Many "weather/waterproof" locks are neither because they use ferrous metal internal parts. This Abus lock uses non-ferrous metals throughout. I once had one submerged in sea water for several months...came back to find it still working just fine. Note: it is not "waterproof", there are no seals to prevent water from entering...because they are not necessary due to the non-corrosive nature of the internal parts.     • Perfect gym padlock
The shackle diameter is bigger, but just barely fits on most gym lockers so this is a winner in my book. This lock has a heavy duty feel to it, much beefier than your average everyday padlock, so it *feels* like there is added security. Also, changing the combo is super easy.

    • Great lock
Good and weatherproof. I haven’t had any issues setting or resetting combinations. The dials are a tad finicky to spin, but they set into place on the numbers well enough. Sometimes I can’t turn them backwards, and have to spin through in sequence to reach a missed number. Only thing that irks me.

    • NO LONGER WORKS. ITEMS STUCK.
I've been using this lock daily for over a month, and now it won't open. I'm going to have to call a lock smith to break the lock so I can retrieve my items. What a time and money waste this lock has caused me. NOT RECOMMENDED.

more expensive than other similar locks, but it seems that I have to replace locks every few years, hopefully this will last longer...

    • Very nice for challenging environments
Had a couple of these for 20+ years. One finally fell apart. So I bought another one. Hopefully it will last another 20 years. BTW, the first 20 were in a marine environment, on a boat in salt water and rain and all the elements. Never failed.

    • Weather Resistant and Long Lasting
We have two of these on our outside gates. So far there has been no sign of problems due to being out in the weather. They are easy to put your own code in and are durable yet easy to open and close.

    • Rough build & operating quality
Not what you think of with a product from a German manufacturer. Irrespective of where products are made, the German manufacturers usually ship a quality product. Not the case here. The stamping for the housing is poor, the machine work is rough, ours came with a nice scratch, turning the combination dials is stiff and imprecise. As a note, this is consistent with my last Abus purchase. Abus is now on my ignore list. Would have returned it but finding quality seems too much to ask in this era of "value" ... show more
