  • It's pretty good
Style: Notebook only
I have been using this laptop for a week and honestly find it pretty good. I went through a lot of reviews before making my decision and wanted to add my own for anyone thinking of buying this. PROS: -The screen is really vibrant. I haven't noticed any screen bleed or dull colors and the refresh rate is great. -The laptop stays very cool* under heavy gaming. -It's really snappy and responsive. I haven't noticed any lag. -The touchpad is very responsive and easy to use. -The keys are slightly raised and feel a bit soft but in a good way. They're pleasant to type on and it wasn't hard to adjust to this smaller layout from a wider desktop keyboard. CONS: -The fan is loud when gaming. Like, really, really loud. It might be jarring if you're coming from a desktop. -Battery life is pretty bad and the performance decrease when not connected to a charger is not extreme, but noticeable. NOTES: -As the other reviews have said, you need to press the power cord in and hear it click twice. -If you downgraded to Windows 10, you'll want to redownload the relevant drivers from Acer's website. I had to redownload the touchpad and io drivers to get mine working again. -You'll also want to redownload Nitrosense if you downgrade. You can use it to toggle on coolboost which keeps the laptop extremely cool. You can also allegedly use it to lower the speed of the fans but I didn't notice a reduction in fan noise so I decided to keep it on coolboost. All in all? The cons are pretty minor compared to the pros. I got it for a little under 800 dollars and consider that to be a steal. ... show more

  • Awesome Product For The Price!!
Style: Notebook only
Not only is it a beast! But the system internals works amazingly. Was able to upgrade the Ram to 16gb and was able to install a HDD. No HHD cable present. But 10/10 would recommend!!

  • A lot of bang for such little buck
Style: Notebook only
This definitely can't compare to my gaming desktop, but I needed something to hold me over while I was traveling out of state for 10 weeks for a training program in my new career. The build definitely feels like what I paid for (about $800), being a bit plastic and flimsy. However, the core components are pretty solid. I like the built in software for monitoring temps and controlling cpu and gpu fans separately. It does run a bit hot during high intensity applications (as to be expected with any laptop) but if you don't mind the noise you can really let the fans rip. If I were rating this in a vacuum, without considering price it would be a 3.5/5 as the build, camera, and ram are a bit lackluster. However, as an under 1k travel rig, this thing really slaps. After my trip I'll be able to get more mileage out of this as a DnD DM as it is compact enough to hang out behind my DM screen. The built in hdmi ports will be able to connect to a tv screen for digital battlemaps as well. Elden Ring and ESO both ran like dreams on this machine. I'm a big fan of AMD cards, but they are a lot harder to set up. I forgot how optimized nvidia cards come right out od the box. It was a pleasant surprise. The screen was nothing special, but it worked. I wish it were more vibrant and bright, but it wasn't a total game breaker. ... show more

  • Love it but do miss the CD slot
Style: Notebook only
I'm actually writing this review on my Nitro 5 and I love this laptop. Actually my 3rd ACER laptop; ACER has been so reliable that it's my go-to brand and this laptop does not disappoint. I can play Civ on it; I have about 30 Nancy Drew games loaded on it. It performs fantastic and the graphic quality is very satisfying. The only thing I would change is I would get a CD/DVD slot. Sure, there are enough ports on this that I could plug my external drive into it, so I guess it's just a convenience thing really. When I am using it for gaming, the fans are kind of loud but it really doesn't bother me. My next laptop is very likely to be an ACER. They're so reliable and easy to maintain. I have the same quality and performance on this ACER for under $1,000 as my daughter has on her $2500 Surface and I get the satisfaction of having paid mine off using the 12 equal payments with no interest plan. Can't beat it! ... show more

  • Extremely short useful life
Style: Notebook only
Since it arrived it had a problem with the video card so it had to be taken to the support where they changed the motherboard. 10 months after the repair it stopped out of nowhere. And the motherboard must be replaced again.

  • Fantastic Price to Performance Laptop
Style: Notebook only
I was casually browsing around for a laptop, and this one came out at the right time. I bought this on sale for $679.99, and with a i7-11800H with a RTX 3050 Ti, it's a fantastic price. Usually laptops that have a dedicated 3050 Ti hover around the $800 mark with a lesser performing CPU. Keep in mind the Intel i7-11800H outperforms AMD Ryzen 5-5600H by about 20%. A 1660 Ti in a laptop isn't a huge performance boost, but costs about $400 more on average. Note: It also comes with Windows 11, but you can always downgrade. Pros: - Price to performance - Haven't had any issues with gaming and cooling, but fan does get a bit loud for more stressful games - 144hz screen is great - Upgradability (I added another SSD and more 8GB RAM) Cons: - The power outlet is a bit difficult to put in. I've seen some of the DOA reviews and I'm almost sure it's because they didn't shove the outlet in hard enough. - On the heavier side of a laptop - USB-C output is only based on the Intel Graphics driver, can't use the GPU with the USB-C - So much Acer Bloatware. I spent the first few minutes with the laptop just uninstalling Acer programs Overall, it's definitely a great laptop and I have yet to have any issues using it. ... show more
