We just built our house last year. It is still very new. I had no idea what the inside of my AC looked like. When this became available, I figured I would give it a try. I went to install it, and I noticed lots of white slimy stuff on many parts of the coil in my AC. My AC has that foil backed insulation, so I installed this light on one side of my coil (because of clearance issues) and the light bounces off the foil and lights up the entire area inside there. After a week, I took the cover off and my AC no longer has the slimy residue. I can only imagine the impact this will have on our family's health. I installed this light on our upstairs unit. After the success, I have ordered the bigger kit that does even more sanitization, for our down stairs air handler. That will sanitize the air in the more public part of our home. This air has more potential for contamination, as it is where we cook, and entertain guests, it is also where we enter the home after being out in public. So sanitizing that air will be a bigger priority. This kit is very easy to install. It even comes with an appropriately sized circle saw, that easily cut through my steel AC cabinet. My saw blade did not have the chuck bit and pilot drill, but fortunately I have a very similar circle saw kit, with different sized blades, and the chuck bit and pilot bit fit this blade perfectly. If you don't have that, and your kit does not come with it, you may be making a trip to ace or lows. But the blade cuts great. i was worried, because I initially tried a cheaper blade I had with a different chuck bit, and it would not cut the cabinet. So I found my bit that fit the included blade, and that setup cut right through. It's unusual for a kit to actually come with quality tools, that is why I mentioned it. Too bad they did not include everything. I did not take any stars off for this, because I don't think it is the manufacturers responsibility to equip a customer with tools, but it is a very nice offering.

We had 2 of an earlier version of these Air+Health UV-C lamp units in our residential HVAC system since ~2002, their ballasts both finally died, fortunately the new ballast bases are backwards-compatible. The OEM bulbs (#46444900, EPA #59662-NC-1) are nominally rated to last 16.5 months (24,000hrs), and are a relatively powerful 30W, providing a specified intensity of 62 μW/cm²@1m / 7874 μW/cm²@1in / 21,948 μW/cm²@0in. It's best to mount these lights just "downstream" from the HVAC chiller (on the supply air side) to help keep the coils pathogen-free; also note that some HVAC air filters (on the return air side) can be damaged by exposure to intense UV-C light. There are other "compatible" 4-pin UV-C bulbs available that are only 5W or 9W and work poorly or not at all with these 30W Air+Health ballast bases, buyer beware (their lower prices are "too good to be true"). Effectiveness of killing airborne pathogens is directly proportional to their cumulative UV-C exposure, less powerful bulbs might cost less, but they are much less effective. Leaving your HVAC system on "Circulate" with a low fan speed increases UV-C exposure of airborne pathogens, increasing lamp effectiveness.

The bulbs suck. I don’t know if they break the pins after testing them, but the big pin (annoyingly proprietary) is bent to crap and there’s stuff rolling around in the light. I’ll be lucky if they last a month. Bought two of them to replace a single unit I had. Install is easy enough but I hate this proprietary bs especially when their stuff is substandard.

The unit is well packaged and well documented for install. It also comes with the hole saw with the needed mandrel. It too longer to figure where to install and how to power. The install itself is about 15 minutes. A couple caveats you should know: 1) you cannot install near a whole house humidifier installed in the supply duct. It would need to go before the humidifier. 2) if installed in the supply side it needs to be at least 6 feet from the filter or 3 feet if installed in an 90° elbow before the filter.

Pro: The bulb and ballast are good. It was easy to mount and suits it's purpose Con: It included a 1 1/2 inch hole saw in the package, but did not include the Arbor to attach the saw to a drill. I would have saved money by returning the hole package and just buying a 30 watt UV light without the additional BS. (the Arbor I bought was $25) This must have been a recent change for the manufacturer their included documentation showed the hole saw with arbor in several pictures/diagrams, but what was packaged with the product didn't include. Always Shop carefully

It was a simple install and seems to be working as expected. It would have been better if there was a clear lens to cover the view hole so its not blowing air through it. That's why I only gave it 4 stars...

Easy to install on my hvac unit. I don't know why they even send the holesaw if they aren't going to send the bit part. Other than that product seems to be working.
