  • Amazing value for 45 dollars
Color: Misty white-AstroAim Switch
I picked up the Akko MOD 68 HE for $45 and honestly it has been one of the best keyboard purchases I’ve made. The build quality feels much more premium than I expected for the price and it looks great on my desk. The hall effect switches feel very responsive and smooth which made a noticeable difference in games. I mainly play Fortnite and after getting used to the keyboard my edits felt faster and more consistent. Rapid trigger works really well and the keyboard feels very precise when making quick movements. For everyday use it’s also been surprisingly comfortable. Typing feels smooth and not overly loud and I can use it for long periods without any issues. The software was easy enough to set up and being able to adjust the actuation settings is a nice feature that lets you customize the experience. My only real complaint is that I wish Akko included a wrist rest in the box. The keyboard sits a little higher than some others and a matching wrist rest would have made the overall package even better. Other than that I have very few complaints. For $45 this keyboard feels like an incredible value and competes with products that cost much more. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable hall effect keyboard for gaming and everyday use. ... show more

  • Dear God the Sound…
Purchased when it was on sale for $45, which was a great price for a full aluminum HE 65% keyboard. Out of the box it looks and feels awesome, punching way above its price point… but then I did a type test and got through one sentence before packing it up. I couldn’t get past the clacky/pingy of the AstroAims and sound with the spacebar being by far the worst offender. Also, minor gripe, the USB slot was super thin so most of my go-to coiled cords wouldn’t slot in. From all the reviews, this thing is a great board and I generally like Akko for their switches, so this was a gut punch. ... show more

  • Solid budget hall effect board, so long as you use Windows
Color: Black Transparent-AstroAim Switch
I am not a big PC gamer these days, but I have noticed the big trend right now with gaming keyboards is hall effect switches. I consider myself a keyboard enthusiast, and I've put together many boards in the past, but I have somehow never had a 60% board OR a hall effect board. When I saw this available on Amazon Vine, I figured, why not? Initial impressions? This thing is HEAVY. It is DENSE and made of aluminum that has a coated silver finish. I really, REALLY like the way the board itself looks and feels. It's a dang tank and I don't think this would ever be pushed or nudged off the desk unintentionally. In contrast to the board, the keycaps are... adequate? They're fine. They are transparent black OEM/Cherry style caps with printed legends, so nothing really extraordinary. I would have preferred to go semi-transparent if it meant having caps that were double-shot so they wouldn't degrade over time. The keycaps do feel somewhat cheap and plasticy, which is crazy given the overall heft the rest of the board has. The switches though are the star of the show. I believe Akko has two different HE switches (I forget their names), but the one I received was the lighter of the two. I would say they feel relatively standard, but a bit scratchy. I am unfamiliar with a ton of other magnetic switch brands, but if I had to compare these to anything, I'd say they feel the most like un-lubricated linear switches from Cherry or Gateron. They're light, which is the whole point of the whole hall-effect thing. You should be able to just gently tap the keys and have it register as input, and I feel the keyboard does that very well. I can't really speak to whether or not this will make you a better gamer since I don't game frequently on PC, nor do I play the highly competitive titles that HE keyboards cater to, but I can at least confirm that the concept works. Acoustically, the board is on par with most other linear boards I've tried. Akko did layer the interior of the board generously with different sound dampening materials, so I'd say the sound doesn't travel much, but there is still a noticeable amount of noise. I will say, the noise isn't "pingy" or hollow, which is a very nice thing as many many gamer oriented brands can often come across sounding that way. Driver/setting wise, this thing is a mixed bag. I recently switched my main PC over to Linux, so I had to fiddle with things a bit in order to properly configure the board. There are some basic settings you can adjust out of the box with on-board shortcuts, but the nitty gritty configuration of layers and lighting is still reserved for Akko's cloud driver software. This software is just a web configurator, but keep in mind that you have to use Chrome (or a chromium based browser like Edge) in order for the board to be recognized by the website. I can say this is less of an Akko issue and more of a me issue, but I also use Firefox, so I had to download Chrome, set the user-agent to "Windows" AND do some Linux terminal shenanigans in order for the board to be recognized. It IS doable, but it's fickle (and I guarantee you that Akko will never tell you this). So keep that in mind if you are part of the growing minority of Linux gamers. Overall, this board is totally okay. I don't think I will be using it as my main keyboard, but it's hefty, looks good and feels ROCK solid.. The price is also pretty decent compared to some other options out there. For around $80, I think this is a valid choice for newcomers to the hell effect scene, albeit so long as they are okay with linear (slightly scratchy) switches and run Windows. ... show more

