  • One of the Few Controllers That's Worth the Price
Color: Lilac Purple
The 8Bitdo Ultimate C 2.4g Wireless Controller with Turbo Function and Rumble Vibration is a game-changer that is a testament to style and functionality. It has upped my gaming experience with its exceptional build qua-- Oh, wait a moment. Sorry, I forgot I wasn't an AI. Allow me to try again. *ahem* For any game controller, there are five aspects that matter most: comfort, connectivity, battery life, durability and responsiveness. To sum up for those who want a quick review, this controller scored very high in each category. I absolutely recommend it. However, for those that wish for more details, they are offered below. Comfort (9/10) -- It is very comfortable to hold. Of the many controllers that I've held in my life, this one is comparably much more comfortable than most. The only reason that I didn't offer the highest score is because I'm certain there are people out there who will find it either too small or too big. To be fair, I'm not certain that there are any controllers that can universally offer proper comfort to every single person. Connectivity (9/10) -- The controller connected immediately and without any issue. Furthermore, it stayed connected no matter where I walked around in the room. When I wished to disconnect or turn off the controller, it was extremely easy to do so. The only thing I didn't like was that each controller requires its own dongle to connect. It's a bit of an inconvenience. I like the idea of connecting many controllers to the same system without issue, but perhaps that's just wishful thinking for now. Battery Life (10/10) -- This is perhaps the most surprising feature of the controller, as it seems to last for an unusually long time. In fact, I haven't ever had the battery run out. I do charge it every once in a while, but not obsessively so. I expected it to fail at some point and it hasn't yet. Durability (9/10) -- While the controller is plastic, it feels quite durable. It lacks that flimsy quality that many wireless controllers seem to have (as if dropping it the wrong way would break or chip something off). I don't think it's deserving of a perfect 10 score because I don't think it would necessarily survive being thrown multiple times across the room by angry gamers (though whether or not that actually matters is up to you). Responsiveness (10/10) -- I used the controller with multiple games with the explicit purpose of testing its responsiveness and was both surprised and pleased. Every movement and button press happened instantaneously and they seemed to be the same whether the controller was plugged in or wireless. Value (9/10) -- I have added value as an additional category for those who are wondering if the controller is actually worth the price. After all, even if a controller is amazing, if it costs $1,000 -- is it really worth it? In this case, it's definitely worth it. It seems to sit around $30, which is more than fair given its competition. It's simply not worth paying a few dollars less for something significantly worse. This controller is worth the price that's being asked. ... show more

  • Bought 2 years ago. Still works just fine.
Color: Field Green
I mostly use this controller to play games on Steam on a PC. The pros. 1. Has nice hand feel. I have smaller hands but I think the size is probably good for many hand sizes. The controller definitely feels more like a switch controller, which is a little more smoother shaped. 2. Battery life/time. I turn off vibration and this probably tripped the battery time. Even after using it regularly for 2 years, it's still holding charge just fine. 3. You can charge while playing if needed. Some controllers don't do this. 4. Can't run headset from controller. Though to be fair, I'm pretty sure you can't do this for any PC wireless controller. And I've not got it to work with an official wired Xbox controller either so. Not sure it's a valid complaint. 5. The center button illumination isn't too intense. Doesn't blind me or distract when using. It's just a basic white illumination. Perfect. 6. Times out and turns off with no activity for 10 min. Better than a 5 min time out. And it reconnects quickly. 7. The backside is textured. Easier to grip. 8. Xbox thumb caps fit on joystick. Despite the design looking like a switch controller, switch caps are too small and do not fit. So fyi. 9. After 2 years it still looks new. I take good care of it, use a stand, and wipe it down occasionally, but yeah. It does still look new. No worn spots. Cons: 1. can't turn off vibration on the controller itself (I turn off in game or via steam). 2. No battery indicator. I always have to guess if I think it needs charged or not. But because the battery life is so long (with vibrate off) I've actually never had it die while I was using it. 3. The plastic is pleasant but not as nice as the soft grip kind that feel a little like silicone. But those also stain and discolor. So this one is a mixed pro/con. 4. Occasionally I get drops in connection. It's like the controller just turns off. I don't think it's from low battery because I just click that center button and it's back on and stays on. Every time it has disconnected it's been this issue of the controller turning off. Which makes me think it's not registering activity and going to sleep. Hard to say. It's rare. Probably happens once every 40 hrs of game play though it's been happening more lately (controller is 2 years old now). ... show more
