Be advised that some sellers regard opening the unit as voiding the warranty. That said, this unit was designed to support at least some upgrades, and the easy replacement of the original battery- which is not glued into place, and will fall out on you if you pull the cover and turn the unit over. I'm currently running this unit with the factory drive, a new 4tb drive, and 64gb of ram. It will take up to two 8tb drives, but you'd need to get the OS onto the drive in the first slot or you may end up buying another copy of windows. The spec for the ram is not advertised. I had to pull the original to see the info. What's installed was not the ram on the description, and the unit did not come with a dvi cable as advertised either. Also, warranty listed after registration was only 6 months on Acer's site. The picture is a shot of the placard from the ram I used and the factory chip it came with. Mixing ram is not advised. if you can't find an exact match for the installed unit (which may vary from vendor to vendor), order the chips on the card. Fair warning: don't even touch the case until you watch one of the many videos on this product. Use a wrist ground, and you're going to need a "guitar pick" to get the bottom cover off if it's never been opened. ... show more

    • Keyboard backlights do not work

I have always used ACER and never had a problem . This computer is very nice. But the keyboard back lights come on during POST then turn of and Fn+F10/F9 does nothing. NitroSense 30 sec timer is off and the BIOS BKLT Timer is disabled and still no lights. Tried to contact Acer to see if there is a registry setting to set them on but no luck. ... show more