  • My new daily driver
Fantastic quality keyboard. The full metal body feels extremely solid and premium, and it’s very well insulated with absolutely no hollow sound or annoying pinging. Everything about the construction feels like a serious step above most gaming keyboards, and the weight of the board keeps it perfectly in place even when gaming gets intense. The switches are excellent, and the amount of customization you get with the magnetic switches is incredible. Between the adjustable actuation and rapid trigger settings, you can really dial this keyboard in for extremely precise and fast reactions. The 8K polling rate combined with the magnetic switches makes this one of the most responsive keyboards I’ve ever used. You can get incredibly fast inputs with barely any key press, and for competitive gaming I think this is about as close to instant reaction time as you can realistically get from a keyboard. Akko’s web-based driver is also great. It gives you plenty of settings to customize without forcing you to download invasive software just to configure your keyboard. The RGB is bright and beautiful, especially with the shine-through design, and really completes the look of the keyboard. Overall, I’ve been absolutely loving this keyboard. It has become my daily driver and is easily one of the best gaming keyboards I’ve used. ... show more

  • Amazing Value
Color: Misty white-AstroAim Switch
This keyboard blew me away and is my new daily driver. From the full aluminum body and premium keys to the lightweight software, I couldn’t be happier. The build quality is just above and beyond any keyboard I’ve used. The weight of the full aluminum body makes it feel like a brick on the desk, providing a premium feeling to the typing experience. It certainly doesn’t slide around as it’s also paired with larger rubber feet. The white is very pure and looks amazing on the desk. Overall, the body makes other keyboards in this price range look like toys. The keys are nice and smooth with a solid, thocky-like sound. They feel pre-lubed and overall are a great typing experience with a good balance for both typing and gaming. The keycaps are also a translucent clear that looks beautiful with the RGB backlight. Keep in mind though that they aren’t shiny through keycaps and don’t light the keycap letters. Software-wise, it’s pretty minimal, but I’ve come to really prefer that. I’d rather the software stay out of my way. It has just the basics, which is all I need: some basic color profiles (with customization if you want it), full programmable keys and layers, and control of the actuation distance with the magnetic sensor. I was able to get it set the way I want and never open it again. Overall, I’m really happy with this keyboard. It gives a great typing experience, a premium feeling chassis, and a solid set of features for a very reasonable price. ... show more

  • Decent, but not great
Color: Misty white-AstroAim Switch
I've used a couple other HE keyboards, so I figured I see how this one was when the Vine opportunity arose. Solid feel out of the box, but the typing feel and sound were far below the other boards (Keychron) that I have used. The other boards had Gateron switches in them, and perhaps that's the big difference here. In the MX world Akko switches aren't that great, except for the ones that aren't actually made by Akko, like the Cilantro (made by HMX). I guess Akko doesn't do magnetic switches that well either. Akko web driver software felt a bit clunky, too, compared to the Keychron software. I will say that this keyboard comes in at considerably less money than the Keychron offerings, but I'd pay the extra to get better over all quality. ... show more

  • Premium look and feel
This keyboard feels really premium with the aluminum case and semi-translucent keycaps which add a unique feel to the overall design. It has a nice compact 65% layout which is ideal for gaming as it takes up less space. It also comes with an aluminum plate which gives it a clacky sound signature right out of the box. The switches are magnetic and so actuation can be adjusted among many other things, making this even better for gaming. The switches feel smooth, the stabilizers have no rattling sound out of the box and the RGB is super vibrant too. Overall, this is an awesome keyboard. ... show more
