I have 3a curly hair that is very dry from the many products I put in it so I always try and find shampoos that will add more moisture and hydration to my hair and won't dry it out any further. I have always had luck with AG hair products and this shampoo was a good addition to my hair routine. I felt that after using this along with the corresponding conditioner, that my hair felt softer and that my curls looked great. The scent isn't my favorite, but it's not too in your face. It didn't leave my hair feeling dry or brittle after a few uses and my hair is easy to brush and style. For the price, the shampoo wasn't quite as concentrated as i had hoped it would be; in my picture, I'm having to cup my hand to prevent it from flowing over the edge, whereas at this price point, i would have expected to not have had to cup my hand. My daughter, who uses very little product in her hair, liked this shampoo. I use a lot of product in my hair, and i don't think it was getting everything out, because my hair was more flat after using this. After reading some of the other comments, it seems like our experience was consistent with some of the other reviewers' experiences. If you don't use very much product in your hair, this might be a good for you. But a bottle of this size for over $30? I would not recommend this at all, for that price. If your scalp is super sensitive and this works better for you, it might be worth it, but for most people, i can't imagine justification. ... show more

This shampoo is clear and reminds me of Aloe Vera Juice in consistency. It is not soapy and it has a light lather without the excessive foaming effect. I have 4c hair and sometimes it seems impossible to get all the shampoo out of my hair as it tingles my hair. I did not have this issue with this product. It is super easy to remove this shampoo from your hair since it’s not soapy. I would definitely recommend it on 4-type hair especially if shampoo seems drying because this one was not. This has a tea tree/aloe scent but it doesn’t have any tingling effect on your scalp like peppermint does. This did not really “define” my curls, especially once I air-dried my hair (it did look more defined soaking wet with AG hair’s conditioner also applied but that was temporary). This is overall a good shampoo for regular/frequent use on coarse/coily hair. I would feel comfortable using this with or without AG Care’s conditioner as it’s good on its own too. ... show more

I'm curious about the moisturizing focus because for me, with high porosity, fine, voluminous, 2A-3A curls it really isn't moisturizing at all, but it does give me some of my best curls. The first time I used this I was actually surprised that my hair felt a little dry directly after shampooing, but then I did my style routine and not only were my curls more bouncy they lasted longer too! I would definitely suggest following this up with a good moisturizing conditioner, and if your hair is very dry I might even suggest steering clear, but I love this and will definitely buy it again. I want to get the conditioner too, just have too many other shampoos/conditioners right now. ... show more

This felt good going on, producing a silky lather and my hair felt fresh and clean, not stripped after washing. I used oil on my hair before and after with good results. It smells wonderful and will be a pleasure to use.

This is a great sulfate free shampoo. It is great for my sensitive scalp and safe to use on color treated hair. I feel like it gave life back to my wavy/curly hair without drying it out.
