This art set is good for young budding artists. It's good for anyone needing some budget supplies or anything else. The quality of the oil paints and other equipment is good for practice or finished pieces. It has almost everything an artist would need to get started with oil paints. The art set comes with a variety of paint colors and canvas. There is a whole brush set too. There are pallet knives and even an easel that can store supplies. There's a palette, of course. The art set is missing a few advanced supplies such as gesso, however. Gesso is a primer for canvas that keeps the paint from seeping into the canvas fabric. I assume it is not included, because it is somewhat of a toxic substance. This product is advertised for children as well as adults, so it makes sense. I think this is a good budget starter kit. It is slightly heavy, so it might require a little setup from the parents. For myself, I always could use extra supplies, and this set is nice to have around. Thanks. ... show more

I got one of these Artally acrylic paint sets and I love it, this is the same type of set but for oil painting. It's a fantastic value for the beginner or student, everything you need to get started---except for turps---is included and some extras for experimentation are included as well. There's a full set of brushes and a full set of palette knives, a great selection of prepared canvases on gessoed board, and both a wooden palette and paper palette pad. I love the well made, sturdy, genuine wood easel box, it has an adjustable tilt and closes up for portability with all needed supplies inside. The set can't substitute for an art class, no instruction is included, but for a student or hobbyist taking classes this set will stock you with everything you need except turps and brush soap. The brushes and paints I would rate as midlevel / student quality, but they're a good enough quality that they shouldn't mislead or hinder someone new to the medium. Those who fall in love with oils and want to go on can replace the paints and brushes with professional grade later on if they wish. ... show more
