  • Very convenient
Style: AC Adapter not included
In 2020 Consumer Reports rated the A&D Medical UA-767F as one of its three top-rated automatic blood pressure monitors (the other two are the Rite Aid BP3AR1-4DRITE and the Omron Evolv BP7000.) This one's in the midprice range, with a 5 year warranty, an accuracy of 3%, and it comes from a respected Japanese medical supply company. It's powered by four AA batteries that should last for 700 readings. It will store the last 60 readings for each of up to four users. And it's very convenient. Just put on the cuff and press the Start button. In a minute you're done. It just works. And it works every time, without any fuss. Here are a few helpful tips hidden in the fine-print of the manual. The date and time have to be set before readings can be saved. Double press the button with a clock icon and use the arrow buttons to set the clock. To make an immediate panic stop, press the Start/Power button. The cuff will deflate at once, and the reading will be discarded. To save a reading, press the Start/Power button when the BP reading is displayed. That saves the current reading and turns the device off. To discard the current reading instead of saving it, press either of the arrow buttons. Negative points? A saved reading cannot be erased. Data cannot be digitally downloaded to a computer or phone. For children, a separate monitor is required, not just a smaller cuff. A socket for an AC adapter is provided, but the adapter is not. The 5 year warranty applies to the electronics only; the cuff has a 2 year warranty. ... show more

  • Very nice, no frills monitor but I did not like the cuff
Buying a blood pressure monitor turned out to be a lot more complicated than I expected. I ended up buying three models before deciding which one was right for me. The ones I purchased were: - Omron 10 (BP786N) - Withings Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor - A&D UA-767F I initially purchased the Omron, but it had inaccurate diastolic readings, so I purchased the Withings. However although the Withings was very accurate, it had other issues, so I purchased the A&D, but it had inaccurate systolic readings and a cuff I disliked, so I returned it and decided to keep the Withings. However the Withings stopped working on the 27th day. It resumed working the next day, but I no longer trusted it, so I returned it and am using a replacement Omron 10 in its place. I tested these blood pressure monitors rigorously, being careful to use proper techniques and recording all results in a spreadsheet. I was impressed that the Withings had the most consistent and I believe accurate results. I did not have the opportunity to take it to my doctor’s office, but I tested against five other home monitors: my old Omron 3, which has been regularly validated at my doctor’s office, a LifeSource ( A&D) UA-767 at the Kaiser Permanente Education Office in San Rafael, CA, two Omron 10’s, and the A&D I returned. Compared with the Omron and Withings, this A&D BPM is basic and no-fills, but impressive. It’s also the cheapest, selling (as of February 2017) for $15 less than the Omron and $50 less than the Withings. It doesn’t pretend to have Bluetooth connectivity. It’s what I wanted originally, but after my problems with the Omron and Withings, I decided that Bluetooth for Android BPM’s is more of a hassle at present than it’s worth. Its accuracy would have been on a par with the Withings and maybe a little better if it hadn't been for a defect that caused it occasionally to report systolic readings that were at least 10 points too low. I tested it repeatedly, trying to eliminate the possibility that I was doing something incorrectly (I’ve been measuring my blood pressure every day for six years, so I have experience at it). I finally reluctantly decided to return it. Before deciding to return it, I tried contacting A&D several times about the systolic errors, but the contact form on the A&D website always crashed, giving me an SQL syntax error. Its data averaging is not as automatic as the others, but is more flexible. The Omron and Withings allow you to average three measurements. It’s totally automatic, You press the button and it does three readings. The A&D requires that you manually start each reading and to time the interval between readings yourself. However the advantage is that you can average as many readings as you want, up to 60. It averages all readings in memory, so if you want to average only the current ones, you need to delete all previous readings from memory. If you record your readings ina spreadsheet like I do, this is not a problem. One things I strongly disliked about the A&D is the cuff. The Omron and WIthings cuffs are superior. The A&D is very long andt I found more difficult to use than any of the cuffs on the two previous blood pressure monitors that I’ve owned as well as the Omron and Withings. If I ever buy the A&D, I’ll buy a medium cuff for it (approximately $20). One other thing I like about the A&D: it’s the only one of the three monitors that had all the information I needed to know contained in a single manual, which was included both in printed form with the manual and available for download. The A&D is the only one that comes with a carrying case. It seemed to be pretty decent quality. Overall the A&D impressed me. If the one I bought did not have a defect that causes random systolic reading errors, I’d have kept it and ordered a different cuff. ... show more

  • Perfect accuracy!
Style: AC Adapter not included
We've tried a number of different BP monitors - this is our last! After having our PCP check our BP, we using the A and D Medical. Both readings were identical to the PCP's readings. Identical! The monitor is easy to use and supports up to 4 individuals. The cuff is easy to wrap around the arm and the velcro holds very well - a critical attribute for accurate measurements. The pump is quiet and deflates quickly. As we see it, there are no downsides to this monitor. It is a keeper! ... show more

  • Very inaccurate
Style: AC Adapter not included
This unit was showing systolic blood pressure 10 to 15mm lower than actual readings when compared to a high quality manual sphygmomanometer (blood pressure unit). So although the unit was easy to use and read, what good does it do if it is inaccurate. This is very dangerous to folks actually having high blood pressure, lulling into a false sense of health. Unfortunately, I tried another unit which tended to be about 10mm higher than the accurate comparison readings. I just think in general these machines cannot be trusted. And to make things worse, both of these machines were rated as Recommended by Consumer Report and as being very accurate. NOT!!!!! ... show more

  • Stupid cuff
Style: AC Adapter not included
Hostile velcro in the cuff has so far rendered this machine useless for me, altho my husband has managed to use it. Arthiritic fingers of this senior cannot adjust the cuff to fit well enough to get anything but an error message. So I have to spend $20 more to buy an alternate cuff that I hope will work. Very disappointed. I bought this as a direct descendant of the old faithful model I used for twenty years. I still hope to use it. A&D should offer a choice of cuffs! ... show more
