. This laptop sells close to the prices of the MSI GS65, ASUS Zephyrus, and the Gigabyte aero and all of them are smaller in form factor. ->The size and weight of the whole laptop is relatively large compared to the other options. -> The Alienware control centre was buggy with me, with issues with the lighting of the keyboard and the alienware sign even after uninstalling and installing it. Conclusion: why did I give it three stars? Honestly, if you only game on it, its a fine laptop. It gives high FPS, I use an external mouse, screen is fine, load times are fine, I don't mind the fan sound when I was gaming because its actually cooling the laptop and most people have a headset on. The problem for me is I wanted a laptop I could use for light use at home, email, and browsing and not making constant fine noises. I also wanted a laptop that I could take with me to work or study outside and this is not that laptop. It literally didn't fit in my backpack laptop pouch because it was just too large. The thing that bothered me the most were the fans that were literally always on, even if you cool it to the point that it does not need the fans to be on anymore. Also, the price was too much for a laptop that was heavier and bigger than its competitors. with more flaws. This laptop sells close to the prices of the MSI GS65, ASUS Zephyrus, and the Gigabyte aero and all of them are smaller in form factor and do everything better than the Alienware laptop. I am sad to say this but there is literally no reason to buy this with the alternatives around. I tried my best to like it and I didn't give up easily but it just didn't work out. It's sad because for gaming it was great but that's where it ended for me. ... show more
