    • Do you use quick-connects on your garden hose? THEN you can use A/C PRO to recharge your car A/C!
UPDATE, NEXT DAY! 6-5-2015 As I stated earlier... I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS A/C RECHARGE BEFORE. I seldom "work" on my cars... though I admit that I did change my own oil a few times when I was in my 20s & 30s. And I do refill the fluid levels as required. I even wash my cars a few times a year... waxing optional. SO... AFTER I used this product I READ several reviews posted by others... the LOW STAR reviews! Just to have a feel for what had gone wrong. WOW. I guess I should have thought about being careful! I always am, GUESS that is WHY I never gave it a thought that there would be SO MANY WAYS that a person could maim himself for life just using this little kit! My CONCLUSION... IF you CUT yourself and need an ER visit JUST FROM opening your mail... DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS RECHARGE. BUT if you are reasonably mechanically inclined and have common sense, this is still a DIY project that can be done in 30 minutes, or less. SO HOW's the A/C working A DAY LATER? FABULOUSLY COLD! Blowing very chilly air and everything seems JUST FINE. I did notice that the "left over" coolant that did still "shake in the can" right after charging seems to have leaked out so it will not be useable in the other car. NOT TOO SERIOUS IMO... I still got a working A/C system in our primary travelling vehicle to ready it for this summer, and likely several future summers as well. AND IF NOT, I'll just need another can of A/C PRO or similar product. WARNING REPEATED with EMPHASIS... ATTENTION... EMPHASIS! I did notice several claims that using this product damaged the A/C systems serviced! SO LET ME REPEAT an observation noted in my original review... and expand just a little on the details. A/C Pro comes with a PLASTIC SPACER connected to the top of the coolant charge can... then the gauge-hose assembly is screwed to the top of the spacer so it appears as ONE ITEM. When I removed (UN-SCREWED) the gauge from the spacer, I noticed that the sharp metal threads of the gauge that screws to the coolant can (and pierces the sealed coolant charge can as it is screwed on) HAD SEVERAL WHITE PLASTIC SPACER FRAGMENTS in the threads and even wedged at the edges of the rubber washer that acts as a gasket between can and gauge. I CAREFULLY REMOVED ALL THESE FRAGMENTS... even used a tooth pick to depress the rubber washer so I could coax out the last fragments wedged between washer and metal threaded area!!!!!!!! Per my earlier remarks... IF THESE FRAGMENTS are ignored and get into the coolant and enter the A/C system of an automobile through the charging hose, I would NOT BE SURPRISED that the system might be damaged and need repair. Some errors noted, like overcharging the system, I just fail to see HOW a careful person (WHO ACTUALLY READS THE INSTRUCTIONS) WOULD MAKE THOSE MISTAKES while following the directions in the attached tri-fold info sheet located right on the side of the can. This A/C PRO kit is NOT A MIRACLE REPAIR for an auto A/C that is inoperative because of some more serious system failure... BUT it does what it claims to be able to do. IT SAVED ME $100 plus at the dealership and restored the cooling power to my auto A/C. Now that I have used it... and still have the hose-gauge assembly, I WILL PROBABLY USE the hose-gauge assembly TO CHECK the A/C system operation each spring... and, IF NEEDED, use a can of coolant to TOP OFF the A/C system from now on to assure peak cooling performance, keep any small leaks sealed, and keep the seals in the A/C system from aging and cracking prematurely. I would still encourage MOST DIYers to give this a try BEFORE paying over $100 at a dealership to restore cooling to an A/C system that has not emitted a cloud of smoke/coolant... or made DEATH-THROE NOISES signifying THE END of its mechanical integrity! >>>>>>>> ORIGINAL REVIEW<<<<<<<<<<< IF YOU CAN USE a quick-connect on your garden hose, THEN YOU CAN RECHARGE your auto A/C system with this product! I've never used a product like this before. I had seen the cans of coolant many times, but I never had seen what was needed to use one of them UNTIL I happened to search Amazon for coolant since our car was marginally cooling and HOT SUMMER DAYS are still a few weeks away. I looked at many products... BUT THIS IS EVERYTHING YOU NEED! Just looking at it, it made sense! coolant, connector hose with squeeze-actuator, AND GAUGE to see what is going on with the system. MIND YOU this is NOT a kit to REPAIR major failures of an auto A/C system... but low coolant and/or perhaps seal small minor leaks,,, THIS WILL DO THE JOB! Note: Do not panic... there is an instruction flyer attached to the can (similar to the info sheets on pesticide containers at the garden center). Basic steps... (1)... You have to find the low pressure line of the A/C system & remove the plastic cap (save the cap). It will be the ONLY FITTING that this quick-connect will fit on the A/C lines. (2)... With the car running and A/C set to MAX COOL, snap on the quick-connect and hose-gauge assembly. Move the gauge dial arrow so it is pointing at the AMBIENT OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, notice where the gauge moves during the A/C cycle of compressor on & off. (Probably will not be in the desired V on the green scale that brackets the arrow on the dial.) (3)... Remove the quick connect, remove the plastic spacer-protector atop the coolant can... CAUTION... make sure there are no plastic particles from this spacer in the hose connector that screws onto & punctures the coolant can for use! Don't want any foreign debris getting into the auto A/C system causing an unnecessary failure to have repaired! Connect hose gauge assembly to the coolant can. Shake well. (4)... Re-connect the quick-connect to the car and squeeze the trigger lever. Shake the can and continue charging the system with coolant; the can will begin to feel cool but does not get too cold to hold. It does not frost over. My car has an auto-control that has a set temperature target... so the clutch cycles the compressor on and off as it runs. Other types of systems may run with a different on-off pattern for the clutch to engage the compressor. At first the gauge may not register any movement , but as the coolant recharges the system, there will be a HIGH psi and a LOW psi indicated on the gauge during the cycling of the compressor. KEEP CHARGING the system as needed until the HIGH psi reads in the V on the green part of the scale for the ambient temp set. Congratulations... YOU HAVE SUCCEEDED! (5)... Remove the quick-connect and replace the plastic cap you saved in step (1). This product can is 20 OUNCES! Many cans being sold are only 12 OUNCES. My car A/C was cooling slightly, then probably freezing up due to low coolant. As I was adding coolant, I began to worry because it seemed that the indicator needle was not moving... not indicating any change in the psi reading... UNTIL over half the can had been introduced into the system. THEN it began to show a LOW psi - HIGH psi. As I continued to add the coolant, the HIGH psi moved higher until it WAS WITHIN the V that brackets the arrow pointing to ambient temperature. Then there was clearly a difference in pressure with the compressor on and off. When done, the A/C Pro 20-ounce can "felt like" it had 2 to 4 ounces left in the can! Clearly a 12-ounce can of coolant WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ENOUGH to recharge my auto A/C system. Now I have the REUSEABLE hose & gauge... and a bit of coolant left. Next time I might only need a 12-ounce can. If there is no slow leak that seals using this recharge with the leak stop in it, there might not be a next time. Just do the other car! ... show more

