I ran some tests and it turns out that this reduces my refractive noise floor by about 25%. (At a corner desk.) Here’s the thing… I see a lot of people making commentary on this who don’t actually understand anything about professional audio engineering. This device is for reflection control. It’s what’s known as a wall treatment. It is not the job of a wall treatment to soundproof anything. It does not change the reflectivity of the room you are in. It does not prevent outside noise from approaching your microphone. None of those are its job. It’s job is to reflect your actual voice… in a scattered direction that fractures it, so that it cannot arrive at a wall or a flat surface with The uniform power necessary to create a solid echo … at a ratio of about 9 dB reduction from the perspective of the microphone. A normal singer generates approximately 80 dB of original sound pressure, as a source, while recording. This has the capacity theoretically to reduce the portion of that that continues onward to create refractions by approximately 9 dB by providing a barrier. Depending on how bad your room is the slap back or echo in your recording will never be more than 40% of your signal and in most cases will be approximately 12% of your signal … So in the best case scenario, this could improve your recording by approximately 6%. In most cases it will be more like three or 4% of the sound pressure. And in the cases where we are working on serious narration that is absolutely worth it. There is simply no successfully distributed Producer of broadcast or streaming material in America Who would not immediately pay $30 for a likely 3% narration improvement. That’s just not a serious consideration. The only question most of them would have is: why aren’t we spending more money and why aren’t we doing it properly in an isolation booth? There’s a second problem which is the most important: the thread size is wrong for all standard mic stands in the US. You can force it with a wrench. It will work. But it endangers your existing stand threads to wrench a badly machined nut like this onto them. I tried it w 3 different mic stands. None matched. Their threading tolerance at the machine shop was wrong.

Does what it is suppose to do as long as you don't need to move it. The screws tend to loosen and I even had the whole thing fall off the boom unexpectedly. Check the screws everytime you use this shield.

Too small like my rooster. I know the measurements are on the description but Jesus Christ these are the smallest inches ever this thing looks like a complete joke for $50 honestly it should only cost $19 free shipping because it's so small and poorly made it will not help your vocals at all save your money and put a egg box behind your microphone instead of this crap. Like I said it's some more like my rooster 🐤
