Someone decided to put a window in our shower. It had a blind on it but I hated the look of it and thought it was kind of gross having it in there. I bought this expecting the worst. I recommend cleaning the windows first with some krud kutter. You have no idea how much this will help. I then filled a small spray bottle with Dawn dish soap and water. I sprayed a section of the window at a time. I then cut sections of the vinyl, leaving some overhang on two of the sides. I then unpeeled the vinyl and sprayed the back of it (the sticky side) as I peeled. This allows it to not stick to itself and be able to adjust on the window once it's on there. I placed on the window and used a credit card (because I couldnt find a squeegee) and carefully removed the bubbles. Once I had it mostly set down, I used a blow dryer on high speed to dry it to the window while still using the credit card for any pesky bubbles. Once I felt like it was mostly stuck down, I used a knife to trim the excess. It did come up a bit in the corners but in those spots I used scissors to trim the corners and then used the credit card to lay them back down. There were a couple spots on the glass that when I ran the card over it, it tore the vinyl. This is quite thin so make sure you clean those windows. The first piece I did on the lower frame, had a small tear so I took it off but when I got to the top I didnt have enough vinyl to finish so I ended up having to use that piece. All in all, I'm quite happy with how it came out. It allows nice light through but you cannot see out of it. Take your time, clean those windows first and you'll get a nice result. If you have never used an adhesive window film there is a small learning curve. Purchase more than you need in case of a mishap putting it on. However, when you get the hang of it, it goes on well and the adhesive is great.

    • What I needed
I never have luck with the static cling window stuff, which is why I bought this. It is easy to install, from experience in previous homes it is also easy to remove, even after being on a window in direct sun 6-8 hours a day for three years. I didn't want to hang curtains in my bedroom, I have really nice wood slat blinds. The previous owners hung them and spaced them a little too far outside the window, causing about an inch gap on the sides so when it is dark out and lights are on you can see in...not ideal. Put this up on the two windows and now don't have to worry about anyone seeing something they shouldn't or don't want to. (My house is on enough of an incline that the bedroom windows can be seen over the fence and from the road.) ... show more

Got this film since it was a permanent adhesive type and not the static cling film. Installation is a bit tricky and you really need to use a soapy water solution to precoat the glass and film prior to installation. This allows you to reposition the shift the film around and squeegee out all the air bubbles. Seems to stick ok as none of the edges have lifted. I like the amount of frost, it gives a lot of privacy while still allowing in a lot of light. The one problem I have is that the film is not consistent. I have banded stripes along every portion. See attached photo. It looks like a tiger stripe. I thought it might need to fully dryout and set but after 3 days the banding is still there. I don't know if I got a bad batch or if this is how it is. I wanted a more uniform even frosting. ... show more

It looks great and does the trick! Before, I had shades on my bath window but wanted a more minimal look and the added space for my stuff. Measure the window, cut the adhesive paper. Cut on the side with the lines facing you, that way you can use the lines to guide you in a straight line. Use a ruler and a blade to slice along the lines. I measured a few millimeters or two additional just incase. Make sure your blade is sharp so it doesn’t snag and ruin the edges. Spray both sides like it says in the instruction and spray the window as well. I used window cleaner the first time and I messed it up so I would advise using water like it says. Peel the paper from the backing. Try and do it evenly because if you crease the paper you get a mark. Put on window and smooth with a credit card (or if you have a smoothing tool) and slice the excess off with a sharp blade. The first time I did it, there was some blotchy brown spots so I had to order more. When I removed the blotchy film from the window it left a residue of glue. Just spray and use a blade to scrape residue off glass. I wouldn’t use goop gone to remove the residue. Make sure it’s perfectly cleaned off before reapplying.