    • Was not the problem
Worked for 10 mins and AC blew cold air but then it was warm air. The problem was a bad condenser which sits in front of the radiator. There were little rock holes which leaked the refrigerant R134. This was a $300 fix at a reputable and honest mechanic shop. Once there is a leak, warm outside air is entering the sealed system and needs to be evacuated before recharging the AC system. So if you try to recharge the AC system using this, look for leaks at the condenser beforehand and if there are several holes or rock chips, it may be more of a fix to change the condenser first which is way cheaper and easier than replacing a compressor. ... show more

    • Easy to use, works
Got this to recharge the AC in my car. I'm in the middle of the repairman spectrum and found it easy to use but could see just about anyone who can read instructions being able to use it. As expected it made my AC cooler and there's seems to be enough for 2 cars, but there's at least enough for 1 car charge. Just follow their directions or youtube instructions. If your AC isn't working you won't regret trying this fix yourself. ... show more

There are two nozzles on cars. Find the right one and just press the nozzle until the gage turns green. Super easy and fast. 2009 Mercedes wasn’t blowing cold air, this quickly changed that.

My cars AC wasn’t blowing very cold. Started to hear occasional squeaking on the belt. Turns out all I needed was to charge the AC. Used this and bingo! Cold AC once again. Great product. Buy it.

Liked: directions on-line how to do Disliked: Directions for 2004 Lexus RX330 NOT realistic; Charger connection end fell off during disconnecting from Low charging port allowing 134 refrigerant to be released from system. Removed end before too much escaped.
