The outside of the box has a photo of the product and contact information for the manufacturer, as well as a QR code. Inside the box, right on top is a small white cardboard box with the accessories, then the camera itself, and a small fold-out instruction booklet. Inside the accessory box is a power cable. (USBA to micro USB) a wall mount base for the camera, a set of screws and anchors, and a wall power adapter for the camera. The camera itself is in a small droid-looking case that you see in the ad. The base of the camera turns for rotation, and the ball of the camera tilts up and down, so you have a true pan and tilt with this camera. If you tilt the ball part up far enough, you can see the slot for an SD card (Not included) and a reset button for the camera. On the very back of the camera is a speaker grill and a QR code. You can scan for assistance if needed. It's a little disappointing that the camera runs off of a mini USB, as the USBC connectors are becoming more of a standard. Since the camera does run off of a 5-volt phone style USB adapter, it would be possible to run this from a phone battery pack if you wanted to. After you have decided where you want to mount your camera and have handled the physics of screwing the base down, you'll have to install the app on your phone. Interestingly enough, The instructions provide a QR code rather than telling you the name of the app. The QR code directs you to a page on the company's website, which then transfers you to the Google Play store to download the VicoHome: security camera app. Time to read the instruction booklet. Once you have downloaded the app and installed it on your phone, you have to create an account. Once you have created the account and signed into the app, the app gives you several push notifications and makes you go through several hoops trying to sell you cloud service and extra add-ons before you even get to the camera part. Once you get to the device section, you have to click on the little button at the top to add the device. You can use this app to control several cameras, so you'll have a lot of choices there if you want to expand your security system later. Once you plug your camera into power, it goes through a centering process that turns the camera and rotates tilt to reach a neutral position. The camera then sits there and bongs until you pair it with your app. To pair your new camera, you merely click the add device green cross in the upper right-hand corner, make sure that your camera is plugged in, and then follow the instructions in the app. Once you follow the steps in the app and enter your Wi-Fi password, you'll have to show the camera a QR code on your phone so that it completes the binding. When it has seen the QR code properly, the camera will ding, and then after a moment it will tell you that it has made the connection. The app will then change and allow you to name the camera and location to make it easier to tell what camera you're looking through. Through the app, you can rotate the camera and tilt up and down. The motor on the camera is very quiet, and I doubt that I would be able to hear it from more than a foot or so away. In testing it, and holding the camera on my lap. I could barely hear the gears whirring inside to turn the camera. Since the camera did not come with an SD card for video file storage, and I didn't have one on hand, I can't attest to how long it stores. The intercom through the camera does work well to speak through it, but it does have a little bit of a time lag. Likewise, it's the same. When hearing sounds through it. You can hear the sounds of someone speaking or moving, but there is a delay to it. In addition to the delay in video and audio, the power cable is very short, about 3 feet long. I’ll be investing in a longer cable. All in all, this is a pretty efficient camera for the cost.

For the money, this is a great video device. The motion sensor is great and is able to distinguish between people and pets. Night vision is great! It swivels smoothly AND quietly! You need to download the app in order to get all of the functionality. But once you connect the device, which is really easy, you can also sign up for their cloud service for a 7-day trial ( 4.99 a month after to see if it works for you ) or you can use a memory card to save all your videos. This device is automatically setup to only record if it detects motion. This is an indoor camera, and it is amazing indoors, I had zero issues with the camera indoors. The night vision worked wonderfully. However, I also tested it outdoors near my place and by my front door to determine if it could be used there as well. On the wall by my place, it worked flawlessly outdoors, even at night. There was a little background light but everyone who walked by was picked up by the motion sensor and it clearly identified if it was a person or pet, even at night. By my door, it was not so good, but I had it behind my window indoors, facing outside. There was not enough room on the sill to back it up so the glare and reflection through the window was annoying. During the day it worked fine and the reflection was not a problem. At night, however, the reflection kept it from picking up people outside and the motion sensor worked off and on. This seems more like a "my setup" problem. When I hooked up the device outside on my porch it worked fine at night. The window and reflection were the problem, and it clearly states in the manual that it needs to be away from windows in order to avoid the reflection. So depending on your porch/door, you might even be able to use this as a door camera. I got this mainly for indoor use ( I dog sit sometimes ) so this is wonderful for me, but the fact that I can hook it up outside or by my porch if I need it is great too. Honestly, for the money this fits all of my needs. I will be testing this a lot for the next few months and placing it around in different spots. But I highly recommend this so far.

The media could not be loaded. So, it's NOT actually "wireless", as it DOES need to be plugged in to work; however, it does seem to work fine when plugged into one of my rechargeable portable battery packs, so it's not really a deal breaker, just a little bit less convenient than I thought. I assumed the camera to be rechargeable. As for the camera itself, it has surprisingly good clarity!! It's way better than my namebrand baby monitor cameras actually! I have a camera mounted in each of my kids' rooms, but picked this one up thinking it would be handy to tuck in the corner of the living room or playroom to keep an eye on them sometimes. I tested the night vision around dusk, so it wasn't pitch black, but it's still much clearer than I expected for such an affordable camera. The pan/tilt options are great, although the control isn't completely nuanced. Each tap moves it several degrees at a time, so you may not be able to get something exactly centered, but close. Motion tracking is pretty responsive in both day and night. It was quick and easy to connect to my wifi, and only takes maybe a minute to reconnect after it's been off/unplugged. It does make a 2-tone noise when you try to reconnect, so keep that in mind if using near someone you're afraid you'd wake. It makes a tiny mechanical noise as the direction shifts but harder to hear from a distance. When first setting up, it did 4-tone noises every few seconds until i was through the app download, register, and setup, so get that done before placing in a room too. Overall, I'm really happy with this camera!
