First off, it has a compact chiclet keyboard which has a useful numpad making it versatile for all office/school work and even light gaming. The 1080p screen is crisp and vibrant which makes it great for watching videos or reading documents. The battery life is meh. It may last around 12 hours with battery saver on and light use, but still I would like for it to push more. Now for the bad stuff. The construction and build is horrible. It uses like a magnesium aluminum alloy which is cheap, weak, and brittle. When you type you can feel the entire plate press down and retract back up. Also when I unscrewed and pulled the bottom panel off, I may have broken the retaining tabs. This laptop only comes with 4gb which is barely enough to do anything. I ended up buying an 8gb ram card which fortunately this laptop does have a spare slot for upgrading. Doing so will probably lead to you breaking the inside tabs like I mentioned. The most annoying part is the loud fans at the bottom. Even when just scrolling through documents it insists on revving up. I could not imagine using this at a meeting or even at a lecture. Overall, it's solid if you just want a laptop to use at home and perform light tasks. Considering this was the cheapest 1080p LCD laptop (when I bought it), its pretty competent apart from my mentioned qualms. After 1 year its still holding up fine. I would however advice to look at getting used or even new Thinkpads from Lenovo instead since, in hindsight, they seem to be a lot cheaper as well as being higher spec. ... show more

I bought this laptop just to have something "mobile" when I want to get online or do some "light work" out of the house (I normally use my desktop computer which is a BEAST!) I will be using this to watch movies/videos, surf the net, check emails, go on social media and a couple other programs such a OBDII reader that I will use with my OBDII device via wifi or usb to work on my cars. 4GB of ram is good enough for what I will be doing. If I ever feel that it needs a little more power/speed I will add another 4 or 8 but so far it is perfect. The 128GB SSD is more than enough for what I need and this was one of the key factors that made me buy this computer. Cheaper ones come with eMMC storage which is slower and normally only 32GB or 64GB It does not have backlit keyboard, I wish it did but it is not a deal breaker and I already knew it didn't have it before placing my order. It takes about 45 seconds to boot (a little bit on the slow side) but once its loaded it runs pretty smoothly It came with Windows 11 S More which won't allow you to install anything except from the Microsoft store (I think that's what's called), but getting out of S mode is SUPER EASY, takes less than 1 minute. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do that. But, be aware, seems like if you get out of S mode there is no turning back! In a few words, this is a very good machine for the price. I am not intending to use it for gaming, editing videos or designing. It is strictly for light use (browse the net, documents, watching videos/movies, and a couple of programs that I like that don't require much to run). It is pretty lightweight, the casing looks nice, the screen is matte and bright enough, the speakers are OK, seems a little bit fragile if you were to drop it or step on it (I am always careful, so this is not a concern). I also like the fact that is a name brand and is not a chrome book! I don't give it 5 stars because it would've been nice to get it with 8GB and a backlit keyboard. This laptop has been a great purchase for my mom. If you're looking for something to do some light tasks like using itunes, going on Facebook and the like, this is a solid purchase. Its fast and responsive for those kinds of light use, but don't expect it to run any sort of modern games well. Overall this is a great purchase for the parents or family member that needs a computer every now and again but isn't computer savvy or needs a lot of computing power. I purchased this for my daughter. It does very well for her needs, which is basically Roblox and Snapchat. I helped her set it up and was never frustrated by random freezes or slow downs, but that's also why I don't buy less than an i3 processor. The only problem ever encountered was her mouse (external with USB dongle) stopped working once. I found the USB controller had shut down due to an error. I just disabled it and re-enabled it and it worked fine. It worked fine after an update. I would buy this again. ... show more

Bought this at a good price for it's features. It was pretty good before but now runs very quickly after adding 8gb of ram ($20). An simple upgrade with many easy to follow videos on youtube on how to do it. Great screen, decent sound, very lightweight. The keyboard is a little weird because it is offset because of the number keys added. Touchpad is uber sensitive, even on it's lowest setting. Took a while to not be accidentally "clicking" on the wrong things. Battery life isn't too bad, about 6 hours continuous use before recharging. Very pleased with my purchase. UPDATE- Still happy with it but battery life is closer to 3 hours of continuous use. ... show more

After having used this laptop for five months almost exactly, I feel it's time for me to share my opinion on it To be honest, at first I was in love. The laptop is lightweight and has a sleek look, and the screen is nice and crisp and you can hardly notice the bezels. The aluminum top cover is beautiful, and the chassis feels really nice on all sides. I'm a big fan of the elevated design, improving air flow, and this laptop was 40% cheaper than the last one I saw with the same specs. Which by the way had just shipped, so I got charged for it while this laptop was on sale for $30 less than its current price. :) Except, the one I had just bought did not have the same specs at all. The same CPU, but... I'd been planning to buy an Acer Aspire and upgrade the storage and RAM for many years now. Cyber Monday finally came at a time when I could afford to do so The first problem, one that didn't occur until two months and got much worse over the next two months, was that the plug for the charger stopped behaving. You know how a cable gets when it goes bad- it gets picky and doesn't work unless its bent or pushed in some way. The contact still entered, but didn't seem to seat on something and was a little bent. I resolved this issue The next was that, somehow, the heatsink assembly next to the fan got misaligned. The heat pipe had a dent, which may have meant the remaining length was bending or deflecting in some way and now failing to align the heatsink with the fan. I wondered how this happened, but about last week I was walking around with the laptop in one hand (yknow, like, you have a right to do with laptops...) when I felt the bottom chassis contact with the fan under my finger. That's not something that's ever happened to me before! If it's so bendy at the bottom there, that bottom part needs to be made more robust somehow The i3 model, also, doesn't have a backlit KB. Neither did the cheapest Ryzen model in this generation of Acer Aspire laptops. What the heck, Acer? Why do you hate poor people? Thanks to the upgrades, I can probably sell this thing for a profit, but I'm going to be wary of the Acer Aspire line from now on, if not Acer laptops in general... truthfully, though this thing is a disappointing 2/5 but when upgraded I can be more generous at 3/5, the rating on this thing really needs to be taken down a notch... sorry Acer, but I like your monitors better ... show more
