I actually bought both the Bluetooth version and the one with the knob. The one with the Bluetooth is hard to connect to unless you are in just the right spot and very close, but it’s really nice to be able to set the temp, as long as it can stay connected to Bluetooth long enough for you to set the temp. However, the Bluetooth one seems to shut off and on a lot. Seems to be when the area is close to the set temp. Not sure what that adds to the electric bill at this point and it does make it harder for the dog to acclimate to it. The one with the knob (no Bluetooth) does shut off at some point if the temp exceeds a certain point. And I have not found anything around it overly warm even if I forgot to turn it to low when the ambient temp got higher for a couple days… The thing that could be improved is the location of the knob. Of course that opens up the possibility for chewing and measures would have to be taken for that scenario, but the knob being in the top, where it’s going to be higher in your area, probably close to the top, it is hard to be able to see what you have the knob set to. So make sure you can see the knob because just turning it doesn’t click or anything to indicate where you are in the heat level. Both could have a slightly stronger fan, no louder…. Both could have a better metal sleeve for the cord, but the cord should not be accessible to the dog(s) anyway… But they do work…. They do give me piece of mind they aren’t freezing to death and I do not see these ever being able to catch anything on fire. I am very happy to have an option for the previously abused dog I cannot get in the house and the dog that can’t be freely around two of my other dogs yet. She’s an older dog that was abandoned in late fall so I haven’t had time to work with her and fear the weather and temperature in the mean time… ... show more

Heater works well and seems to be good quality. I wish the range of the Bluetooth was better, I have to be within a foot of the heater for it to work. Overall I am pleased with this heater.

Purchased , plugged in added app as I got the Bluetooth version. At first seemed great, settings changes were instant. Didn't blow a lot of air so wouldn't be a lot of wind on the pet is pretty warm to the touch but not harmful, it is a heater after all. Changed Temps to cycle it on amd off a few times and after cycling only a few times I noticed it was not moving air. I could feel radiant heat but no air. Inspected fan and saw the it would move 1/4 in. At a time randomly like it was trying to start . I imagine it is brushless and has been built with bushings amd not bearings so the life time or product is probably not what they say it is. I could blow on the fan to help it amd it would operate until next time and won't start. Heat still operated ..... so does that mean there is no safety limit temp sensor in heater element so it will shut off before it melts down and creates a fire. Have a replacement coming but still thinking I am not going to use this until I talk to the manufacturer and get more info..... got the new one. (Took a old one apart to inspect. ) It does have a high limit switch on the inside top cover I have been using it for a week or so and so far I am pleased with it. The thermostat placement is not going to give you what temp is actually is since heat from the housing is radiating to the stat but after watching it for a week amd seeing what the temp reads during the day and night you can kinda get a feel for it. I bought it for a young puppy put it in a dog house and put that in a unheated garage with a dog door to it. So the dog had a warm place to go while I'm at work instead of penned up in the house I've had it a few months and the heater is stilll working but the thermostat is crap doesn't regulate temperature, I have a temp gauge on the far end of the dog house near the door it stays in the mid 50's when running all the time but doesn't matter where I set the temp it's either on or off doesn't cycle on its own. If I had a better option I would send it back come spring I may tear into it to find the issue but for now I have it on a smart plug putting a timer so it kicks off in the evenings and nights, dog sleeps in a kennel in the house. ... show more

    • Need To Keep The Hound Heater Clean!!

These units have a small fan in the back to move the warm air and its imperative to keep the screen covering the fan free from hair and dust. I have five units and the fan in one stopped working after two months due to some hair over the screen. Emailed the company and they are sending a new fan. Long term reliability has not been established in my kennel but they have done a good job keeping the dogs warm (English setters) down to one degree F. ... show more

    • Great Idea and good heater for a couple of months

I needed a heater I could use in a Kennel in my car. This heater was the best option and worked great until the fan went out about two months after purchasing. It went out on the coldest day of the year so that was not great. I decided to see if I could return it for another one and Amazon let me. It was a super easy return process and they sent a new one before they received the broken one. We will see if this new one makes it the rest of the season in Colorado. ... show more

    • Bluetooth is horrible, will try knob setting kind

Bluetooth type heater has to remain in very close proximity to stay on. Worthless if it doesn’t stay on. Do they expect me to leave phone outside while I sleep? Lost connection as soon as I entered back door 6 feet away. I will try the knob setting type.
