Look: Why don’t they use these as OEM?! Dealer did an oil change on my 2018 JK and a week later oil was pouring out. At first glance it looked like a rear main seal. After a little Googling I decided to check the filter housing/cooler. Sure enough, dealer over tightened the cap and cracked the factory PLASTIC housing. It was a job to install this but if you have a general understanding of engines you can do this yourself. Took me about 6 hours in the garage. FYI: start by removing the battery, battery box, and air filter box. Once I figured that out it was much easier. Take your time and remove the items in the way. There are no shortcuts with these.

It’s been 3 months and so far no issue and no leaks, only issue I ran into (not the part/company’s fault) is the 2016 Durango I guess is a odd ball year so most of everything I found online is that it has 2 sensors which is what this part has, my Durango only has 1 connection so the top plug isn’t being used, so either plug it with a cap or just leave the sensor in. I called Dodge to verify that my car was just missing the whole wiring but they said it’s fine and it didn’t have 2 sensors for that year, so don’t freak out if you have the same problem

have never changed this before, but i have had to remove the upper intake in order to change lifters and rockers, so it was just a little more extra work to remove the lower intake to get to the oil cooler. Cost at a dealer was $700-$1000 dollars to replace, so i had to take the gamble of doing it myself. Unit seems built pretty well. This was kind of an emergency repair after noticing oil all over the underside of my wifes Jeep because the original plastic oil cooler must have a crack somewhere. I didn't want to spend $200 on the Doorman one, but i also didn't want to get the cheapest one. This one was kind of right in the middle with a coupon for an additional amount off. Gaskets all fit as expected. The unit itself, i initially thought it wouldn't fit. At first glance, it looks identical to the original besides being made of aluminum instead of plastic. But, it would not drop down into the valley of the engine. The old one lifted right out. Looking at the oil filter end, there is a port that has a plug in it, and the plug sticks out too far past the body of the unit and hits the block when trying to set the unit in place. The original one has the same port, but it is shorter and does not stick out. I had to angle it and put the oil filter end in first down further and slide it in place. Then it set right in place. Bolt holes all lined up. It is a good idea to get them all loosely started before tightening so it can "find" its final location. Durability and whether the oil leaked is fixed remains to be seen. I cleaned as much oil as i could, but there was so much underneath the vehicle that it is probably going to continue to drip for a couple weeks
