Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
First off, I am a real, normal person in the USA trying to order a good working and affordable gaming laptop. On paper, this laptop is amazing. I got the RTX-2080 and WOW the performance is great. HOWEVER, the first one I ordered arrived and functioned perfectly BUT had a scuff on the top corner. The scuff was small BUT when you buy a NEW laptop for $2,300, it needs to be FLAWLESS out of the box. I then had it swapped for a another one. The second one arrived in great condition.. Almost perfect. (keep in mind these are all new and should ALL be in perfect condition). This second unit started crashing randomly turning black screen and forcing me to press the battery reset bottom on the bottom of the laptop. I called Acer and they told me to wipe Windows 10 and reinstall which is what I did. The problem persisted. I had it swapped for A THIRD one. I thought surely I was unlucky and the 3rd one would arrive working perfectly and looking perfect. THE THIRD ONE ARRIVED DAMAGED WORSE THAN BOTH OF THE FIRST 2. I opened this BRAND NEW laptop to find that the area underneath the screen is severely bowed and warped. It was unfixable. Finally, I decided to return this for a refund and try a different laptop. I wanted this to work so badly but it just doesn't make sense to pay $2,000+ for a BRAND NEW laptop and open it to find it has defects. Acer quality control is awful. You might read this thinking "this won't be me". I wanted to believe the same thing that it won't happen to me and this will arrive perfect. Wrong. I ended up ordering a Razer Blade and paying more to get something that looks like I paid $2,000+ for it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS. ... show more

  • Minor Issues but well worth the money for gaming.
Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
Minor issues as said in the title, Some games glitch out and blacks the screen completely .. Only experienced this in CS GO so far but any other game runs fine on max settings. Really annoying when my screen goes black and I have to hard reboot my computer and lose progress or leave a match and abandon my team. Otherwise this is a really solid gaming laptop, One if not the best I've ever owned. It can run any game on max settings without even flinching or sacrificing quality. Made GTA 5 look very realistic to me to the point where I felt like it was real life at times because of how realistic the graphics felt and looked and how much juice and power this thin laptop can afford to push out. ... show more

  • Can’t recommend
Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
I did an exhaustive amount of research on gaming laptops, and eventually settled on this one. It seemed the most cost-affordable option that still had quality. And with such a steep price, one hopes to get an object of quality. In some aspects, it does have a lot of qualities. The laptop feels solid, with a nice keyboard and track pad. The colors are muted, which is what I wanted, and the predator logo isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I knew that the 2080 MaxQ graphics cards wouldn’t compare to a true RTX2080, but they still pump out nice graphics and good frame-rates. It isn’t very heavy, but you will notice it in your backpack. But then come the problems. Within a week of purchase, my monitor inexplicably died during a gaming session. I shut the computer off and googled it, realizing that this was a fairly common occurrence with a simple solution. So I let it be, even when it happened more times. It wasn’t a weekly occurrence, but to have such a critical part of your machine inoperable is absolutely astounding to me. I can remember two distinct occurrences where I was sitting down to play with friends, and my monitor died during our game. How can you sell a gaming laptop that doesn’t even maintain its monitor? So, when the same thing happened to me last night, I didn’t fret. I simply reset the battery as I’d done in the past and waited. But now, all it does is turn on, and then off, repeatedly. Nothing else. I simply can’t recommend this product because of its lack of consistency. As an educator, I hoped that this machine would allow me to work and play, but now I can do neither, right before school starts, which is very frustrating. Now I have to scramble to be able to continue my work. Very disappointing ... show more

  • Spicy beast
Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
Great overall performance for a 2080s compact. CPU performance is not bad either. Gets a little hot so I use a cooling pad, but you can feel it through the keyboard. Overall this is the best laptop I've ever owned though to be honest. I've had laptops with touchscreens and fancy features in the past, but this beats them all. I did upgrade the storage and ram though. In order to do any upgrades you have to remove the motherboard from the laptop though due to the inverted mobo design. Not for the feint of heart. Also, I paid about half of what it appears to be going for today in Nov 2020. ... show more

