I've been using the AKASO Brave 8 Action Camera for a while now, and it's a game-changer. Whether you're an amateur or a professional videographer, this camera packs a punch with its advanced features and reasonable price. I'm going to break down my findings into 6 categories, this is a must read if you are on the fence about this camera 1. Design and Build Quality The first thing I noticed about the Brave 8 is its sleek and durable design. It's built to handle the rough and tumble of outdoor adventures. Its compact size and lightweight feel make it easy to carry around and mount anywhere, from my helmet to my body harness. Plus, with its waterproof housing, I can take it up to 33 feet underwater without any worries—perfect for my beach trips. 2. Video and Photo Capabilities When it comes to capturing moments, the Brave 8 doesn’t disappoint. The 48MP sensor produces incredibly clear and detailed photos. For videos, it supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, which means my footage always looks smooth and lifelike, even during fast-paced action shots. I also love the variety of shooting modes available, like time-lapse, slow motion, and burst mode, which give me plenty of creative options. 3. Image Stabilization One of the standout features for me is the advanced image stabilization. It dramatically reduces camera shake, so my videos are always smooth and stable, even when I’m hiking down a rocky trail or skiing. This feature alone has made a noticeable difference in the quality of my videos. 4. User Interface and Connectivity Navigating the camera is a breeze thanks to its intuitive and responsive touchscreen. I can easily switch between settings and modes without any hassle. The Wi-Fi connectivity is another great feature—it allows me to transfer files and control the camera remotely using the AKASO GO app. This makes managing and sharing my footage incredibly convenient. 5. Battery Life and Accessories The Brave 8 comes with a solid battery life that lets me shoot for extended periods without constantly needing to recharge. The package also includes various accessories, like multiple mounts and an extra battery, adding value and flexibility for different shooting scenarios. 6. Performance in Low Light I’ve been impressed with how well the Brave 8 performs in low-light conditions. The high-quality sensor and advanced processing capabilities mean that my night shots and indoor footage are clear and detailed, with minimal noise. ***Final Verdict*** All in all, the AKASO Brave 8 Action Camera has been an excellent addition to my gear. It delivers top-notch performance across the board, with high-resolution imaging, impressive stabilization, and user-friendly features. Whether I'm exploring the outdoors or just capturing everyday moments, this camera has proven to be reliable and versatile. With its durable build, extensive accessory kit, and great price, the Brave 8 is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to capture high-quality action footage. ... show more

    • Great and affordable action camera
Set name: Standard Bundle
Review Image by Daniel
The Akaso Brave 8 Lite is a great little camera with many fun features. The image quality is great in good light and the HDR mode is very useful for anyone wanting more dynamic range for later grading. Being able to transfer the footage wirelessly is also great. I like to edit my videos on my iPhone so it’s very convenient to be able to transfer the files directly to my phone. I did notice that transferring many files simultaneously can result in the camera getting hot, so I usually transfer a few at the time instead. The mage stabilization is sufficient for walking, hiking, and riding a bike on level ground. I mostly use the camera for hiking with my dogs and I have no complaints. For someone needing a camera for more extreme sports, it might be best to compare the image stabilization against other cameras first. One of my favorite features on the Akaso Brave 8 Lite is the hyperlapse mode. It’s a lot of fun and it’s easy to get great results. I use this feature for out of town trips and it’s very easy to set the camera up for desired results. This brings me to the menu. The swipe functionality of the screen makes it very easy to get to all settings quickly. Changing from still picture to video or hyperlapse, or changing the resolution or white balance is easy and intuitive in my opinion. The camera comes with a charger, two batteries, remote and several accessories for mounting the camera in various ways. I have one of the mounts permanently attached to the dashboard of my car. My only gripe with the camera is the door to the memory card. It’s a little bit difficult to get open and you have to use both hands to unlock the latch and open it simultaneously. Overall, this is a great camera that’s priced very competitively. It comes with a lot of accessories, the video quality is great in good light, and it’s feature rich. For anyone looking for a camera in this price bracket, the Akaso Brave 8 Lite is hard to beat. ... show more

