Shackle is slightly smaller diameter than typical 40 shackle. It does not appear to be hardened steel shackle. Will definitely repurchase in the future. Better quality and similar price to Brinks and Master Lock.

    • Sturdy lock! Hard to pick!

This is a good lock, I forgot the combination and spent two hours fiddling with it to remember what the combination was. I got it open with a combination (ha, lock puns) of vaguely remembering at least two of the digits and some lock decoding tricks online. There is *very* few videos online of how to "decode" this lock which is a plus for anyone who is securing things against people who have *no* idea of any of the numbers. This lock apparently has "false gates" which basically means it tricks you to think you've found a good number when you haven't. There is no such thing as a perfect and unbeatable lock; but this one would require an amateur the free time to look up the *two* YouTube videos that exist (one in German one in English) and then fiddle with the lock for at least one or two hours before decoding it. This assuming they don't have something that can just cut through the steel of course. Definitely a good purchase to use for "semi casual" levels of security. I use it with my PacSafe security bag so it just has to protect against casual theft by housekeeping or someone who follows housekeeping into the room. In theory there won't be a thief who has access and all the tools out in the open but one never knows! ... show more

This is definitely an indoor lock as the internal parts will corrode, making it difficult to operate or potentially seize altogether. The shackle is very thin gauge so maybe don't use it to lock expensive items in your gym locker. Otherwise, it had served it's purpose.

Bought two of these as I do generally like Abus products. Used on shed mostly, but not completely protected from rain. No snow/ice where I now live. Both locks after a couple months had dials that stopped working. I was able to force them to move so I could remove and trash them. These are probably ok for indoor use. ... show more
