  • So much cleaner
Replaced my vive and 3 dongles for this thing double sided taped to the wall. Can pair 7 vive or index things to it. Index controllers and 3.0 trackers paired easily, 2.0s refused to pair unless plugged into computer and in pair mode at the same time. One of my 2.0s paired at like 6 fps, guessing the tracker is just old and grumpy. This things store name is pretty bad, its not a n7r by any means. Maybe change it to SteamVR Dongle Spider 7, HTC, Vive, Index, VR Receiver. Does not come with usb c cords, gonna wanna pick up an at least 10 watt 5v at least 2a usb charger (quest 2 charger is perfect), a usb c with an on/off switch, and a data cable. Fan is a bit.. scratchy if vertical. Silent horizontal. Again, usb c with an on/off switch. Theyre $2. It will light up blue if plugged in power on the side with the plug holes and if plugged into the pc on the opposite side! Both sides have to be lit for function. no difference in max range, 50 feet with dongles and 50 feet with this but at the same time i have no 2.4ghz interference where I am so my data is basically useless. But yeah, bought this to solve the weird if i move index controllers too fast they would overestimate movement issue and i can say its fixed with this! ... show more

  • Fixed all my issues
IL start off by saying this is 110% overkill. I only purchased this because I had consistent connection issues having multiple dangles connected and I also have 7 different trackers so this was perfect more my specific situation. I had tried getting 3rd party dangles and probably ended up spending more than I needed to if I had just bought this from the start. It only needs two USB c connections one for power and one for the connection to your PC and it has worked flawlessly for me so far. Only thing is that sometimes my controllers will connect to one of the dongles on the 7in1 instead of the internal ones on the headset and will need to connect my controllers first before plugging in the 7in1. It is also a little loud but it is definitely going to be quieter than a PC fam or internal headset fan once your actually in vr. Overall highly recomend and personally was worth the price given the amount of time i use it for. ... show more

  • Luxury spend, but hugely helpful.
Index user here, 2 vive trackers and a tundra. Let me preface this by saying this device works great and its been perfect for me so far. Plug and play and no drivers or issues. Highly recommend getting some long usb c cables, if your buying this, route it somewhere nice and far away from anything that emits any kinda signal. I unfortunately have my modem, router, and a NAS all on my desk right beside my pc, which also has several other things slurping up the air waves along with also living in an apartment complex. I also have a very small space for VR, about 2.5x2.5 meters (ignoring furniture too) Alright. Brass tacks. Pros: >Plug n Play (you'll want to use steam vr to re-identify your trackers but other than that...) >Small, light, easy to mount up onto the wall or ceiling >Almost completely negates any frequency delays or issues if you have clogged up radio waves (ie wifi and Bluetooth connections of any kind, even your cellphone on the wifi can cause some, even if subtle, interference) >Eliminates the need to use up multiple usb ports at the cost of a single usb c port to your pc. >Upgradeability granted to your setup: if you use an Index, but want a nicer headset, this thing will still connect your index controllers rather than having to get the steam dongles for both of them. (If you use your index still, connect your controllers to that first, before turning on your 7in1. Apparently the headset will keep trying to look for your controllers no matter what since they are meant to Bluetooth to the headset itself. Ive noticed slight tracking issues with the controllers myself and found this to be the remedy.) Alright, now the eh stuff. >This is my biggest gripe. Comes with no cables for neither power nor pc. (Come on this is already expensive guys, yeesh.) >Slightly fragile, maybe dont put this where the cat could knock it down or anything. >CRUCIAL: be sure to use correct USB C port and a correct power block rated for it. >Since it emits signal still, the same applies as the potential issue that brought you here: try to place it strategically away from other things that emit signal. Should be easy, and the antennas let you point where your playspace is. Less of a Con and more of a tip I guess. >Don't slack on the type of usb c cable you use. You'll want one thats decent and can match the speed of the port you use. Same for power, some cables just aren't meant for something like this. >Finally, Cost. No surprises there. If you are like me with 3 base stations or more, a small playspace, and are certain you're dealing with frequency issues, this wont dissappoint, but its cost really makes it tough to justify. This is really a luxury item, which makes everything a little easier. If you are crunched for money, I think its still worth trying another base station if you only have 2 or maneuvering where your dongle usb's are using a longer cable plugged into a splitter, maybe mounting that somewhere up high in your play space. I mean it too, try all you can too because as helpful as it is, I consider this a luxury at this cost, its almost worth just getting another base station or a pc upgrade for this much. If it was 100 flat and came with cables, it would be just fine in my opinion. It stands out from anything else you can get to improve connection for your trackers though, so like I said: Luxury. So far for me its worked flawlessly, with the only minor thing of it fighting with the index headset to try and connect my controllers. ... show more

  • No noticeable improvement over regular dongles
I've tried connecting seven devices to it but it only works with four. After that I was getting much worse problems than I ever had, like controllers frequently flying away and disconnecting. Thus it effectively works like a 4-in one dongle, performing about as effectively as the normal USB dongles do. There might be a slight improvement but I am doubtful because the issues were still present, and these issues tend to come and go with the time of day or night - overall it just doesn't do what it is advertised to do (run 7 devices) and it doesn't lessen RFI. I am using it in a house with no 2.4 ghz wifi and no other devices connected to the network. ... show more

  • Best Dongle Replacement
Even if this runs as good as the other dongle options (which it does), it is a lifesaver because it takes 1 USB-C port instead of 7 USB ports on my PC which is considerably easier on my motherboard ports! My personal experience has been very positive with this unit though, I rarely have issues with my 7 trackers connected to it. I primarily use 4 Vive 3.0s and 3 Tundra trackers with it. I see a lot of conflicting reviews on this product, but a lot of it has to do with the extreme touchiness of watchman dongles in general. This is likely a good last resort if other third party dongles are failing to cooperate, as they are incredibly sensitive to what USB port it's connected to, USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0, etc. ... show more

  • meh
it's expensive. comes with no cables or instructions. just a box with two holes and antennas. it successfully paired with 3 of my trackers, but my 4th tracker only stays connected if i am facing the dongle box, even tho my basestations are in a completely different direction. so i paid $150 to free up one USB slot. unless you like the way this thing looks just buy a USB hub. ... show more
