  • Pretty good but keep expectations decent
Alright, this is budget so our expectations need to be kept to a minimum lol. First, 8 gigs of ram in 2026 makes it so this laptop is for the bare minimum of web browsing, emails, zoom, office work, stuff like that. You can easily max out the ram with several chrome tabs. The included bloatware is pretty crazy I have to say, this 100% needs a debloat tool or something because the last thing you need is anything taking away what little ram is included. The keyboard and touchpad is about what you can expect, it's a diving board design, nothing haptics like. With the keyboard, there isn't a lot of travel, I would say a teeny bit more travel than what you would find in those awful scissor keys that the macbooks use to have but that is to say, it isn't the most satisfying typing experience. The processor is weak and again, its more for very light work. Idling on the desktop is already showing noticeable cpu usage so that says something. The A.I promotion is also just basic Copilot integration so its not really anything noteworthy to mention. I found great use for this laptop just running it with a VM for a HA server, it really doesn't take much to do that. Since the heat output is low, it has a great use case for this. It's honestly not too bad and it gets the job done as long as you keep your expectations low. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Solid After One Smart Upgrade - Acer Aspire Go 15
The Acer Aspire Go 15 AG15-32P-352Z is a fairly basic laptop based on the spec sheet: Intel Core 3 N355 processor, 8GB of DDR5 memory, 128GB UFS storage, Wi-Fi 6, and a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display. It weighs just under 4 lbs. and includes a modern port selection with multiple USB-A and USB-C ports. However, in many ways it punches above its weight and is worthy of a close look. Performance is perfectly acceptable for what this machine is intended to do. The processor is not a performance powerhouse, but it handles web browsing, streaming, light multitasking, and schoolwork without much drama. For ordinary day-to-day computing, it gets the job done. A handful of browser tabs, YouTube, Word/Excel, and casual productivity tasks are all well within its comfort zone. It is also capable of light gaming as long as expectations are very realistic. The display is actually a pleasant surprise, mostly because of the large 15-inch panel. It gives enough room to comfortably work side-by-side with documents, and the larger screen size makes it feel less cramped. It is still a budget panel and only 1080p HD resolution, so the colors and brightness are just okay, but for normal indoor use it does fine. Out of the box, the biggest weakness is the 128GB UFS storage. Universal Flash Storage (UFS) is essentially phone-style storage. Its advantages are low cost and low power use, but it is not the same as a proper solid-state drive (SSD). UFS is like wifi at a coffee shop, while an SSD is more like using wired ethernet. Both work, but the experience is very different. Windows 11 alone can take up around 30–35GB, and once updates, apps, recovery files, and other system data are added, 60–70GB can be gone quickly. That means roughly half of the storage is already spoken for before you really start using the laptop. A typical 1080p movie can be 4-6 GB, so this gives an idea of how little usable space there really is. With that in mind, one thing that significantly improved this laptop was adding a 1TB Acer Predator NVMe SSD. I found several videos and followed the instructions carefully, including the recommended safety steps. The installation process itself was straightforward, and the system recognized the drive immediately. After formatting it, the SSD became available as additional storage without any issues. The Predator SSD is vastly superior to the tiny built-in storage. App installs, updates, file transfers, and general responsiveness are greatly improved. I love that Acer included a proper NVMe slot for upgrades, because it makes a huge difference in the long-term usability of this laptop and changes the experience considerably. The keyboard and trackpad are about what I expected. Acer put a pleasant textured finish on the keys, and the keyboard includes a full number pad. However, the typing feel is somewhat shallow and not especially refined. It is perfectly fine for everyday tasks and typical for most laptops in this range. The lack of a keyboard backlight is a bit disappointing. The trackpad is better than expected, though. It is reasonably large, smooth enough to use comfortably, and generally responsive during normal navigation. Another area where Acer did great is connectivity. The Acer Go 15 includes two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two faster USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1, and a headphone jack. For an inexpensive laptop, that is a surprisingly useful selection. Having both USB-A and USB-C makes the laptop much more flexible in real-world use, especially for external drives, flash drives, displays, and accessories. The faster USB-C ports are also a nice surprise. In addition, the Wi-Fi is decent, with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and dual-band 2.4/5 GHz support. Overall build quality is fine. The chassis is lightweight enough for a 15-inch laptop, and the design is clearly meant to be practical. It stays relatively quiet during ordinary use, and the cooling system seems adequate for the low-power processor inside. Like many laptops, though, it comes with more bloatware than I would prefer. There is a fair amount of bundled software and unnecessary clutter, so I plan to do a clean Widows installation onto the SSD rather than using the original 128GB drive. Overall, the Acer Aspire Go 15 is perfectly fine for its intended mission: an affordable laptop for browsing, email, and some light productivity work. The storage out of the box is very limited and the memory is not generous, but the strengths of the large display, great connectivity options, upgradeability, and ease of use make this a compelling option to consider. My overall impression is that this is a surprisingly solid choice if it fits your use case. Recommended. ... show more

