This is my 2nd alternator ( 1st one bearings were shot ) this ac delco alternator loves to jump voltage !! Literally has a mind of its own and doesn’t like to properly charge the battery . This can potentially drain your new battery ! Don’t get me wrong the alternator “somewhat” works but definitely does not put out to its fullest potential . ... show more

I just received this alternator today for my 96 Buick Roadmaster. The listing shows the country of origin a USA, but the alternator box sticker shows the country of origin as China. The only thing identifying the alternator itself as an AC Delco is the the falling off sticker on it. No GM or Delco numbers on any visible part I can see. That sticker says manufactured FOR AC Delco, not that it was made be AC Delco which is a huge difference as it could be a totally different design that meets, supposedly, the GM and Delco specification. This could be one of the low quality Asian imports that we see so much off lately, but there is no way of telling if it is or not if we don't know who made it. The "made for Delco" statement says Delco had nothing to do with it other than selling it, so just like any discount seller of low quality, low cost, parts. Delco has been importing this kind of part for a long time, typically from Mexico. One review from 2015 even mentions that they got one from Mexico. Those products were fine with OEM type life expectancy and performance. I think many/most of them were made in GM or Delco factories in Mexico. This has none of those things so hard to tell if will hold up or not. The listing on Amazon certainly needs to change as it is not made in the USA. I really don't know if I will keep it or not as this all makes me very concerned about the quality of the product. ... show more

    • IMO not enough for loaded impala as.
Started out good first couple weeks. Is still good cold but when temps up output drops from 13.8 to 12 to 12.4 battery gets gets weak. Hot with all accessaries on 11 to 12v average output higher rpm might get it to 12.5 . When I first got it. Was steady 13.6 to 14.1 v. Little disappointed.

    • Noisy bearings not very reassuring.
The bearings make as much noise as the ones in the 20 year old original. It is charging nicely. I was hoping for made in the USA, but it is made in Mexico. It is nicely finished and it is a new part so there is no core charge. I did not have to clean out any of the mounting holes or threads like with some rebuilts. I do plan on getting the old one rebuilt at a local shop as back-up since I don't trust the noisy bearings. ... show more
