I bought this for my wife's horse trailer. Uses a 12v deep-cycle battery and was down enough that the electric jack wouldn't work. Installed this charger and a day later the battery was fully charged and has stayed that way ever since (3 weeks). The battery wasn't completely dead (10ish v) so don't know if this charger would have worked on a dead battery. Since we can't tow with it attached I mounted it to a 2x1 board that sits on top of the battery box under the nylon cover strap. When getting ready to tow, simply unplug, slide it from under the strap and stow it away. When done towing, slide the board back on, connect the cable and all is good. Stays connected most of the time and haven't seen any ill-effects. So far does exactly what I needed it for. BillK.........

I have a doorbell camera that accepts 5V input from solar (or any) to maintain the battery. I had it connected to a 7V solar panel through a 5V buck converter (see images), but after only 6 months the solar panel voltage had dropped to only 4.4V - and was unable to maintain charge on the doorbell. Unwilling to trust any of the 5V panels to last, using a 12V panel through the same 5V buck converter, even if the panel derates over time, I should get 5 - 10 years out of it. This panel is incredibly well built and I predict it will last for as long as I own the home (OK - I'm a septuagenarian - so I will be here maybe 15 more years). IF needed to trickle-charge an auto or marine battery I would definitely recommend getting the 30 Watt version. Recommended.

Excellent, except that the connection to the battery is situated such that battery positive is the exposed terminal on the down stream side of the connector . Not good in a boat. It should be the opposite. They do have an excellent cover for it, so I have not experienced a problem. It is maintaining the starter battery on my boat right now.
