  • Clear and concise
I have exercised off and on for most of my adult life. When I am exercising consistently I look good, and feel good. I fell off the exercise wagon in 2020 when Covid happened. I stopped going to the gym, of course and became very sedentary, and now it shows. I am 70 years old and I am all too aware that my legs are not as strong and they could be. That's not a road I want to go down, so I started going through some of the exercise books that I have. Most of them are complicated and geared more for "younger" people. It's hard to know where to begin and I started feeling overwhelmed. I am a senior after all, so I ordered this book and it arrived yesterday. It is only 132 pages, and this is good news! It is a no nonsense and to the point book. No gym equipment required except maybe a bench for a few of the exercises. There are sample workout charts that give you the choices of 2, 3, or 4 days of workouts a week. Lots of choices without being overwhelming. I have a full set of dumbbells that are calling to me from the garage. I know I can do this now, and I'm eager to begin. I want to thank the author and congratulate him for a book well written! ... show more

  • Great for beginners like me
This is an excellent, brief book especially for seniors. Each muscle group is broken down by exercise usually with several options keyed to ability. You can construct your own program or use one of the template workouts. He doesn’t push any particular method or program letting you decide based on what is working for you. Includes exercises that involve a bench also. Many of the exercises can be used without using dumbbells but just body weight. Some areas could have used additional discussion. Can’t wait to get started. ... show more

  • Takes the fear out of weight training for seniors!
Live in a private senior village with a well stocked gym. Rarely see anyone using it. Retired 85 yo Nurse Practitioner noticing I was losing upper body strength.Maintain a daily walking plan, but wanted to preserve my strength for housekeeping and opening packages and jars.Searched for a simple, straightforward book on weight lifting for seniors. Unfortunately bought two from Amazon which weren’t right for my needs. Bought this one by Andy Taumann which is sensational. Clear instructions, he points out what to watch out for. Now feel confident to take my book to the gym and work on preserving my strength. Thank you Andy! ... show more

  • Spiral
The book is informative, but it is very difficult to follow because there’s no spiral binding. Therefore, you always have to lay the book down so you can’t read it when you’re exercising. I would spend more on books like this if they had spiral bindings.

I use this book as my bible for lifting. It gave me sample routines with suggested exercises. sets and reps. I am so glad I got this. I had never lifted in my life, even though I was very athletic. LOVE IT!!!
