I knew I wanted a Chromebook that was light and powerful, with an SSD memory, touchscreen and tablet mode and found this one on Amazon fairly quickly in November just before Black Friday. The price was too good to be true and so I guessed there must be other choices elsewhere. But as time went on and I kept finding Chromebooks with cheap eMMC drives, 3-star reviews, considerably higher prices, I kept coming back to this Acer R11. It's very light, has the latest Intel Celeron quad core processor, 32GB of SSD drive and then during Black Friday I got a 128GB SD card for less than $15 that virtually disappears into the SD card slot - this is now a perfect combo for my needs now - very happy customer ! ... show more

Chromebook/Google customer service has ridiculous wait times, and I never did get through, but I was able to solve various word processing problems with Hushmail by downloading Microsoft Office Basic and converting attachments to PDF. Otherwise I couldn’t attach to Hushmail. Still getting used to Chromebook and not a fan of auto store on cloud, but great value for a large touch screen laptop fairly lightweight. I bought this Acer for work purposes, but due to how well it works, I use it for personal reasons as well! It’s smaller than the average pc, which makes it easy to take with me. It operates quickly, looks cool, and is awesome due to the fact that it has a touch screen and can be used like a tablet. Also the Acer chrome book is durable and I have received a ton of compliments on how cool it looks. It has all of the google plug ins and is overall a steal for the price. I love my Chromebook. I had an old one, but this touchscreen one is awesome. It's fast, user friendly, and when you flip the screen over it locks the keyboard so you can't accidentally type. Perfect for my classes and for portable work. Like all Chromebooks it functions like a tablet, so you install apps not programs. The memory capacity is small but can use an sd card. We love these! We had 1 last year and bought a second this year. We use them for our homeschool. The kids use them for online math, they use the word processing for writing newsletters (and love that google saves it so it doesn’t matter which laptop they are on, it’s saved and they can pull it up and work on it), they use it to watch movies, YouTube, etc. They’ve dropped them and they’ve survived. I've had many computers over the years; Dell, Macbook. I got this when my Macbook was slowing down and since I was fazing out my business, I thought I would buy this as an inexpensive alternative to another Macbook to have as an extra for simple things like email, various simple tasks and product downloads. Over the few weeks I've had it, it gets slower and slower, loses things right in the middle of reading or typing them and I still can't figure out where the downloads go and how to delete them. From the looks of the questions online, I'm not alone. When you want to download something, very often you can't unless you grant permission to give access to all your contacts. What's up with that? The design is clunky and difficult to open and the touch screen is so sensitive that it flips to another website if your hand passes the screen no matter how much I've changed the settings. I did lots of research before I purchased this, but when they said it's a different operating system, I was unprepared at how limiting and obstructive this would be. Now, I'm planning to invest the money in either another Apple product or a dell laptop. This Acer may be good for a kid in jr. high, but I think even they would not want it's limitations. Problem is....what do I do with it now? Total waste of money not to mention the frustration and embarrassment of lost emails. ... show more

    • Great small touchscreen Chrombook - Beware wifi issue and warranty work

This is a great small Chromebook with touch screen. Love it for the price. The issue is (and you can find info with a quick Google search) this model appears to have an issue from the factory with the wifi card. AT first a firm smack on the bottom would fix, then reseat the power wire where they attach. Finally had to send back for warranty claim - with Acer this is an easy process, put in claim, send back, get back (no communication from them in the interim, just shows up one day). The issue with that is paying own shipping to send ti to them. For a known issue impacting enough people to find in top results on a search for this model, I would hope they would own up and give a label to ship back, but no, paying myself to ship back for their warranty work is a bit irritating in my opinion.
