Does not split even small logs. I’ve been cutting and splitting logs for my fireplace and wood stove for over 30 years. This does not work. It’s too short for average 16”-18” split logs. The blade just slides down the edge of the wood without cutting. Tried on short 10” piece of wood and it failed. I’m 6’ and weigh 190 and couldn’t make a dent. Did not try scrap lumber like demo video. Don’t buy if you intend to make kindling from split logs, it’s worthless!

I have had this almost 2 months now, and it has reduced my hatchet time to almost zero. It works well for splitting 12 inch pine chunks into kindling. The blade was sharp enough, and I did not need to get out my file. Now I don't have to risk losing a finger to the hatchet. One small annoying thing is the loud clack when the arm falls on the base. I put on a rubber foot, and it came off the next day. I tried to drill and tap the arm for a nylon screw, but the steel was too hard for even my best drills. Wrapping a rubber band over that part helped. The manufacturer should add a rubber bumper. The gloves are light duty, but actually rather nice for handling wood. Just remember, this is NOT FOR SPLITTING LOGS. Won't happen.

Blade is very dull, not sharp enough to break skin of finger. Blade cutting edge was rounded so needs some serious grinding to sharpen it. The longest log that could be cut is 14". Anything longer and the log or wood would just slide down the blade. Wood needs to be at 90 degrees to blade in order to cut without sliding up or down the blade. NO notch on the stair step base would allow longer than 14". Both blade and base are 16" long. Handle is welded to the blade so that was a plus to its construction.

My wife found this item in a FaceBook video and thought this would be a good way to make kindling. I mounted mine on a 2x6 for portability and as long as I keep the strips to about 1/2 inch think it does great. I think you would have to be build like the Hulk to go through a log like it shows or utilize soft wood, I have white oak and it takes a bit of muscle to get through sometimes. This tool helps save time and my back. I just ensure when I am splitting logs on the log splitter to ensure anything used for kindling is no more then that 1/2 inch think.

I like that it mounted easily. I don’t like its ability to make kindling. It doesn’t work anything like the video shows. The built in knobs will not hold the wood therefore the wood just flies out of the tool. Even though I started the cut and attempted to continue it just wouldn’t cut and the wood just fell out.

Unless you are using a fairly soft wood and small pieces this thing is useless. Maybe a longer handle would work better? Hard wood, Not possible with this. I tried ash pieces because that's what I burn, Impossible! You'll need pine or something soft like it. Make sure you have a good base to anchor this to. Otherwise, I guess you could use it as a boat anchor.
