I love the graphics on this computer, which are an upgrade for me after my 10 year old Acer Aspire died. That one had touchscreen, which I miss, but this newer Swift is a great laptop. It is lightweight. I love that as sometimes I travel with my computer and lighter is better! The only thing I haven't liked is that even when the sound is at 100, it isn't very loud. This computer seems nice enough out of the box. Easy to set up, runs Windows, etc. I'm sitting there playing a game six days later, and all the sudden a puff of smoke comes out the back. Now I'm sitting here staring at Acer's chat support app. If an agent ever joins the chat, I'll update this review. As of now, it looks like I paid $1,100 for a brick. UPDATE: It took almost six weeks, but I got the laptop factory-repaired for free, and I have it back. It's a nice laptop for what it costs. By way of illustrating that point, the first thing the Acer support people said to me was "this'll be easier if you just send it back to Amazon. They'll give you a replacement immediately, and we'll repair the unit on the back end." Only problem was, a week after I bought it, the laptop was completely backordered. From where I sit, this product seems like the kind of thing where you can get a deal for being willing to put in a little elbow grease. The Acer factory maybe needs better QC, but their Tier-2 tech support handled the problem about as well as could have been expected. If it breaks again I'll update. ... show more

I was looking for a light yet powerful laptop to use it for work on my side projects and study. I did my research and I think this is one of the best value laptops of 2022 that is not a gaming laptop. Pros: -Intel 12 Gen 12 cores and 16 threads that's more than enough power. -DDR5 RAM memory, faster than order models with DDR -GTX3050, it's not the super graphics card for gaming, but better than the Intel integrated graphics that other laptops at this price range have. -Intel Thunderbolt 4, high speed and multiple screens can be connected using USB ports, can also be used to connect external graphics card. -decent web cam 1080p -good screen resolution and it looks pretty good imo -cool design, aluminum chasis and a nice green color -works with Linux out of the box, I wanted a laptop to use with Linux for software development, I installed Manjaro and everything works perfect (haven't tried fingerprint since that's not important to me but that might need extra drivers) Cons: -sound it's decent but not impressive -battery life is fair, watching YouTube at 75% screen brightness lasts around 4hrs -RAM is fixed to the motherboard so it can't be upgraded, although 16gb RAM should be more than enough. ... show more

Had this for 10 months now and very pleased. I spent months looking for the best bang for my buck and I was not dissapointed. I wanted something I could game occasionally, do some CAD work, but still carry it around like an Ultra Book. IF you accept that anything with a debilitated video card is going to be limited in battery then this is the right unit. When doing anything that requires the video card to fire up it can get a little noisy with the fan and a bit warm. Also, battery life when using the video card is really poor. I bought a more compact charger which made carrying it around much easier. Just surfing the internet the battery life is decent. Still in compact size that I can use it on a plane or coffee shop. I'd prefer a touch screen but that feature alone would have added $500 to a comparable unit. Highly recommend for my goals and the price point. ... show more

My experience after one week of ownership (will update if anything major happens): Cons: HORRIBLE out-of-box experience (details below). Gets very hot when using both CPU and GPU (ie Gaming, video editing, etc), but that's kind of expected. Need to register product on Acer's website to access drivers and user manual - this information should be open to the public in my opinion. Plenty of bloatware to remove (like Norton anti-virus), but that's more of a Microsoft problem. Pros: Very similar to high-end ultrabooks at a lower cost. Nice color on the display (especially if you tweak Intel graphics settings a bit). 100% resolution scale with this display allows for tons of real estate on this 16:10 screen. Able to install a second M.2 drive. Keyboard and touchpad feel great. Fingerprint scanner works great. Good camera. Speakers are good, but are bottom-facing so sound will be muted if the laptop is on your lap. Purchased on-sale for a little over $700 (I still think it's worth the normal price tag). Out of box experience: When setting up Windows 11 at first boot, the CPU fans were going nuts and the machine was generating an unacceptable amount of heat. Once logging into the OS, I noticed the dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU) was not showing up in Task Manager or Device Manager. Windows Update was trying to install the graphics driver, but it kept failing. Could not install GPU drivers from Nvidia's website because the card was not even detected in the computer. All of this PLUS slow performance due to excessive heat. My solution for this: Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC. I did NOT "keep my files" and I chose Local install instead of Cloud. I'm not sure if those settings matter in this case. I just wanted a complete fresh image. After that, the overheating issue seemed improved but the GPU was still not fully installed. However, I was able to use drivers from Nvidia's website to complete the GPU installation. Once all drivers successfully install, the computer ran fine. ... show more