  • It dies. Listen to what those other people are saying, don't buy it.
Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
Tried twice with this laptop. The first time I had it, it died within a few days, screen black instantly and resets wouldn't fix it. I figured it was just a fluke, and I sent it back and got another one. It lasted about a month longer before I had the problem again. It seems like they come with defective GPUs. The display will cut out under stress, but the whole machine won't die. It doesn't take long at all, sometimes ~15-30 minutes of use. The only thing you can do is hold down the power button to kill it, then wait a few hours for the laptop to chill out. It seems like it's a heating issue, but it's died on a flat desk after about 20 minutes. I even undervolted it before that. If it's a heating issue, it's a huge problem with the way the machine's designed. Honestly, I loved using the laptop when it wasn't dying. It's a great machine, it just has a HUGE flaw. The second time I got the laptop, it worked for about a month and a half. When it died, I was past the return window, but Amazon made an exception and took the refund. However, what they did not disclose to me was that there would be a $430 "restocking fee". A restocking fee shouldn't be charged for a defective order. Are they throwing a dysfunctional machine back on the shelf to re-sell? And should that cost $430 anyway? It would be one thing if I was given any kind of warning about a potential fee. To lose that much money for returning a defective product is crazy. If you are going to return it past the window, know that you're going to lose out on hundreds of dollars. Take it from someone who has had two of this laptop: don't buy it. I thought it wouldn't happen to me and it did, twice. ... show more

Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
At first I really liked this computer but then about 1 month into using it I experienced a black screen. This problem has only occurred while playing a online game. While playing a online game the screen just turns off; the audio, both input and output, still works, the key board still lights up, and anything plugged in are still powered. Apparently this is a issue with the model and my first attempt to fix it through acer has failed. I am not happy to have spent a good chunk of money on a 'gaming' laptop only for it to have problems only while playing games. I will be trying to get it fixed through acer again. I would not recommend this product to anyone. ... show more

  • Super-fast gaming computer raises the bar!
Capacity: 15.6 in, 16 GB DDR 4, 512 GB SSD Style: GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q
This laptop is the fastest and most capable I've used so far. The 8th Generation Intel i7 is quick and enhanced by the Predator software built in to the laptop. You can easily change clocking speeds, fan speeds and configure this laptop for high-end functionality. Noise is minimal when the fan is on slow - it gets pretty noisy when the fan kicks in, but heat kills computers so you have to live with a certain amount of it. One word of advice, don't plan on upgrading this laptop once you get it. It can be done, but you need to pull the whole laptop apart to get to the replaceable parts. Graphics are clean, crisp and detailed - the graphics really keep up with the action. Colors are well rendered, too. speaking of colors, the keyboard has interesting lighting effects available as well. One thing that never gets old is the speed that Windows 10 computers with solid state drives boot up. This thing is ready to rock within seconds of hitting the on switch. Everything else is quick too. I like that it has an Ethernet port built in - many so-called "thin" computers leave it out and expect you to buy an adapter. It comes with a few USB 3 ports and a USB 3.1 (Thunderbolt) port. It also has a Mini Display port jack and a HDMI port. About the only things it is missing are an optical disc drive (most laptops no longer have them built-in, and an SD card slot. I'm not a big user of them so I'm not real concerned about it, but they do come in handy for importing photos. This is my second Acer laptop and, while the other one (Acer Aspire VX15) was pretty nice (you could at least add a second Hard Drive fairly easily to compensate for the small 256 GB SSD) this one shines well above it. That one was a lot larger and heavier. With this model they have really packed a LOT of computer into a small, light frame. If you are looking for a great gaming experience or just want a really nice high-end computer - consider this one. It is great performing and really attractive. ... show more
