I’ve had these for several months now and I love them. I swim with them regularly and they work just as advertised. I wish the earplugs came in different sizes, as I have tiny ear canals. But, that’s my problem, not the manufacturers. They do work better with earplugs in. They stay in place well while swimming. The battery lasts several hours, and I’ve rarely had it quit while swimming. One drawback is I’m not able to wear a swim cap while wearing these. Other people seem to be able to. It was easy to download mp3s to this headset. Lots of storage space. I could load more songs, but find that I have plenty so I’m not repeating songs until I’ve done several hour long swims. They also work great on an airplane. Extra bonus is that they work better with ear plugs so you don’t have to hear the sounds of those around you if you didn’t want to. Knowing how well they work, I have no problem recommending these for swimming or for everyday.

This is the best thing out there for listening to audio while swimming and is vastly better than anything that I have tried before. I've had them for nearly 3 months and they've been solid. The quality is excellent and the clarity of the sound is unbelievable in the water. I swim in an Endless Pool (EP) 4 to 5 times per week for 40 min or more. The EP is noisier and more turbulent than a lap pool. This puts more demand on the headphones. I use the earplugs that came with the headphones and I got a Firesara Fabric Swim Cap to reduce noisy water flow over my ears. So, I put the headphones on first, followed by earplugs, swim cap, and goggles in that order. The cap is meant to be comfortable while improving my ability to hear the audio; it is not to improve swimming performance. My silicon and latex caps were awful for this. I listen to podcasts almost exclusively because they are the easiest for me to load. I find them in Apple Podcasts and export them to mp3 or m4a. Then, I run ffmpeg on them to double the volume and increase the playback speed to 1.4x. It also converts all of them to mp3 because some wouldn't play on the headphones otherwise. I automated this using a macOS Folder Action. If I couldn't easily double the volume of podcasts then I wouldn't be able to hear them well enough on full volume to follow the dialog! Aftershokz take note: filtering an audio file like this is out of the reach of most of your consumers. Without it, I would have returned these headphones! Speeding up playback is just icing on the cake but I'm really glad that I don't have to listen to podcasts at 1x speed. If the podcast is music, though, I don't increase speed but I still increase the volume. For these to be commercially successful, they need to be able to boost the volume of audio files and increase the playback speed right in the device. I also think that they need a way to synchronize with streaming services like Spotify. Most people are not going to do what I do. I have tried all kinds of headphones made for swimming over the last two decades. Bone conduction is the only way to go. If the headphones are piping sound directly into my ear canal then it is only a matter of minutes before water gets in and makes it so that I cannot hear anything. I nearly gave up on listening to anything in the water. I only tried these because I've also had a great experience with Aeroplex which were gifted to me. I'm glad that I did.

These headphones are absolutely amazing! If you are looking to have some sound while you’re working out these headphones are definitely worth it. They sound much better underwater than they do about the water which is incredible! The battery does not last very long on these unfortunately. They last about an hour and 20 minutes. Or at least that’s as long as I’ve been able to get them to run. They do give you a warning that the battery is low and it warns you several times before they die. But you will have no problem with the sound underwater that’s for sure. Songs are really easy to add. It works just like a flash drive. All you do is just click and drag the songs from your iTunes directly. The playlist goes in the order of which you drag and place the songs. My music is my fuel while I am working out and I am ecstatic that I am able to listen to my music in the pool while I’m swimming! I have not tried these in the ocean and I would probably recommend not to be in that salt water eats away absolutely everything but fresh water swim you can’t beat this. Honestly I feel like the person who invented these bone conduction headphones receive a Nobel prize! They’re definitely worth the money. And I hardly don’t ever review things but I am giving this a 8/10. The only reason why it gets an eight is because of the battery. If they could make the battery last longer then it would be a slam dunk. You won’t regret buying these that’s for sure.

