  • Update: Now Replacing the Third Motherboard
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
UPDATE (12/7/22): I won't update after this but felt I should add that I received the laptop back from "Repair" (for the second time) two days ago. I had an issue last night where it won't restart with an external mouse connected. Got on tech chat and they are sending someone out to replace the motherboard AGAIN. So, this will be the third one for a computer I ordered on 9/3/22. If you have $2000 to gamble, go for it. But you might have better odds at the blackjack table. UPDATE (11/26/22): I’m removing one star because I can’t take two. Less than a month after getting this computer back from Dell (motherboard crashed and was replaced), I went to turn it on this morning and found it was, once again, completely unresponsive. Ran through all the same troubleshooting alone and again with Dell before being told to send it in again. So I’ve owned this for about 3 months and gotten about 6-7 weeks use out of it. This is ridiculous. Reading through other reviews I see I’m not the only one with issues like this but Dell mgr told me today there were “no known problems with this model.” I’m pretty ticked. This is my 3rd AW computer and definitely my last. I will update again if it turns out to be something other than motherboard or if their customer service miraculously improves. The two stars are because it's relatively fast, the screen is good, and the keyboard is the most comfortable laptop keyboard I've ever used. I've owned this m15 (AMD) since mid-September and the motherboard crapped out on me by mid-October. I sent it in for repairs, which that's great and all that it's covered, but it was right at a month old. I'd traveled with it up to that point so basically used it for a few hours at a time (documents, photos, internet) on the road. I noticed it was much heavier than other laptops but figured it's because it's so powerful. (Turns out when I shipped it back, it's just over 12 lbs altogether.) I didn't get to explore much or game with it up to that point. I was really excited to get it back yesterday, but it's been a mess to figure out which drivers I need to re-install. The diagnostics and update search on Dell's website no longer work for it. "Cannot complete..." Once I was finally able to get the Alienware apps back, I made a little more progress getting it set back up. I left the laptop on my desk with the lid closed, on Sleep for half an hour. On a whim, I checked the temps and found that it was running at 118 degrees F, set on "Balanced," with only email left open. Sadly, there is no hibernate option. I have a larger, 240 hz monitor I wanted to use when I'm working or gaming at home, but I can't keep the lid closed because the temps soar. So I'd need the space for it to be open and for the other monitor to be next to it, rather than tucking it under the monitor riser. It's just altogether disappointing and I honestly wish I hadn't bought it. It's not real portable and doesn't substitute for a PC in the way I needed it to. Sadly, this is the second Alienware computer I've felt this way about so I am likely looking for another brand but I'm stuck with a $2000 clunker for now. I'll make do, but how long can I expect it to last given that it bakes even when asleep? ... show more

  • Do NOT buy!
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
A very pretty laptop with some great specs at a great price? Sounds too good to be true, because it is! Motherboard died not even after a month of light use. Don't waste your time and money on this model, I was told by Dell there was a general issue and would probably have to change out my motherboard 5 or 6 times at least. ... show more

  • Nothing But Trouble
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
I bought this Laptop in April and have had quite a lot of trouble with it. As I write this review, I am on call with customer support. I had to return the laptop by December. The cord never stays attached to the laptop. It falls out without even touching it and the next thing you know the battery will be dying. I sent the the laptop back and a "refurbished" laptop was sent to me. The cord on this one frequently falls out. I am attempting to get this fixed on my 2 month old "refurbished" replacement and am being told it is "wear and tear". Also, the laptop (refurbished) will frequently start with it in repair mode. On occasion it will start in "blue screen of death" I am attempting to find out why with customer service and I am getting "I can walk you through fixing that". On a 2 month old replacement. Customer Service is pleasant at least. Not at all helpful this time. They were more helpful originally when I had the original laptop and couldn't wait to help me "replace" it. The replacement isn't worth it! 4/6/24 Update: After receiving a "Supervisors' approval, they agreed to fix the problems. A new logic board and new cords/'fixed the problem" with cords, I have it back from repair. So far, cord has only fallen out one time and no more start up issues. Final verdict.... DO NOT BUY! ... show more

  • Avoid Alienware
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
I've had my laptop just pay the warranty. Nothing but problems. Randomly blue screens, hangs out freezes. Loud as hell randomly. USB ports randomly drop devices. When it works it works great. Keeping it working is a different story. I've run diagnostics all hardware comes back fine but I've had to reinstall the OS twice. I've primarily been using it for school and occasional gaming. If you want a good laptop buy something other than Alienware. ... show more

  • Computer burned up just after one year
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
Computer burned up just after one year, and the original warranty expired. For such an expensive computer, I would expect better quality. Took it to approved Asurion repair store and was told the mother board was burned up, with a defective hard drive. They could not repair as they can't get the Dell parts. Very disappointing. This was a gift for a college student, who needed a quality computer for a graphics design major. This is not quality. ... show more

  • Bought an expensive but faulty computer.
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
I bought this Alienware laptop May 2023. It broke Sept 2023. I thought the power supply had gone bad and didn’t look into it (due to three surgeries) until February 2024. At that time I was told by Dell that the Warranty expired 12/23. I thought I had a year warranty. I took it to a repair shop and they said it was odd for the warranty not to be at least a year and they thought the motherboard could possibly need to be replaced. So I have a very expensive hunk of metal. ... show more

  • Laptop will shutdown by itself on regular bases.
Style: RTX3070Ti Capacity: 15.6"
At first i thought it was a great laptop, but really fast regular issues started appearing. slide to shut down was a big one shows up and even if u don't slide it it will shut down and will not start up again for 4-8 minutes. then it just started shutting down randomly. random shutting down appearing a lot now, when restarting you have to 'repair' the system what takes a while. not even playing heavy games on it mostly just for casual use. ... show more
