If you're like me and you're constantly swapping between computers throughout the day, you're gonna want to check out this 8K USB 3.0 Displayport KVM Switch. This little gadget has been a game-changer for me. It lets me control 2 computers or laptops with just one set of keyboard and mouse, plus I can share 4 USB 3.0 devices and 2 monitors (you can either extend or duplicate the display mode). I hooked up a SteelSeries audio mixer for my Sonar headphones and it works pretty smooth. The only hiccup I've noticed is that the audio occasionally drops out. But honestly, that could be the headphones - I got them around the same time, so it might not even be the switch's fault. All in all, I'd say this KVM switch has been super useful and is making my multi-computer life way less of a hassle.

The displayports that come with it are either crappy, or very old. I put some certified DP 1.4 cables (you need 6 in total considering you need two per PC + the two displays). It works G-Sync and Freesync and 4K144. When you switch displays, it's literally like the monitors are disconnected when you come back. You have to see how that affects while you have a game open or video applications while working or whatnot. It takes like 5 seconds to switch between computers. Power cable is not necessary (I think it's for the usb hub). When I connected it, it gave me an EC error on the board and the computer freezed (scary). So far 3.5/5. Will update if anything happens. Tested on: Computer 1: CPU: Intel i9-11900K Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z590-E GAMING WIFI GPU: GIGABYTE AORUS NVIDIA RTX 3070 OC OS: Windows 10 Computer 2: CPU: Intel i5-6600K Motherboard: MSI GA-Z170X-Gaming 5 GPU: PowerColor Hellhound AMD Radeon RX 6600 OS: macOS Ventura Screens: Samsung U32J59X 32-inch 4K display BenQ GW2480

I am starting a WFM job and was sent another computer, plus 2 new monitors. Computer is DP, monitors are HDMI, company sent DP to HDMI cables. However, I also have a gaming rig with 1 DP monitor and 1 HDMI monitor and no room to set up an entirely separate workstation so I purchased this KVM switch hoping it would solve my problems. Unfortunately, the DP-to-HDMI does not work with the KVM switch (it does work straight to the computer though). I'll be returning this and switching it out for a KVM that comes with one of each; should have done that in the first place but figured (incorrectly) that the adapter would be sufficient.

My wife found herself in a pinch. She had recently started working from home, and was given a company computer from which she had to do her professional work. Problem was, she has a personal computer of her own, and didn't have room at her desk for two complete computer systems and twin monitors. This switch solved that problem handily. For those unfamiliar with KVM switches, here's what the switch does: it takes a single keyboard/mouse and a single monitor, and allows two different computers to share them. Each computer connects into the back of the switch by way of one HDMI (for the monitor) and one USB 2.0 (for communicating with the keyboard and mouse). Your monitor also connects at the back of the switch via HDMI. When you want to switch from one computer to the other, all that you need to do is hit a button... and as the name of the device suggests, it switches. Easy-peasey. I had ordered the unit which offers 4 USB ports at the front, which would allow such things as thumb drives and USB headphones to be sharable between computers. This works without a hitch. My wife, who is partial to her own wireless keyboard/mouse, wanted to plug her dongle into the switch, and doing so worked seamlessly. While she has two systems below her desk, the surface of her desk has all the space she's always had: one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse. The unit powers itself through the USB connections from either computer system, so there's no new cord to plug in (considering you're already rocking two computer systems, power strip space comes at a premium). There's also an extension to the switchover button, so if you'd like to hide the switch box entirely, you can rig the remote so that it sticks underneath your desk like a panic button. We just use the button on top of the unit, since the box itself is only a bit larger than a pack of cigarettes. In a device which is designed to save space, it makes sense that it doesn't occupy a lot of space on its own. It's a device which only does one thing, but does it well. Once it's set up, you won't have to worry about it. And it's reasonably priced!

I bought this to switch between a home mac-mini and a work macbook pro. At the start, both computers worked with this switch ok. When I would switch to the laptop, both monitors would not always come on. But, over time, the monitor switching became less consistent. Sometimes both monitors would work on both machines and sometimes only one and occasionally no monitors would work. Then, the mouse stopped working. I would return this for a refund if I weren’t beyond the return window. I have only had this for about one and a half months.
