  • Don't bother with the Core Ultra; this unit is great
CPU: i7-1355U Capacity: 14" FHD touch
It's still very early days so I can't comment on durability yet. But I will provide some opinions and commentary. This Acer Swift Go 14 replaced a new Asus Zenbook 14 with OLED screen and Core Ultra 155h. The Asus arrived with a defective touchpad so it went back to BestBuy. So enough history. I had been lusting after this Acer unit for quite a number of months so, when the Asus went south and Amazon dropped the price on the Acer, I ordered it. It arrived in two days (as promised). Came with a zippered case (which I haven't even opened yet). Forgot that it had a touchscreen; I'll never use it as the screen doesn't fold back into tablet mode so it's essentially worthless to me; they could have left it out and sold it for less. I guess everybody wants an iPad wannabe, eh? The screen itself, however, is sharp and clear and very bright. I tend to keep it at 50% brightness as I computer indoors. The 1920x1200 resolution is perfect. I keep it at 125% magnification and can read the small lettering just fine with my glasses. The keyboard has plenty of key travel (unlike MacBooks) and the touchpad, which I don't think is a Synaptics, operates well. It's not oversized (as Macs tend to be) but feels right to me. Tapping, two-finger scrolling, three- and four-finger swipes are supported (as is a traditional "click" if you press). Performance: Very speedy; feels as fast if not faster than the Asus Zenbook I returned. If I could install Windows 10, I might do that only because Win11 gets in my way with its incessant nagging and suggesting and whining. Maybe when I figure out how to turn off all the annoyances, I'll be happier with Win11. General Design: One of the things I've liked about Acer non-gaming laptops/notebooks is their "vanilla" design ethos. Keep it simple and clean. The case of this Swift is a lovely somewhat squared-off "chiseled" look in the same sense as an Ioniq 5. I think the manufacturing execution is not quite Apple quality--the case port edges are a little sharper than Apple would permit--but everything plugs in the way it should. The keyboard is recessed below the palm rest a bit so your greasy fingers won't end up leaving marks on the screen when you close the lid. Speaking of the keyboard, it's nice and large with well-spaced keys and adequate backlighting. Battery life: Ran it for about 6+ hours with lots of web use. I think I had about 50% left. No complaints. As I think about it, the Acer reminds me most of my 13" 2012 MacBook Pro although it's a larger screen, higher resolution, incredibly faster, and about 1.25 lbs lighter. :D That Mac was, IMHO, the pinnacle of Mac laptop design. I think Acer has done a great job with this unit. I'll report back in a few months regarding any QC issues that, hopefully, won't pop up. ... show more

  • I really love this for work. But I had a problem
CPU: i7-1355U Capacity: 14" FHD touch
I love this laptop. If you are looking for a laptop for normal office type work, this is perfect. I pair it with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. It's great for zoom meetings and all my work needs. My problems started after 2 months; the mouse pad started having problems and lost left and right click. Then the keyboard started feeling mushy when I used it. Wasn't a huge problem because I used a mouse and keyboard, but it bugged me when I would open it at home to work. I decided to take it apart and investigate, which meant having to buy a screwdriver set that would fit the odd screws under the laptop. When I got the right tools, I didn't even have to take it apart, the problem became obvious. All the screws were rather loose. after tightening all screws, laptop works perfectly. I love this laptop. If are having the same problems, try to tighten the screws. ... show more

  • The Most Versatile and Portable Windows Laptop
CPU: i7-1355U Capacity: 14" FHD touch
This is the closest I've seen a Windows laptop get to being a MacBook replica. The portability, performance, weight, and overall ease of use make this laptop an all-around option depending on what you are looking for. The laptop includes a wall adapter with a fixed USB-C cable for charging in addition to support documents and limited warranty information. When first setting up the laptop, I did have to plug it into power as the battery was out of charge on arrival, but within a few minutes I was able to power it on and begin the setup process. The setup is the same routine questions and answers on most laptops, but this one does have some extra bloatware preinstalled- namely the Acer apps and McAfee Antivirus. The setup also gives you the option to set up your fingerprint if you would like additional security, which is baked into the power button. The process here is simple and it is the same process as adding your fingerprint on a phone, however, the power button can be pressed easily when doing this, so do it gently. Once the setup is complete, you'll be in Windows and ready to start using the laptop. The default wallpaper is an Acer one, and you will have some pop ups from McAfee asking you to set up or extend your subscription. I recommend uninstalling these apps and any others you may not use in addition to also disabling OneDrive as it will free up some of the resources from being used up by the unwanted programs. The laptop also has a few USB ports for connecting your devices in addition to the headphone jack, HDMI port, and a MicroSD card reader. For expanded use, I recommend using a docking station to get even more versatility out of this laptop. The laptop