Works better than the others

Overall the AKASO is best for me. I have ordered and returned a Bushnell and Bestguarder IR monocular in the same price range . Did not like much about the Bushnell. The Bestguarder was alright and took good quality images but the field of view was too narrow for me for both the . The AKASO is an amazing piece of equipment. In the video the houses across the lake are 350-450 yards. It was a dark night and i could see them like daylight even without the infrared turned on. With the infrared on there is no hiding, i can see everything in my back yard. Don't expect perfection, the night time images and videos are a bit grainy past 150 yards. However, the fact that i can see so well is amazing and perfect for me. Also, i tripod mount mine for and can get some interesting images of the night sky. The Akaso shows 100x more stars than i can see with my bare eye. The controls are super easy once you learn them and buttons are not hard to find in the dark On the negative side, I have not been able to get the app to work well yet (but that is probably me) and if I could make a suggestion to the manufacturer, it would be to add a time lapse feature as long as it does not overcomplicate the device. So, first of all I want to say this was very impressive for night time binoculars. I love looking at the stars and was pleasantly surprised at how clear the pics were compared to my other binoculars. On the ground, they pulled in stuff from quite a few yards away, however, things were blurry and very grainy for this being a night time "full color" pair of binoculars. I could not make out a sign which was a few yards away. The black and white option, however, was crystal clear and better than my other binoculars. The zoom was better than my other binoculars but you could not zoom the full amount or it was grainy, day or night. Night time was really bad. I had high hopes for the zoom but was disappointed that three clicks of the zoom was the clearest three mor clicks and it was too grainy to see anything but bluey colors. I'm sure as they keep upgrading these one day they will be awesome but right now, they are okay. They were quite expensive for the quality you get and for what I wanted them for I decided to return them and get a smart telescope. ... show more

Good product for the money!

I have never owned a pair of night vision goggles before so I do not have a very great point of reference. These are in no way military grade however they are very neat to see things in the backyard when it’s dark in color in the middle of the night. I am not a hunter so I don’t have a use for these for that, but this will be very useful in case my dog doesn’t want to come back in the middle of the night and I am out wondering where he is. Meanwhile, he is only maybe 50 feet away and just distracted, sniffing something and will come back when he darn pleases. With the dual batteries, you should always have power ready to go. The case for the batteries also has a charging port so you can charge both batteries at once that’s a nice design. It does have up to 16 X zoom however I could not find an object far enough away that I needed to zoom in on to make sure that this worked correctly That I worked great though and this is a nice pair of goggles for this price point. They are light weight as well, so they are not heavy to keep steady or upright when you hold them. ... show more

Decent night vision

The color mode needs SOME ambient light to work. When there is just a little bit of light the color is great! Very weird to see color at night. If it's pitch black, you should switch to IR mode. IR mode works great, and the IR illuminator is very powerful. Manual focus in the dark is challenging. In color mode, the unit is VERY sensitive to movement. A tripod is STRONGLY recommended. USB-C input on the unit is brain dead. Really? No data transfer capability and it only gets power using the supplied cable. The Android APP is currently only useful for updating the firmware. You must scroll several items to turn on the Wi-Fi. Missing Bluetooth support is interesting as a low power alternative. Overall, I like the device - it's a fairly expensive 'toy' but it does work great with just a short learning curve. ... show more

Great idea not ready for prime time (if you need something dependable)

These goggles seem to have the best in class image capabilities compared to similar products, albeit it is more expensive as well. We had to return them because the firmware running the device was just too flaky. It rarely could be used for more than 10 minutes without the screen freezing up and the buttons no longer working - requiring taking the battery out to restart. The buttons for the menus are very difficult to figure out and the user instructions do not help. Technical support online is poor as well. I would recommend waiting for something better if you can. ... show more

Impresive, tried others before but thse are something else, can see in pitch darkness a grainy color image with zero ir and when ir is switched on the whole area shows brightly, can see stars that normally I can not due to city lights, focus is nice, does get more grainy the more you zoom but for the price these would be pretty hard to beat, the build quality is good, the case is nice and thick and very padded, definitely made the right choice. ... show more

Very Inexpensive, but this is NOT a Serious Functional Working Device

This is ok. I mean I really did not expect Gen III+/IV NVG performance for the price, but its functional. Not hard to use, but the image is almost too grainy to be of any use outside of a few 10's of feet. I've used it in a field with over 3/4 mile visibility and its almost useless in that arena. It is fun to mess around with and I suppose it might make an interesting toy/device for some young folks to play with. But as a tool for farm use / hunting / hiking, its not very good at all.
