    • Good size, perfect for casual user
It comes with only 8GB RAM, not good for gaming, but there are slots to expend the memory. Two are easily accessible, one is under the keyboard and difficult to get to. My old HP Envy was the victim of an assassination, a glass of water knocked over by my cat. It had a 1TB (that's tera byte) hard drive with all my important things on it like taxes, Assassin-Cat pictures, baby pictures, etc. The one and only reason I bought the ACER laptop is it has the 256GB SSD that comes with it and a hard drive bay where I was able to put my 1TB hard drive from my destroyed HP. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Acer. It's been an adjustment, though. The keyboard isn't as touch-sensitive as my old one, but it's much better than any USB keyboard I've used. The sound isn't fantastic, but if you go into Settings and set it for Movie, it isn't too bad. It's lighter than my other laptop, slightly smaller overall size but the screen size is the same, it has a numbers keypad which was a must for me. No touch screen, which I miss, but it's fine. There is a camera which is surprisingly better than the camera on my old HP. This is a nice, basic laptop. Right out of the box, it's perfect for users who want a basic computer, users who are not tech-savvy, if you just want something for using MSOffice, playing games on FB, watching videos online. When you think of those things, you typically think of grandparents and parents with adult children It's perfect for them. It's also perfect for a student. Plus, with the additional hard drive bay and expandable RAM, it has great potential for expansion for the more tech-involved user. My techy friend was able to put in the 1TB hard drive and add the RAM from my HP to the existing RAM, so this thing flies! 10 out of 10, I would absolutely get it again. ... show more

    • Its a good deal for the money
I need a not to expensive computer preferrably a 17 inch laptop to become a dedicated piece of equipment. This is a nice 17.3 laptop with a fairly good monitor and processor. It is not a top of the line 17 inch laptop with a QLed monitor that is why i gave it 4 stars. it is a really good deal a great deal for what you get.     • Awesome computer for the price!
Let me start out by saying that this is a great computer for the price. It is NOT a computer for power gaming or professional video editing, but for real people doing real work and enjoying less INTENSE gaming it is great! Now, before I bought this I asked a couple of questions on here regarding upgrading. I got one answer from someone allegedly associated with Acer saying that "The internal components such as the wifi card are not upgradeable on the laptop products." Not so. Within 90 minutes of receiving this I had: 1. Replaced the 512GB NVMe with a 1TB (Acer) NVMe, 2. Added a 2TB SATA 3 SSD, 3. Increased 8GB the RAM to 20GB, 4. Replaced the 2230 PCIe WiFi card with an Intel AX210 for WiFi 6e, and 5. Installed the Linux Mint 20.3* operating system. Now, I admit that I have been a "computer person" for 40+ years, but these upgrades were quite simple. This is my second Acer computer in less than a year. I find that Acer, in general, has good value for the price. Both of my Acers run Linux (one dual boots with Windows) flawlessly and it was VERY easy to install. For the price this machine is quite powerful, and my upgrades (ALL obtained here on Amazon) just make it even more so. I play mid-level games (even at age 60+ :), I do "office things", I program, and I even do some video editing and transcoding. Everything is very smooth. The display is VERY good for an IPS LCD (I wasn't looking to spend a small fortune for OLED), the keyboard is good and even the touch pad is quite responsive. I like it. I am well satisfied with this purchase and will likely continue to purchase Acer product. I have had only a single issue with Acer. My other Acer has warnings about not leaving it plugged in once the battery is charged. I did in fact slightly damage the battery. I haven't tried leaving this one plugged in, although I didn't find any warnings with this one. (But, really, an overcharge protection circuit is a really cheap and simple thing; why not include one?) At any rate, contrary to Acer's opinion, the batteries are easily replaceable. * If you want to put Linux Mint 20.3 on this computer, you will want to install the "Edge" version, or know enough about Linux to upgrade the kernal, to get full hardware support for this machine. ... show more

CPU: i7-1165G7 Style: Notebook Only
This is my 5th laptop i think. I hope it also lasts over 2 years. Its one of the more expensive computers ive had. My last one was also acer. It was half the price. My new one has larger screen, more ram, bigger drive, good internet connection, better ports. In fact, the reason i bought it was mainly because the hdmi port died on last device. I need to connect to my tv. I like where the fan is. Its less likely to collect dust. One thing im not sure if just me but i wish the power cable were just a foot longer. I like the fingerprint reader. It works better than my s22. ... show more
