I purchased the RyzeYn 3, 14" WUXGA. Has a touchscreen, solid camera, decent streaming video quality, easily setup as an android customer through Google account, syncs to phone seamlessly, has Chromecast, very responsive, this is a great bang for your buck laptop as an adult user. Takes about an hour to charge from dead to full with supplied charger. Charge lasts longer than expected. The hinge is 180°, which is nice when laying down. Will update review if any problems arise but for now, highly recommended.

I really like this Chromebook. I have been reviewing quite a few before choosing this model. Seems to work well while watching youtube, shopping online, reading email, etc. I specifically choose a model with top facing speakers as the model I was replacing had speakers on the bottom. Which was useless with the Chromebook on my lap. BUT an issue I do want to add is that the speakers are not that great. My cell phone has better speakers. These tend to sound rather "tinny". I am rather disappointed with the speaker sound to be honest. One other thing to note, is when this arrived the screen ratio is more box-like than the traditional 16x9 I think may of us are accustomed to. OK, but those are a few things that I am not happy with, but other than that. This is a very good Chromebook. Battery Life is great, charges very quickly. I think the keyboard seems solid when typing. There is NOT a back light keyboard, if that is important to you. I hope some of this information helps some others. Very well worth the $299 price that I got this model at.

Tuesday morning, November 26, I bought an Acer Chromebook Plus 514 from Amazon. It arrived the evening of the next day. I set it up the next morning. Thanksgiving! Setup took a little time, but most of it was painless. I finally hit a hard barrier when trying to activate the AI Premium Plan, which is advertised on Amazon, and everywhere else I'd looked, as free for the first year. Every route I tried landed me somewhere with a button that said "Get Perk." Pressing those buttons always took me to an advertisement for Chromebook Plus models. Eventually, I admitted defeat and contacted Google support through chat. After an hour and a quarter of explaining the problem, getting put on hold, sending screenshots, copy-and-pasting terms of the offer, and following directions from Roxie, the Google support rep on the other end, he said he would have to refer the problem to "the engineers" to find out why I had no way to sign up for the offer. He said he would contact me by email in 24 to 48 hours. 27 down, 23 to go. I can't believe I'm an unusual case, so either (1) Google support is ignorant of the fix for a common issue, or (2) Google (or Acer) has blundered. Google should be able to move to fix either problem quickly. Will it? I'll post updates as a public service.

First of all, let me point out that I use my laptop for normal everyday activities like most people do. I am not a gamer. So far, I cannot see any difference between this Chromebook and my old Chromebook that I had to throw away. They were both around the same price point. I bought this one because it boasted so many features and improvements. So far, I cannot see any difference. In fact, there are two things that I dislike about this one that my old Chromebook did not have a problem with. First, the auto light adjustment with the camera clearly has troubles maintaining one consistent light level. I can sit perfectly still with the light in my room perfectly even and consistent, and the camera light level fluctuates from bright to dim, and it can't seem to find a place where it wants to stay for very long. I would say maybe it's just a malfunction in my particular unit, but I read online that many other people have had this same problem with this series of Chromebooks. Second, the dimming control for the screen could be much better. On my old Chromebook, as you dimmed the screen, it went down in even increments. The lowest level of light before actually turning the screen off was very very dim, and I could watch videos in bed with all the lights off in the room, and it was very pleasant. I can't do that anymore because the light level on this one really doesn't make much difference between the last three or four light levels before going to complete dark. The jump between the lowest light level and complete dark is a significant one. I would certainly give this more stars if it weren't for all the hype. I do feel I got my money's worth, although those problems I mentioned really should be fixed, especially the camera. It makes zooming very unpleasant for the other person. But the fact that I did a lot of research on this, and found nothing but hype for how wonderful this is, makes me give this two stars.
