The purpose of this item is to secure and support your trolling motor on the deck of your boat during trailer hulling or long trips on the water. It adds better protection from your trolling motor and shaft bouncing around everywhere when in the docked position and standing the chance of bending, weakening, and or breaking something while in transit. In my opinion this is a great invention to keep your expensive motors in great condition for years to come. This item has the same theory as outboard motor hydraulic and steering supports that you place on the shafts to keep the motor and assemblies from moving and or bouncing around during transit to better explain its purpose. Installation and removal is very easy. Install does NOT require drilling any holes in my boat, motor, or any type of permanent attachment to my trolling motor shaft. This item has rubber insulators at the attachment points so it will not scratch. I got the glow in the dark model and it glows as bright as you need it to be clearly visible. This product fit my Minn Kota, Powerdrive trolling motor shaft. You simply attach this item to your trolling motor shaft with a swing over hood. Then adjust the screw knob to the diameter of the trolling motor shaft to keep it secure from moving around. There is push a button you then push to adjust the height from your trolling motor shaft resting position to the deck of your boat. There is an internal spring that does all the hard work of, absorbing shock, and keeping everything safe if you hip bumps, potholes or whatever while trailering. It also does the same to absorb the shock while on the water hitting waves, wakes or carving the water. This item stays attached to your trolling motor when in the upright / use position. This item can be tilted in different angles while you are using the trolling motor to tuck it away if you want. Great product, I really like it.

Adjustable Trolling Motor Stabilizer, Glow in the Dark, Universal Fitment for Minn Kota, Rhodan, Motor Guide, No Drilling, Shock Absorber, Boat Accessories, Trolling Motor Support This is just what I needed for my Minn Kota trolling motor. I hate having the end bouncing up and down when I’m hauling the boat, so I always have to take the motor off and set it in the boat. Then when I get where I’m going, I have to reattach the motor. It usually only takes a couple minutes, but it’s a headache I could do without. This fits perfectly on the shaft of the trolling motor and sits on the gunnel. The only negative I have about this is that I thought it had a heavy spring in it to absorb the shock if the motor does bounce a little. It is solid, but if I push the shaft up a little when I lock this in place, it pretty much eliminates any movement of the shaft. I think it’s a little expensive for what it is, but if it saves wear and tear on my motor, it’s worth it.

I have always wondered how the trolling motors can possibly hold up to all that bouncing. Well, now they don't have to. Fit well on my Motor Guide and installed with ease. Holds the trolling motor stable while heading out to fish. No drilling or permanent mounting required. Perfect design! Love it!

The concept was great but the small locking latch (black colored) that connects the top of the support by a pivoting motion, to the trolling motor, is a major weak point. First deployment by hand and the support was off and in the water gone. BUMMER!

The only problem with this product is more about my specific boat and trolling motor. I want any reader to know that this is a well made product and will work very well for most boaters. I'll continue by saying that this is a thick and sturdy product that is very lightweight. I had worried that it might be too heavy/bulky and cause issues with the auto-deploy function of my MinnKota Ulterra with 60" shaft. There are no issues with the added weight. It swivels on the shaft when deploying and stowing with no issues. It was very easy to install and it was easy to determine the the correct placement and it adjusted easily. My specific problems with the product: My boat (Lund 208 Tyee GL) has a 'beveled' front gunwales with a rope rail. This causes problems with the stabilizer seating well or getting hung up on the rope rail when stowing. I kinda need to guide the stabilizer into place when stowing the motor while on the lake with makes the auto-deploy/stow function of my motor not as handy as it is supposed to be. My purpose for getting this stabilizer was primarily for trailering, so with as easy as it is to 'install' the stabilizer on the shaft, I will end up removing it while on the lake and re-installing it for trailering. With the quality and thoughtfulness of this product, I would recommend it for most boaters and will be looking at other Mangrove products; they appear to care about quality.
