It has a very substantial feeling rubberized backing. This is not a cheap looking and feeling stiff rug with a hard back similar to what you find at big box stores. This rug is flexible, super soft, easy to clean and move around. It is not a formal rug nor is it deep pile. It lays nice on floor, a few minor creases that will work out with time. It has a nice weight to it. Will definitely purchase again for other rooms. Great rug! Very easy to clean. Although the vacuum can suck it up ,its light. I have a vacuum that dials down so this doesn't get caught in vacuum. You can clean with a dust mop also for solid and dog hair. Used a Libman 12 inch duster mop just to see if it worked in a pinch,works great. Follow direction for stains and never have a stain! Bought two of these rugs and for the money it is a good buy. The quality is decent, and rug is soft and looks good. My only complaint is the rugs come folded in a package and not rolled. The seller emphasizes that this helps keep costs low however, when initially laid out there are creases in the rug. The directions indicate that over a week the creases should flatten, but so far most are still there 2 weeks later. I see where other buyers report that after vacuuming the rug the creases disappear, but for me that was not the case. I hope that over time the creases do go away, but I will say that with everything considered, it was a good purchase. ... show more
