We had this shower that leaked but the pipes are on the wall. This panel allows us to have access from my daughter’s bedroom. It isn’t the prettiest, so likely we will cover it with a picture. I am thinking of painting it to match the wall. Has anyone tried it? But this is sturdy. We had to provide our own screws to screw it into the wood on either side of the opening. We had to carefully cut the opening to make sure it would fit properly. It too my son less than 10 minutes to complete the process with about 20 minutes of careful marking and measuring. Remember, measure twice.. it went in beautifully. ... show more

These are by far the best access doors I have run across. They fit perfectly (well, almost perfectly) between two 16"-on-center studs and provide the perfect size access door for electrical work. I am putting one of these above and below the main panel so I can easily run new wire when a new circuit is needed. What I really like about these doors is the high quality. I have seen a number of access doors made of plastic and they tend to look like crap. This is a very high quality metal/steal door and the movement on it is perfect if mounted correctly. Plastic doors look like crap -this one looks awesome. I also have to commend the very fast shipping on this item - it was not available Amazon Prime so I was skeptical it would arrive before the drywall work started and figured I would just have to go back and cut the whole later. but to my surprise the shipping was as fast as Prime and i was able to get these marked so the drywall could be cut at install time for easy mounting. Really love these - I will post some pics after the walls are painted and the access doors go back in for final mounting. ... show more

The access door was shipped in a large box without stuffing. Itself is a very sturdy build but it also has a lot of weight, which could do some damages during shipping. Mine received with a bent corner that can't be completely fixed by bending back. I'm sending it back. This one is relatively cheaper than other ones on Amazon. However, even without the corner damage, the product gives a defective look. It might be OK to be installed in utility rooms or garage. It's an eye-sore for places that requires better finish. The flange looks like four stripes awkwardly combined. Definitely not for my finished attic space that I intend to install. There are other models with the flange looks like a whole piece, it's worth the extra cost to get these in my opinion. ... show more

Works great. I like that it is made from steel versus plastic. The door that opens is 14x14, the opening in the wall needs to be about 14 3/8 by 14 3/8. The flange around the outside is about 1 inch for a total dimension of 16x16. The door latch requires a flat screwdriver to operate and is really stiff to turn. As someone else said, there is no spring on the door, so once the latch is turned, you need to use your flat screwdriver to pop the door open. I wish the latch operated more easily, but I don't really care since I don't think I will need to get behind the door more than once every few years. ... show more
