  • Great fan and excellent functionality. Super Quiet
I was really impressed with this fan, the controller functionality, and build quality of the fan. The fan is extremely quiet and you can barely hear it at setting 6 which is a little over half speed. If you have TV or anything else on you could run it at full speed and probably not hear it. My only other comparison for speed is a fireplace fan made up of 3 computer style fans which moves a lot of air but is very noisy in comparison. I gave it 4 start on ease of install because of the wire configuration coming out of the controller. In my situation it doesn't matter sine I have it hidden and mounted in built in cabinets next to the fire place but if you wanted to surface mount it then there is no clean way to do it with the wires extending down from the controller. I do like the functionality of the controller, I am only using the Auto High temp setting to turn it on. I would buy this fan again just because of the DC motor speed control and functionality it has. ... show more

  • Direct replacement for older, loud fan
I find that I am fairly sensitive to noise. The old blower in my bedroom gas fireplace was so noisy I had a hard time enjoying television, and it was impossible to have on while I slept (it was a GFK-160A). Last year I purchased two other products from AC Affinity (an automatic duct fan and a register booster fan). I was very happy with both products. I was hesitant to get their fireplace blower because of the instruction to mount the control unit on the wall. I don’t want yet another thermostat on the wall, or the wiring hassle. I was wrong. There is no need to mount the control unit anywhere, it can be left under the fireplace near the fan motor. You do not need to adjust it anymore than you would with the older analog models (set once and forget). It is a direct replacement for my old blower (which had a turn knob to adjust blower speed and a similar temp sensor). I used the provided Velcro pads in place of screwing the blower to the back of the fireplace. Installation took less than 20 minutes. There is no vibration sound. I have the blower set on speed 7 and it is soooo much quieter than my old blower. The room heats up as fast or faster than what I had before. Very satisfied customer. Today I purchased the slightly larger version to install in the family room. ... show more

  • Nice product but not the best for my gas logs
I have an old Heatilator GCDC60 that vents to the outside of the house through a heat pipe in the wall (not a chimney). I was hoping that the Airblaze T12 would circulate the air into the 2 story living room for efficient heating instead of running the HVAC and needlessly heating the entire house. Unfortunately, this did not happen as the living room only gained 2 degrees (68 to 70 F) in 3 hours when the fire was on the lowest setting and the living room fan was in winter mode circulating the air. The Airblaze worked very well but I think it's simply the design of the Heatilator that prevents the Airblaze from really shining. I have no complaints about the Airblaze T12 though and here are a few highlights: 1. Very easy installation: Bolts, screws, and large velcro pads, zip ties, and more are provided for mounting the blower and the controller unit -- I used the velcro pads to secure the blower to the back of the sheet metal furnace. 2. Easy programming: There are many configurable options and, it couldn't be easier to manipulate. The only thing you need to know is that all modes are enabled out of the box. So, for me, I set the Auto High Temp settings to 75 degrees and then disabled all other settings by holding the up and down buttons at the same time on the LCD controller for 2 settings on every other mode. This includes high and low humidity controls and all alarm controls. 3. Quiet operation: I was very pleased with the noise level on this blower. There are speeds 1 - 10 with 10 being max speed and I was quite comfortable with the noise level on setting 8. We easily watched TV at a low volume and were not disturbed. 4. Moved a good amount of air: The unit has good air flow but I think a portion of that was cut off by the design of my particular furnace. There is only a 1.5 inch gap for air to travel upward between the body of the furnace and the rear wall of the fireplace and I think that's where I'm losing a significant amount of airflow efficiency. I would highly recommend this unit for those who want to customize the blower's activity as there are so many options, or those who are concerned about noise levels, and finally for those with furnaces that have a larger gap between the body of the furnace and the back wall of the furnace or fireplace. A 2.5" gap would be ideal I think. ... show more

  • Great upgrade and much quieter.
While the controls take a little bit of fiddling to get right, this fan is very quiet when configured to run at a maximum of half speed, and even at full speed is much quieter than the fan that we replaced.

  • It’s great but the.
Ok the fan works great. Tested the 10” fan and it uses very little watts but puts out good flow. I got the 12” and it fit on the left side and got the 10” on the right side under the fire place. Both of them together you can tell in a little amount of time the air getting hotter on the other side of the room. If I would do it over don’t buy the 12” smart controller it’s just not worth the cost. I got the smart controller on the 12” and the wireless controller on the 10”. You can’t really tell the air difference between the 12” and 10”. But I like the wireless controller on the 10” way more than the 12” smart controller that cost way more. I end up using the 10” more then the 12” just don’t want to spend the extra time going to the 12” and getting it going or turning it off. They say you can just set the smart controller and forget it but the thing kicks on with no fire no matter what is set the temp to. Then sometimes it will not kick on with the fire going. Now the 14” has a way better smart controller that you can hook other devices together and turn on/off with your phone. Of the 14” fit I could use it to control both fans on my phone I would love that. The 12” smart controller is something from the 1990s and not really smart at all. The 10” wireless controller is better and more to this day in technology well maybe the early 2000s. 14” smart controller is more like 2010-2015 technology. You can hook up multiple devices and use your phone to control them. So end of story 12” control sucks so that’s why I don’t give 5 stars. ... show more