This is a wonderful item. I purchased one each for my older sisters, then one for my daughter when she started swim training for Iron Man. Only then did I learn I could have bought a Bluetooth version that she might have preferred. Nevertheless, I LOVE mine, and my sisters are enthralled, saying it has transformed their swim workouts to something more enjoyable..

I was so excited to use these AfterShokz Xtrainerz when i am swimming with these. When i mean swimming, i mean i am able to swim IMs, do flip turns, and even dive off the starting blocks. If you do want to swim at speed, you will need to wear a cap. I have a crewcut and once i started swimming more than just casually, they would start to slide of one ear. Wearing a cap is the best solution. I have been using these for just over a month, 3 or 4 times a week. I've only needed to charge after the third week. You cannot use Bluetooth with these thus you cannot steam any content from your phone. I have other AfterShokz headphones and understood the differences when i bought the AfterShokz Xtrainerz. If you still have an old drive with MP3s, just connect the headphones to a USB port and copy the MP3s over to the headphones then head to the pool. These are a great choice. Don't hesitate to pick up some, as long as you understand they only play MP3s.

The sound quality and useability while swimming is awesome. They sit securely but you don't even know there are there. The sound above wave ("General" setting) is good. The sound below water ("Swim" setting) is unbelieveable. These are vastly better than every other swim option I've tried. No wires to get tangled too. Simple, straight forward. Easy to load (although not bluetooth which is understandable given bluetooth and water don't mix). My only gripes are: (a) there's no way to fast forward through songs/tracks (you can skip to next but not forward within a track) and (b) the songs/tracks seem to play in random order (despite normal vs shuffle setting) and there's no way to tell what track you are on. This isn't a problem for music but makes listening to multi-part podcasts very difficult. Both are software tweaks. If those were fixed, these would be perfect.

EDIT: I'm lowering my score because for no reason the right side of the unit no longer plays audio, and this thing has had an easy life. Also the proprietary charging connector takes about 3 or 4 tries before it starts charging. Original: I wanted a music playback device that did not involve a long cord connecting to a device. Unfortunately the devices I found all had that new, and wildly uncomfortable, ear buds that stick into the ear canal. I tried one and couldn't adjust to the discomfort. I then thought of these new bone conducting units: I figured the comfort would be decent and after shingles left me with hearing loss in an ear I was curious if the tech's bypass of the eardrum would result in greater clarity. This is what I've found: - The command to play the current folder and the command to play the next folder do not work. The other commands seem to work fine. - Comfort is fine. It's as comfortable as the old style earbuds. - Audio quality is great, but it doesn't get extremely loud. I cannot tell if it helps with the hearing loss in my impacted ear though. - Battery life is OK but a bit on the short side - This is my first officially water resistant MP3 player. As someone who sweats heavily this is something I've needed. - It's easy to learn how the buttons work since there's obviously no room for a display panel. I had to read the manual to figure out how to reach a different folder, so it would be nice if the manual wasn't so tiny. - The randomize playback feature does not seem to randomize well. Some tracks never get played while others are played with regularity, but that's the problem with random. You never really know. - A proprietary USB connection is used. At some point it will be lost or in a different location when I want to recharge. - Color is black. If it was red, blue, yellow, or whatever I think it would be easier to locate. - At some point I think Bluetooth and MP3 storage in one device would be ideal. EDIT: I recently learned that the device does not treat its file system alphabetically but instead sorts based upon the date a file was created or modified. This is truly a lazy way of sorting tracks and is inexcusable in 2021. If this was 1985 I wouldn't expect this behavior.

I CANNOT live without my AfterShokz. It's not a joke. I'm a swimmer and my life is divided between before AfterShokz and after AfterShokz. I can't imagine myself swimming without it anymore. So, when I had a problem with my headphone last year (there was no sound on one of the sides), I immediately contact customer support. They told me to send it and they will replace it with a new one. Before I send my headphone, I bought another AfterShokz because, as I said, I can't live even one single day without my headphone. When I got the new AfterShokz, I could send the old one. Now, I have two headphones and I'm a super happy swimmer. The end.
