  • Solid device which gets the job done well.
Color: Black W/Volume
I bought this to replace a stereo L-pad from Radio Shack from the 1970's which was starting to fail. I had the L-Pad installed in a lightweight project box that would slide off my credenza if bumped. This is SO much better. This unit is metal and has some heft to it. The pads underneath keep it securely in place. I use it to attenuate (blend in) some metal Super Tweeters that run in parallel with my main speakers. Aesthetically, this device is much nicer than my old project box, and is easier to operate. All the controls and inputs/outputs are clearly and neatly marked in white font. The binding posts are metal and are solid. Initially, I was going to use banana plugs, but realized there were holes in the sides of the posts which allow the speaker wires to be connected directly, and screwed down securely using the caps. The volume control only works with the B set of speakers, which is how I am using it. The A set has a switch, like the B set, to turn the speaker sets on or off. For my application, I did not need to connect any speakers to the A side. I am not sure why this unit was flagged as frequently returned. Thus far, this controller is working great, exceeds my expectations, and is worth its cost. ... show more

  • I made the switch
Color: Black W/Volume
Note: This review is for the second speaker switch I received. The first one had to be returned due of a faulty volume control. I was able to get it exchanged with no problem and I received the new one in two days. The first thing I noticed about this speaker switch was how well it was made. It was very sturdy and solid. I'm running two pairs of speakers and needed a way to turn off the first pair and control the volume on the second pair. This speaker switch served that purpose and performed very well. I am very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Works perfectly as long as you want one set of speakers to be on
Color: Black W/Volume
This control works really well. It is heavy and well constructed, the connectors are solid, the switches and speaker 2 volume control are heavy duty. The only thing that kept this from a 5-star rating is the somewhat confusing operation - If both sets of speakers are set to ON, they are both on. If one is ON and one is OFF, then that is exactly what you get (either can be off). However if they are both set to OFF, speaker 1 remains on. This happens to be exactly what I wanted, but might be confusing. I have my speaker 1 set as JBL L-100s which have a somewhat muted tweeter. I placed Advents on top as my speaker 2, set to extended high range. I can dial in just enough high response with this controller's volume knob to get exactly the sound I was looking for. ... show more

  • Solid. Works as intended.
Color: Black W/Volume
This was exactly what I was looking for to be able to switch between using speakers in my music room and in the living room. The connectors are robust and the switches are high-quality. I'm not hearing any degradation of sound quality. No complains whatsoever. There was some initial confusion over how to switch between rooms, which sounds odd since that's exactly what this product is intended to do. It works fine. What's weird is that there's no way to choose no sound at all, even if both pair 1 and pair 2 are off. This isn't a big deal. ... show more

  • Works poorly at low volume
Color: Black1 x 2 Way Screw
This switch works OK at higher volumes, but it's terrible at low volumes. I used it to split a couple sets of Klipsch speakers (very efficient) on a very high power receiver. When the volume was turned down to a low background music level, one channel or another would just drop out. It's definitely sucking some power. I didn't open it, but another review here reports, "there are 1.8 ohm, 5W resistors in series with the amp outputs." In my stereo parts collection I found an old Radio Shack speaker switch from the early 90's that doesn't have any circuitry other than a rotary switch and that works perfectly at any volume. Nothing in the product listing here or anywhere else (other than reviews) mentions the extra added resistance. If I had known that, I would not have purchased this useless box. ... show more

  • Excellent Quality, well built and improves sound of system
Color: Black W/Volume
I bought this to run a 3rd set of speakers to my outside deck from my stereo system which only has an A and B for 2 pairs of speakers which are in use inside. Super solid with some weight, very well built. Easy to set up. I was shocked that after hooking this up, my system seemed to sound better and added some volume to all the speakers. I love the separate volume control which I'm using to lower the output on the rear speakers. Gives the soundstage a really good balance of while keeping my front speakers as the main stage. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Wire harness not durable
Color: Black 1 x 2 Way
This worked well for 5-6 years but when I tried to move and reconnect the wires the connectors started coming off (see pic). You can see two are coming off and one has completely. The wire gauge is not large normal speaker wire. I will have to order another type with plug in or screw down connectors. ... show more

  • Switch Operation is Not Intuitive.
Color: Black W/Volume
Nice construction. Banana plugs connectors are are bit shallow as my banana plugs only insert about 1/2" into the sockets. At first the operation is a bit strange (you must read the instructions). Switch 1 controls 'A' speakers. Switch 2 works like A/B. You cannot simultaneously turnoff both A and B speakers. The instructions indicate that this design is to protect some amplifiers from damage due to a disconnected speaker load. ... show more
