Now, the legend continues with the A7X: All drivers, all amplifiers, as well as the cabinet have been revised, resulting in a speaker that claims nothing less but to be a new benchmark in near-field monitoring.Driver technology The first aspect that distinguishes the old from the new model is the X-ART tweeter. The X stands for eXtended frequency response and thus for one of the features of the Accelerating Ribbon Technology that has been drastically improved: the frequency response. It now extends all the way up to 50kHz. In addition, the X-ART tweeter has a higher efficiency and higher maximum sound pressure levels.The perfect integration with the lower frequencies has been achieved with a newly designed 7 midwoofer. It has been redesigned with a much bigger voice coil (1.5) and is driven by an amplifier with twice the power compared to its predecessor. This combination produces an amazing sound and pressure levels with an almost distortion-free musical reproduction.Amplifiers / controls Each driver has its own dedicated amplifier. A 50W A/B amp is responsible for the X-ART tweeter, while the midwoofer is being driven by a 100W PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) amp. The front panel includes a power switch and a control for the volume that retains the volume setting independently from the on/off switch.On the rear panel of the A7X are several additional controls: a gain for the high frequencies ( 4dB) and two shelf filters for high and low frequencies. To ensure greater compatibility, there are both XLR (balanced) and RCA (unbalanced) connectors.X-ART Technology The X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeters and midranges incorporate a new approach to the Air Motion Transformer concept originally developed by Dr. Oskar Heil. I've had a number of nearfield studio monitors over the years and you always needed to "learn" the speakers so that they'd translate well with what you heard in your mind and your mix. With the A7X it's just there naturally! It takes a minute to get used to the way they sound which is to say accurate. No more "learning" your speakers.     • Phenomenal Upgrade From My NS-10 Remakes
I used Yamaha HS80M monitors for many years, Yamaha's classic NS10 remakes. (The current remake is the HS8). But I wanted monitors with no audible noise floor or "hiss." This does the trick and more. Their idle volume is very very quiet. I haven't measured, but its at least 15db lower than the Yamahas, for less than twice the price. In fact, in a sound isolation booth, they are quieter than any sound that bleeds through from the outside.     • Why Didn't I Do This Years Ago
I had been waffling with the idea of getting a pair of really nice nearfield monitors for a very long time, probably nearly 10 years. I remember the first time I heard a pair of Mackie HR824s I was hooked. I've been longing to get a pair forever. When I finally thought about doing it a few years ago, I searched for reviews and comparisons and found these commonly compared to the Mackies, frequently favorably. I'm not going to lie, I never went and did a direct shootout to hear the difference with the Mackies. After a lot of reading I finally came to the conclusion that these were better for me. I have a quite small (10x15) room where these sit and they're only 3-4' from me. In small room tests, every review I read came out in favor of these. In a music store the Mackies may have sounded better, but most people liked these for smaller rooms. So I took them at their word and clicked order. I'm coming from a pair of Yamaha MSP5s. The MSP5s were pretty adequate. I did some mixing and audio production on them, but they're also my main displays for everything from gaming to listening to music while working on non-musical tasks. I had real problems with mixes done on the MSP5s sounding wrong on other speakers.Sometimes tinny, sometimes bass heavy, always flat. Shooting the A7X next to those is like getting out of a Ferrari and into a Volkswagon. It's just an entirely different caliber experience. How? Both are capable of putting out really amble bass in the room where I listen. The biggest difference is in bass resolution. Below 120Hz or so the Yamahas get muddy. They make the sound, they get some energy into it, but they just drone. You may not notice it until you get something capable of actually resolving in those frequencies. The A7X are much cleaner. Even in low frequencies they have a crisp and clear sound response. There's something I can't really quantify about the new speakers too. Imaging is incredible. The sound field I find myself in is really wide, and incredibly immersive. I don't feel like I'm listening to speakers, they really vanish behind their own power. It's really amazing. The other thing is fatigue. This one I don't understand that well either, but I've definitely noticed that I get fatigued listening carefully for long periods of time on any lower quality display, whereas on great displays that fatigue takes much longer to set in. I've get to get truly fatigued on these displays, which probably means I simply haven't had a long enough session with them, but for 8 straight hours I can listen with no problems. Are these the best speakers in their price category? Who knows. I didn't take the time to shoot them against Mackies and Genelec or any of the other major nearfield names. However after waiting to get really good nearfields for 10 years and working on middle-range nearfields, the difference is night and day. The sound is cleaner. Simply cleaner. So very clean. You will read reviews where people say they heard things in music they've never heard before. It's true. I hear things in music I wrote that I never heard in the recording on my old monitors. The A7X is incredible.Shoot it against your favorite brand if you want to tweak every parameter, but for clarity in small rooms these things absolutely do everything I could ask and more. ... show more

I truly believe that owning these type of speakers should be a Human Right :) everybody deserve to listen to music with speakers like these. They are super flat with really good bass response and the high end is just amazing! I use mines with ISO Acoustics and the combo is really powerful, a little bit pricey but hey... ... show more

    • Great for mixing
I bought these after using them in a friend's studio. I have a lot of experience mixing on Dynaudio BM5a's. I like the BM5 a lot. The ADAM seem to be more accurate and from what I can tell so far, my mixes translate better outside the studio. They're more expensive than the Dynaudio but the difference is audible. I'm definitely happy with this purchase. ... show more

    • unbelievable speakers
so I tried to go the cheaper route and bought a pair of the PreSonus Eris E8. Let me tell you they were horrible. Instead I bought these and don't regret paying $1500 for a pair. The quality and tone is unreal, they sound incredible. I record/mix my own metal tracks and I am very happy with them.

    • Superior detailed listening across all frequency ranges...
The best near field monitors I have ever personally experienced, and it's really no contest. Whatever the sound engineer allows you to hear in ANY recording is what you get. The neutral and transparent clarity shows off every nuance of the original tracking and mix. Their (Adam Audio) Sub10 Mk2 is next. You will never regret the $$$. And in the world of high end monitors they are, in reality, far from pricey. They have taken my music appreciation to a couplea next levels. ... show more
