  • Works w/ starlink builtin WAP if your laptop is too old to support 802.11ac/aq!
My wife's older laptop (Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 11S I think?) would not recognize the Starlink WAP with its built in card, so I did some research and found that Starlink uses certain versions of 802.11 that her wifi chipset did not list as supported. Grabbed this ultra cheap wifi adapter simply because it was one of the cheapest ones that listed the correct protocol versions and was available with overnight shipping, and guess what, it worked. Only one warning - if your machine is old enough to not support those protocol versions, it likely doesn't have the drivers included with windows for this card. The card includes drivers on a mini CD but this is not helpful if your laptop is just new enough to have missed the optical media era. Luckily I was able to easily copy the drivers off the CD to a USB drive with MY crummy old laptop, so that she could set this up on HER crummy old laptop, but if you don't have this as an option, just keep it in mind and expect to need to move drivers onto a USB thumbdrive or something with a friends machine. I will probably buy another of these to add to my emergency tech toolkit at some point. ... show more

It’s a good product. It just didn’t work with my computer and WiFi. Software & drivers loaded good but it just never would let me connect and wouldn’t accept my WiFi access codes. Otherwise it was pretty simple to figure out and set up.

  • Handy problem solver
I struggled to get WiFi on my laptop. It used to work. Then I talked with a tech support person who agreed it is a hardware problem. He suggested I try one of these. It works. It's a little loose in the port but I don't have to struggle now.

  • My computer needed help
My computer stopped on Internet connection due to the distance from the router. This restored my connectivity.

  • Very good item
It is very good, plug and play. Good signal reception.

  • Not Linux Friendly
Bought for Linux Mint17 so as to connect to internet and upgrade OS. Linux drivers need to be built - no instructions, three cryptic folders each with an install that crashes.
