First of all. The look and quality of the shoe does look quite good. It does however make your feet look smaller by the way the toe area is structured. If you prefer a boot the is snig and fit. This is the one. If you have wide feet like I do. I guess it will take a while to break it in. Overall, I like these boots. Having Gore-Tex is a plus. If you need to patrol for hours, spint or kick down a solid oak door, these are it. Have used these faithfully in a variety of security scenarios from downtown San Francisco to rural Marin County for several years, and they've never disappointed. I've owned these about a year and a half, they're really supportive, the sole is really stiff and stays stiff for a long time. I would walk 8-15 miles in them a day, I noticed some foot fatigue after long days. They're very water resistant, almost water proof to some degree, they breath okay

I know these style shoes run small at least when new. I wear a 10.5 to 11 and these must be 11. It is the full Gore-Tex boot Terrex Swift R2 Mid GTX that uses non-vented Gore-Tex that is even more on the small side. The difference is in the vents. If the material is not vented it will not give when compared to the other four pairs of these shoes I have. I will be ordering the adidas Men's Climbing Shoes, that have the Gore-Tex label on the vented material. While water resistant for most of my uses I was looking for a shoe that would keep my feet vented without allowing them to get wet. Having been in the Military in jungle wet environments where high water is everywhere. Looking for a 100% waterproof boot/shoe is nearly impossible. The shoes are good with excellent grip. Broke them in for a few days and hiked Half Dome. All was good until the assent. Hurt so bad and when it was done I pulled the insoles. They were crushed to nothing in the heel. Unacceptable and dangerous, switch them out ASAP if you do long hikes. They run small as proved by my new insoles sizing cuts. I want to find who approved those insoles, make them wear pair and take them for a hike. ... show more
