Wow! This was my first premium Abu Garcia reel purchase and I could not be more impressed. Highly recommend. About a year back while wandering one of the sports stores I came across a really nice Abu Garcia spinning pole that had been placed on sale. I picked it up, took it home and forgot about it. Then a few months later I found it in the garage and I aimed to get a decent AG reel on it. After looking up and down the AG line I decided on this model in 30. I mostly fish cut squid off of piers in Southern California. I decided to spool this up with some Spyder Wire #20 line in high visibility neon yellow. I use different leaders naturally for whatever I’m going after. Anyway, I couldn’t be more impressed the casting, handling and the smooth cranking. Great feel, great weight, great balance, super smooth retrieval. And I’ve landed some decent weight halibut and sharks with this combo so I know the gears inside can handle a hefty fish. Anodizing looks amazing. I am super happy with this purchase. Was it a little bit more pricey? Yes. But after handling it for a while now I have zero complaints, I would buy it again. ... show more

Rocky Mountain Lakes trout at 90 feet are no match for this reel. My Brother has had the same Regis for 15 years. This was my first Revo. Silky smooth, strong, and very well designed. One and done buy.

I like the reel, but I found it prone to wind knots. It is forcing me to become more methodical and hands on with my cast and retrieve. Clicking the bail closed with the handle is not recommended. Close the bail by hand and ensure a loop free spool (after pulling out line for a quality presentation). It becomes second nature and you will end up doing it with all your poles. So, it’s good and bad. Forces a better presentation of the bait on the fall but requires a change of muscle memory. Edit: Spooled with Power Pro Spectra Hi-Vis 10 lb braid with a 6’ Stren Fluoro Leader 10 lb So, apparently, by upgrading my fishing characteristics I have increased productivity. No wind knots and more ability to drop a bait on a slack line. Excellent Reel! ... show more