  • Good enough budget laptop for light use
This review is for the Acer Aspire Go 15. It is important to view this laptop relative to its target market. This is a low cost entry market laptop focused on office, web browsing, and email uses. Pros: Lightweight, slim design Sharp looks Pleasant keyboard Large mousepad Windows is snappy (with light loads) Sharp screen with wide view angles Not a lot of bloatware. Cons: Basic speakers. Placed underneath front. Low end quality audio. LED panel frame is flimsy Mousepad was difficult to click SSD not super fast Fan Exhaust blows hot on back But the biggest con, which is not the laptop’s fault, per se, is Windows. I attach some screenshots so you can see. But for example, you could not run Microsoft Teams on this laptop. At best you can run a few browser tabs and some Office apps or maybe Zoom. The laptop has eight gigs of RAM, with about 6 to 7 used with just Microsoft edge opened. It has 117 GB SSD with only about 66 gigs free. While the processor gives windows a snappy enough feeling, it rarely sits below 20% usage, even at idle. So all of these may sound like cons, you have to keep in mind the price point and target audience of this laptop. It’s only a couple of hundred dollars and it’s good enough for light Office work, Web browsing, email, and zoom. But I’ll say again, not Microsoft Teams. The laptop itself feels really slick, light, easy to type on, and has a nice screen. ... show more

  • The most foul laptop I have ever laid mine fingers upon.
I am speaking from the bottom of my heart, from every breath that I can muster to take, from every veracity and pledge to the nature of truth that I can provide- that this is by far the worst laptop I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The specs are absolutely atrocious for the price point- 2 years ago I could have bought a laptop with twice the ram and four times the storage for the same price, and there is no valid reason under the sun for that to not be the case today, and particularly not concerning this laptop. The 8 GB of RAM, an insanely low number considering the delinquencies of modern developers in conveniently forgetting to optimize their programs, already poses adequate risk for substantial decrease in the consumer (me)'s personal experiences in using this laptop. That risk is further compounded by the absolutely insane amount of atrocious bloatware pre-installed onto this machine. Now, any reasonable man may be thinking upon hearing this: "Oh, just go use Linux! Linux will solve your problems!"- and one would be correct, if it wasn't for Acer's historically abysmal track record as it comes to Linux compatibility with their machines. I tried three different distros, three, and all of them failed in their own unique way. I tried MX (which failed to install completely), Xubuntu (Which completely failed to detect the network card), and Manjaro (which kernel panicked whenever I booted without the Live USB). So, in desperation, I returned back to the cesspool that is modern Windows. It took me 13 hours to fully debloat the machine and get it into a position where I am able to use it comfortably. 13 hours- to remove the bloatware, to install customization, to add programs needed for daily driving, and of course, to remove the metaphorical GALLONS of telemetry protocols installed by Microsoft, Intel, and of course, Acer themselves. Using this laptop stock without doing a clean installation of your own is tantamount to signing yourself up to be the guinea pig in testing the Patriot Act in 2001. Furthermore, I have absolutely no idea how you fine folks over at Acer continue to believe that AI is the future of laptop sales, especially not on this hunk of junk. It should probably be considered false advertising to label this thing as "AI Ready"- while it is true that this thing is able to connect to Copilot servers (same with every other device with a Wi-Fi chip) - this thing can't run nor train a local AI model any better than I can do underwater micro-soldering, as to say, not at all. I keep bumping into the Copilot button which keeps opening Windows settings. I don't like this. I don't need a link to "Forge of Empires" shoved in my face upon first boot. I don't appreciate the fact there's no dGPU. I'm not a big fan of the nasty sticker residue left when I tried to remove the Intel I3 sticker (because I'm sure not showing off to my friends that I have the worst CPU ever) And I certainly don't appreciate the potato-looking camera that can barely handle taking a Zoom call. Truly, verily, indubitably, this laptop is the definition, if there ever was a clear and concrete definition of e-waste, or e-waste to be. This thing is not any better than the Chromebooks given to my cousin in 5th grade. I would just save up the extra $100 to buy a MacBook Neo. Don't suffer as I have. ... show more

  • Quite the upgrade
Last time I bought a laptop was for class work back in 2015. On my, what an upgrade! Thi battery life alone was worth the upgrade. The performance is perfect for every day tasks, this is not a laptop that’s going to be a pro gamer or get you through graphics design. It will be a great web surfer and personal computer. For the money you can’t beat it. The 1080p IPS screen is beautiful and the full keyboard with number pad is so nice to have on a laptop. Setup consists of the normal windows nonsense, we all know how fun that is. The storage could use a bit of upgrading if you are planning to store files and such because it didn’t come with a lot, but at this price point, storage costs more than the laptop itself. Either way, this is a really nice computer and performs wonderfully and is super affordable. Can’t go wrong. ... show more
