After trying, I don't know, maybe a dozen bad solutions for storing hex bits in an organized and easy to retrieve way, I bought the Airtoon magnetic hex bit holders, then I bought more of them. The set includes one red holder and one green, the first step in NOT sorting through a bunch of bits to find what you want. Changing the assortment of bits in a holder is a snap. The bonus is that the holders not only hold the bits with just the right amount of magnetic pull but the base has enough pull for the entire holder to stick to surfaces [magnetic compatible of course], even vertical ones. I have one holder filled with bits I'm likely to use on the car and another with bits that are appropriate for home repairs. Each holder is easily moveable to where it's needed, when it's needed. The individual bits are easy to get out of the holder unlike some of the ones I had in the past that depended on a slightly too small hole to capture the bit. Likewise, replacing a bit is a breeze, just get it part way in the hole and the magnet pulls it in securely. The "business end" of each bit is held straight up so deciding which bit to pick is easy. You can store bits of just about any length so I can keep the basic short straight bits with the 3 inch and six inch atraight bits. I guess the best thing I can say about these holders is that I now have EIGHT of them scattered around the house, shop and garage.

For whatever reason, I never really thought about having a way to store all my extra bits. I have a lot of them too.. They are ALL in a zip lock bag, so when it's time to need one or a couple, I have to dump the bag and sort through them all. I did that for years and never really thought about it. I think I found a picture somewhere or even here on amazon and thought, that's a really nice idea to hold the bits. These are pretty decent. They are hefty and the entire bottom is a magnet. So they will stick to a toolchest or shelf no problem. Two things and this is completely personal preference. I actually wish that there were MORE holes in this, or it was larger. Something like a 60-piece holder would be wonderful! And the second would be that I wish some of the holes were slightly bigger in diameter. If the hex bit is normal, it fits no problem, but if it gets wider at the top and out put it in the opening it doesn't actually sit and held by the magnet. When you turn or move it around those bits that aren't being held in fall out, and it's because the diameter of the bit on the top is too wide. A couple of my holders I had to screw the little screws in more at the bottom since they were scratching my workbench. Not a big deal but keep that in mind. They should recess the screw holes and it would prevent this. How it sits now they are almost just pinching the bottom part. I like these though! I filled up all 3 holders in a matter of minutes. I'll probably need to order more.

If you have an abundance of loose 1/4” bits just laying around, these are awesome solutions to you problem, nothing like putting your hand directly on something your looking for and being able to get it with out searching for it, this are just for you, holds 43 bits, magnetic bottom plate to hold bit securely
