This book was a very quick read, easy to follow along with the storyline. Though a lot of it was speculation, and summation, but, still very plausible when taken into consideration on the whole. Being a Gator fan, and watching him play for UF, I was, of course, enamored with him and his abilities as a football player. However, pulling back the curtain and revealing so much that was unknown didn't make for a clearer understanding of him, or why he was the way be was. There appears to be so many variables and facets to him, and a lot of it shrouded in mystery to this day, and maybe forever. My only complaint with this book is either no one proofread it or it didn't get transcribed well from book to kindle. Way too many spelling and grammatical errors. ... show more

    • Very good read with some eye opening chapters

This is the third book I have read about Aaron. One was by his second attorney who was the same attorney that got Susan Anthony off. In his book he makes Aaron the victim of this whole thing. That is what some attorneys do. I read one written by Aaron's brother. That was an excellent book. He knew Aaron better than anyone. The Killing Fields goes into a lot of details about Aaron's life. They paint him as serial killer. It is a good book and worth the price I paid. ... show more

Due to who wrote it I expected some National Enquirer type reporting. If any of the previously unknown stories are true or not is hard to say. Starts like it ends: just a tragic waste of life and talent.

    • An In-Depth Look at A Tragic Figure

Dylan Howard does a masterful job in outlining the dark and tragic life of Aaron Hernandez. While many out there would see the NFL as a way out of a bad life, Hernandez, who had no sense of accountability or remorse, went in the opposite direction - drugs, drinking, sex, violence, and crime. We know the ending and the book does an outstanding job of showing how the events took place that lead up to it. Hernandez wrote "John 3: 16" across his forehead prior to his suicide. If only he had believed it, his life would've gone in a better direction. So if you find yourself lost out there and in a dark place, look no further than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 King James Version (KJV) ... show more

I read this on the anniversary of the Hernandez's suicide, mostly in an attempt to find out why he might have killed himself right after being acquitted of a double murder. I knew almost nothing about this case before and I found a lot of big holes in the author's theories. He alternately states an idea as fact and then turns around and says he has no way of really knowing, but it sure would make sense, wouldn't it? And here's the thing: it would make a lot more sense if the author were correct. But at this point we just can't know... ... show more

Love this book. I have been following this kid since he was playing college football for Florida Gators. Just when I thought I knew it all I read this book and it gave me a different insight on what really goes on behind the scenes and how college and NFL coaches and the franchise protect these men. The author of this book did Aaron justice from being a kid through to dying in prison. The book was researched meticulously. The story was awful and no one helped Aaron from sexual/physical abuse to his death. The one who helped the most was his prison warden who taught him to read. That being said I think Aaron was doomed from the start. ... show more

While the book is basically the same as other books, I did come away wondering how Aaron committed suicide. They say he hung himself, but I dispute that. He used his own blood to write on his forehead.. Makes one wonder if he also cut his wrists. Read the book..