    • Decent performance for occasional use.
Set name: Standard Bundle
Let's see how it performs. Starting with its design, the Brave 8 Lite is impressively compact and lightweight. Its compact size is a boon. It makes it incredibly portable and easily fits any gear or backpack, ensuring you're always ready for your next adventure. Encased in a grippy rubberized shell, it feels secure in the hand. The plastic port covers are flimsy, which is a minor drawback. Moreover, it's designed to be waterproof to 10 meters, a standard feature for action cameras in this range, ensuring it can withstand the elements during your outdoor escapades. Now, let's move on to what matters most: performance. The Brave 8 Lite features a 2.5 x 5.8 cm sensor and a 20 MP photo resolution, ideal for capturing our adventures. 4K video quality is good in good lighting conditions, with vibrant colors and acceptable sharpness. However, it struggles in low-light situations, producing noticeable noise that can affect overall image quality. A standout feature is the inclusion of HDR video and Flashback mode, which allows me to capture footage even before hitting the record button, in addition to excellent features for unpredictable action scenes. It also supports several shooting modes, such as time-lapse, hyper-lapse, and slow-motion, although the latter is limited to 2.7K resolution. As for stabilization, this is where the Brave 8 Lite falls a bit short compared to its high-end counterparts. Footage stabilization is decent for casual use. Battery life is respectable, offering up to 150 minutes of recording at 1080p resolution, which is quite good for a camera at this price. However, in 4 K30 mode (16.9 kHz resolution), the battery life was 86.33 minutes. It's important to note that the battery life may vary depending on the resolution and frame rate you choose, so it's advisable to carry spare batteries for longer shoots. It's also app-compatible, providing a user-friendly interface for easier control and management of your footage, giving you more control over your content creation. Cons: The lens gets hot while the camera is on. Recording isn't continuous; it's done in 10-minute-and-40-second intervals. This means that an 86.33-minute recording is divided into nine files, and downloading them takes a while. As a beginner, I was looking for a basic action camera with decent performance for everyday and occasional photography. So yes, it's worth considering for its price, and I bought it on sale. Its compact size, good video quality, good lighting, and diverse features make it an excellent option for beginners like me or those looking to get started in the world of action cameras without a significant investment. With this, I conclude my review of the Akaso Brave 8 Lite. I give it four stars. ... show more

If you are looking for a high quality, compact, budget friendly, easy to use action camera; then look no further my friend. Right off the bat, once you open the box, Akaso gives you about 90% of the equipment you will need to place the camera pretty much anywhere. I absolutely love the wireless wrist remote, which comes in handy when you are in the middle of your activity. They even give you an extra battery so you can keep the action going without waiting for a full charge. Brave 8 Lite feels durable and sturdy so you know it can survive a harsh fall incase you drop it by accident. The video looks absolutely incredible, especially when you have it set to 4K at 60 frames per second, and I love all the different options you have from HDR, time-lapse, slow motion, etc. One of the best parts I think is the AKASO GO App. Not only are you able to control Brave 8 Lite with your phone, but you are able to edit videos on the go with the App. It's so convenient and useful especially when you have to post on social medial right away. I also gotta mention the Akaso App community is awesome! Everyone posts regularly and they got amazing content! Overall it's like what I said, "It's a very good, high quality camera, if you are looking for something that takes it easy on the pocket." ... show more

    • Hard to switch to
Set name: Standard Bundle
I purchased the AKASO Brave 8, since our GoPro was getting older. I really did like that it came with a good amount of accessories and happy with the customer services. Unfortunately the base was cracked before even getting to use it. Amazon replaced it promptly and I was able to get to use it within a few days. When first using, be sure to read through the directions good. It takes good quality photos and video, but the WiFi functionality was far from desirable. I attempted to transfer the data a few times and had issues saying files not supported or would just time out. I was able to get the data though by pulling the micro sd card out. The audio commands were also cumbersome but I am sure you could get use to it. Ultimately I returned the camera and continued to use my older GoPro. It does have good value, but just beware that there are quirks that can take some getting use to. ... show more
