Since the cold weather has not yet arrived, we tested this heater (unmounted) in a 14'x6' bathroom. After about 45 minutes, it raised the ambient temperature (80F) about 6F to 86F. The unit displayed that the room temperature was 94F but our independent thermometer disagreed and I believe the independent thermometer since all the living creatures in our house (including me) would be choking at 94F! Probably the displayed temp, even though it's supposed to be the room temp, was influenced by being housed within the heater and thus, is measuring the air temperature right where the heat is coming out. Important note that the front grill gets HOT so should be mounted in a way as to prevent your pet or bedding from coming in contact with it. It's nice that it comes with a secure way to mount it for the above reason but it does look a bit complicated; we haven't decided where to put it yet, so haven't tried to mount it. It's also nice that it comes with a good quality chew-proof cord and a sealed switch, considering it could be exposed to moisture in a dog house. Overall, a nice heater but I am worried about the front grill getting so hot. A very nice improvement would be to have the heater allow the user to set a temperature that could then dictate when the heater turns on/off. It sounds like there's a built-in thermostat but it's permanently set to 95-100F, which, would be way too hot for our coated breeds, like Great Pyrs. Many aquarium heaters come with this feature where it allows for a temperature to be set (within a reasonable range) and then the internal thermostat controls the water temperature, turning itself on/off without the user having to constantly monitor, so it seems this would be a very feasible feature to add with very little cost. With this current heater, depending on the weather, the insulation of the dog house, and number of dogs (contributing body heat) sharing the house, without an option to turn down the heat (we keep our rabbitry at 40F which is very comfortable for most outdoor animals with a coat and a nest) or timer, I fear that either the house could get TOO warm for the dog or that the owner would spend alot of time monitoring and turning it on/off. During winter, keeping the house at 95-100F the heater may run constantly (costly) and that's not even a comfortable temp in the summer for most creatures. An option might be to add a lamp timer to the plug and only turn the heater on for 30 mins at a time a few times a day till a reasonable temperature is reached, but again, will vary and need to be tweaked with weather conditions.

The many safety warnings should be heeded as this heater gets very warm. I wondered if this very small heater would be sufficient to warm up the rather large room my stray cats sleep, but it worked fine. The thick metal coil on the cord should be able to resist animal bites.

Such a great idea! We have 2 little Yorkshire Terriers. They do get colder more easily than larger dogs. Even in our house in the summertime we keep our thermostat set at 75 degrees (our outside temperatures are in the 110s). They’re always underneath a blanket or snuggling up to us. This heater is perfect to give them that extra bit of warmth. And in the winter. . . this is amazing! They’ll be snug and cozy as they take their morning and afternoon walks. This is so small, lightweight, and portable. It can be set on a shelf, on the floor, or mounted on a wall. The heat is adjustable with 2 settings to choose from. The heater has a safety measure that will shut the unit off if it is accidentally turned over. Also, the cord is chew-proof! This doesn’t have to be for just dogs; it’s quite versatile for other beloved pets such as rabbit cages, cat houses, and even chicken coops, rabbit hutches, etc. Heck, I can even put it in my bathroom so when I get out of the tube or shower I can use it!