itself runs without issue, and the built-in display is bright enough for my normal everyday usage although it can appear dim when using it outdoors or in brightly lit areas. The screen is also very colorful and doesn't have any issues with the picture washing out or distorting when looking at it from an angle, and the integrated touch screen works flawlessly whether I use my fingertips or a capacitive stylus. My only complaint about the display is that it is limited to 60hz, which can make scrolling or moving things across the screen feel choppy and sluggish at times but that's coming from someone who uses 144hz+ displays most of the time. Most people will be more than okay with that frame rate. Additionally, the speakers on this laptop are surprisingly good. The speakers are rich and full sounding without the hollow, harsh sharp sounds that you typically get when listening to voices or watching online content. They still don't have the same level of depth and detail as a pair of headphones or dedicated speakers, but they will be more than enough for the average person. As far as the performance of the laptop goes, it works really well. The performance cores of this i7 chip don't always like to engage which is fairly noticeable when watching streamed content such as videos or scrolling through e-books or news articles, but once you open a more demanding application, such as a game or editing software, the CPU will boost higher and the laptop will feel more smooth. The internal SSD also helps this laptop to boot up extremely quickly, as I find myself on the Windows login screen within 15-20 seconds every time I power it on from its shutoff state, and if it's asleep from just having the lid closed, it will wake up immediately when lifting the lid. The laptop on its own can handle almost everything you throw at it. It can run almost any online game without issue and it can also stream most online content without any lag or hitching with the exception of the occasional jitter if you try to load videos in 4K resolution. The internal graphics on the CPU can also run a large amount of older games at lower resolutions and detail settings, which also help give this laptop a lot of capabilities despite its small and narrow design. When running non-intensive tasks, the laptop is virtually whisper silent, and even under load it does not get as loud as I was expecting. However, my favorite part of this laptop is the Thunderbolt USB-C ports. These USB-C ports are special compared to other USB-C ports as the Thunderbolt technology allows you to not only use either of these ports to charge the laptop, but if you get a docking station as mentioned, you can charge the laptop, power a mouse and keyboard, output an image on another display, read SD card files, and much more just with that one Thunderbolt port. Not only that, if you are a gamer, you can use these Thunderbolt ports in conjunction with a GPU enclosure, which will allow you to play newer AAA video games on your laptop by just connecting an external GPU to the Thunderbolt port on the laptop. Despite the small design of the laptop, the Intel i7 chip pairs nicely with my older RTX 3070 when connected to a GPU enclosure, and I can play any game from my Steam library if I choose. Don't get too excited though, as this feature does require both a GPU enclosure and a GPU to put inside of it, but I am just telling you how versatile this laptop can get if you had the extra equipment. Lastly, the battery life on this laptop is absolutely stunning in how long it lasts. Whenever you simply close the lid and let the laptop rest in idle, it barely sips power and can last for days in standby without losing much battery life at all. Additionally, the battery charges fast when needed, and since it uses USB-C for power, as long as you have an adapter and cable rated for higher wattages, this makes the laptop easier to find a substitute charger for if you ever misplace the original. In normal use, I can easily get a full day or longer out of this laptop before it needs to be recharged if I am using it continuously, but it can last much longer as mentioned if I only use it for a couple hours here and there. Overall, this is an exceptionally versatile laptop that can be easily taken on the go or left at home on a desk to do all the things you need. Need to finish a college essay while eating brunch at a coffee shop? It'll do that. Want to sit at home, relax and watch your favorite content creators? It will do that too. No matter how you need or want to use it, it will do the job. Whether it's for productivity, gaming, entertainment, etc, it's the first Windows laptop of its class that I can genuinely say I would use on a regular basis. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • The screen is keep flashing after 20 minutes used
CPU: i7-1355U Capacity: 14" FHD touch
I made this comments after I used this lab top 2 months after, make sure my comment is objective enough This lab top overall is ok.....BUT there has a significant shortage. After used about 20 minutes after, screen will keep flashing and I cannot input anything during flashing. I have to wait for about 30 seconds until the screen stopped flashing then can work properly again, or close the lab top and count 5 seconds and open, that works too. Then another 15-20 minutes...... THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!!!!! I tried to see if anything I can do in the setup but had no finding. There has no such problem when watching videos. IF you are looking for a lab top for your work, don't consider this Acer model as that will always interrupt your work ... show more
