This versatile swim vest has 3 zippered pockets that contain the buoyancy elements, allowing them to be removed for thorough cleaning and drying. This helps control bacterial growth, which can cause odors in other buoyant vests which have their buoyancy pockets sewn shut at the factory, so the user can never thoroughly clean and dry them. I ordered several different swim vests with prices under $30, and this model is the only one that has zippered buoyancy pockets and removable buoyancy elements. This model is also the only swim vest under $30 with a front fitting zipper, which supplements the two adjustable straps to help the vest fit snugly, despite its roominess. The extra-large size (XL) fits my 38 inch waist and 44 inch chest dimensions well with these adjustments. Other models marked "XL" were either too loose for me, which caused the vest to slip up and cover my face while swimming, or too tight for me, which caused painful pressure on my throat when swimming. This vest is also the only model under $30 that has left & right leg straps, a crucial safety feature that prevents the whole vest from sliding up and off when in use. Leg straps are especially important if the victim is unconscious, or has to wait a long time for rescue, putting him at risk of becoming separated from his swim vest. Lastly, the description does not describe all of the above features in detail, so I consider it important to be aware of them before selecting a swim buoyancy vest that lacks any of the following benefits I have described above: 1) Zippered pockets to remove, clean and dry the buoyancy elements (and replace them if needed!) 2) Leg straps to help keep the swim vest securely on the victim until rescue takes place 3) A front zipper to supplement the adjustable straps, for better fit. ... show more
