Took me maybe 40 minutes to assemble, I was taking my time though and distracted by cats, so it probably won't take others quite as long. The carpet feels soft, and my cats love the rope scratcher. All 3 cats use it at once and the cat tree is still holding strong, even though the tree itself is lightweight and easy to pick up. ... show more

Read these instructions along with the pictures in the included instructions: 1) the 4 padded posts tie together the particle board piece A with the padded piece B. Use the long screws. Tighten them down. The picture of the dog house thing is actually the cover that goes over what you just made. It creates the little shelter. Way easier with 2 people but doable alone. Do not be tempted to cut the string along the the bottom. 2) the A3 brackets fit into the recesses of board D. Use the short screws. Tighten down. 3) The item "I" is the bed (cover) for the top. Pay attention to the 2 holes in the corner (next the the letter D in the picture). The cover goes in the OTHER side. Don't cover those 2 holes. 4) use the short screws to mount the bent brackets to the piece you were just working on. Use the short holes in the brackets. 5) mount the scratching pad to the 2 bent brackets. Use the short screws. Attach to the side that has padding on it. Tighten down. 6) follow the picture. Use the long screw. Don't screw the top cover material with the screw. That way you can kind of cover the screw head a little with the cover after it is tight and it will be easier if you ever want to pull it off to wash it. 7) screw the scratching post to the last piece of padded wood. Use a long screw. 8) screw the top of the scratching post to the underside of the roof of the shelter. Be sure to have the hole in the bottom of the base piece towards the front of the shelter. 9) screw in the cat toy into the base as shown. The white pad that comes with the kitty condo can go on top. It's a nice little shelter. It is plenty big enough for even large cats. Our cat loves it! ... show more
