  • Aoostar AG02 eGPU Dock + Aoostar Maco M6850H
Model: AG02
I've had the Aoostar Maco M6850H for a few months now and, I ended up splurging on the AG02 eGPU dock and throwing an Intel Arc A580 in it. Initially wanted to run local AI models and finally have something capable enough for Resident Evil 9 and Pragmata. No regrets so far. AG01 vs AG02 I went back and forth on this longer than I'd like to admit. The AG02 costs a bit more, but it has a higher power rating and USBc support, so it won me over. I don't really use USBc, on OccuLink the whole time for the bandwidth. But the option's there if a friend comes over with a laptop and needs it. The PSU also has plenty of headroom for a GPU upgrade, which is either great news or terrible news depending on how much you trust yourself around a sale. I probably don't trust myself. Set Up Honestly, I was braced for a headache. Surprisingly there was no headache, Power cable, OccuLink, seat the GPU, done. I sat there waiting for something to go wrong and nothing did. If you've never used an eGPU dock before, you're not gonna struggle. Just keep in mind that OccuLink isn't hot-swappable like USBc is. That doesn't bother me since this thing lives permanently on my desk, but it's worth knowing upfront if you have a modular setup. Build Quality At this price I was fully expecting a hollow plastic box that flexed, but it felt genuinely premium the moment I picked it up. Solid metal chassis, cool to the touch, no creaks or rattles. It has that kind of heft where you just know it's built properly. The finish is smooth and clean, honestly gives off Apple vibes, which sounds like a weird thing to say about a PC peripheral, but there it is. It also matches the Maco aesthetically, which I wasn't expecting and appreciated more than I probably should have. Aesthetics The open frame design leaves the GPU completely exposed and I am absolutely here for it. It looks a bit nerdy, yes, but in a way that's satisfying to have on your desk rather than embarrassing. There's something weirdly enjoyable about watching the fans spin up when a model's loading or a game kicks in. It has personality. More than most tech at this price. Is It Worth It? If you've got a mini PC and you're thinking about dipping into eGPU territory, the AG02 is a genuinely easy recommendation. It's priced fairly, built better than it has any right to be, and setting it up takes about five minutes. I went in skeptical and came out impressed. That doesn't happen as often as it should. TLDR YES! Go for it, worth every penny! ... show more

  • Sturdy and seems to do the job. Sturdy and seems to do the job.
Model: AG02
Finally an eGPU that is working with both Oculink and TB/USB4. I have a RX9070XT that didn't like my Minisforum DEG1, but was working with an older GDC Exp Beast. A few weeks ago, for some reason (possibly microsoft updates) the latter also stopped working, and I had to resort to an older RX6750XT with the DEG1. With the AG02, I managed to get my RX9070XT working in both oculink and TB/USB4 mode, which was nice. TB is good for hot plugging but seems to drop about 10-14% compared to oculink in my setup. Fans are quiet so at rest it's not an issue, and under load, it's just a little louder. The device is solid and well built, quite compact considering it has the PSU incorporated into it. The GPU is held quite securely. Works with my desktop (Aoostar WTR Max), GPD win max 2 and MSI claw A8 handheld. The oculink and TB/USB cables are a bit short though. And I've no idea what these orange tabs are for - help remove the PSU perhaps? ... show more

  • 4.5 / 5 - Great Value and Performance 4.5 / 5 - Great Value and Performance
Model: AG02
This external GPU dock functioned as expected, providing straightforward plug-and-play operation and the capacity to considerably enhance the performance of mini PCs or older laptops. It was primarily used for demanding tasks such as rendering and video editing. The build quality appears robust, and the flexibility of a potentially replaceable server PSU is a positive aspect. However, there are two concerns: 1. The GPU feels somewhat unstable, connected only by its small PCB connector, which makes it vulnerable to accidental bumps. A stand or back support would be advantageous for enhanced stability. 2. The power button does not fully shut down the device, and the power supply stays on, leading to constant power consumption. ... show more

  • Nice EGPU dock with builtin power supply
Model: AG02
It worked fine as I expected, with a 5060Ti an Oculink connection to a mini pc running Windows11. Build quality is ok, better than I expected. The fan is tiny, not too noisy, but does run constantly even when the graphic card is disconnected from the pc (shut down). The power switch is actually a power indicator, although it is physically a switch, but it won’t turn off the power. ... show more

  • AWESOME eGPU AWESOME eGPU
Model: AG02
I have a few minipcs but not all of them have fancy oculink (64gb bandwidth) connections. This dock supports usb4 as well (make sure you also get a usb4 compliant cable - usbc are NOT created equal) the usb4 isn't as fast as the oculink but i'm only seeing between 15-20% which is a hit but still faster than most iGPU's. The case is solid (I don't mind that it's not enclosed) There is a button to power on the GPU but I do wish that the psu powered off and didn't stay on all the time. The switch basically turns off the pcie port but the power remains powered. ... show more

Works pretty well, but I was disappointed of the high pitch sound from the power supply.

  • Near perfect EGPU Dock. Near perfect EGPU Dock.
Model: AG02
I have been using the AG02 EGPU Dock for just about a week now, and I am quite impressed. I have paired this with a Geforce RTX 3080 FE card, and connected it to my Aoostar MACO 6850h and also my Aoostar WTR Max NAS, using both Oculink and USB4. Oculink was definitely faster, beating USB4 in my tests by about 15-20%. I have some screenshots of 3DMark Time Spy as well as Forza Horizon 6. The AG02 is powered by an 800W Platinum 1U power supply. I've read other reviews that state that the fan on the PSU is loud, and in my case, while it certain is somewhat audible, it is not annoying. The fans on my 3080 generated more noise when they spun up. Hardly anything to complain about, and with audion in the background from a game or something like that, it was unnoticeable for me. There's a power button on the unit, and as others have stated, it appears to do nothing. So. i did get a PSU extention cable with an on/off switch on it, so I don't have to unplug it to turn off the unit. Once the device is connected to the computer, and power supplied to the dock, when the mini PC turns on, it kicks on the EGPU. I encountered no issues setting it up and getting it recognized in Windows. Performance with my MACO 6850h showed me that the slower pcie 4.0 x4 speed of Oculink procduced about a 10% drop from desktop systems, so not awful but there is a performance hit. USB4 takes a further hit as it's about 15% slower in tests than the Oculink, but there is added convenience. In 3D mark the graphics score was 10% slower over Oculink than on a Desktop PC. The 2nd 3DMark screenshot shows Oculink compared to USB4, with USB4 being another 5% slower. Real world outside of benchmarks is more variable. The Forza screenshots look washed out as they were converted from HDR to SDR, but on the High preset, I'm getting between 70-90fps at 4K resolution. Overall, I like the AG02 very much, and think it's a very solid choice if you're looking for an Oculink/USB Dock, and don't need Thunderbolt 5. The only downside for me is the power button that does nothing. ... show more

  • Worked for a short while before power supply gave issues
Model: AG02
Worked for about an hour and then started having issues eventually found it was a failing or faulty power supply in the unit causing real bad stutters from voltage drop.
